This is for all the hunters out there and I think it would benefit us all in knowledge if we discussed our personal strategies for PvP.

My PvP strategy depends on how many people I am fighting. If it is 1v1 I will mark them, send in my pet and hit them as hard as possible fast because in melee I wont last more than 6-8 seconds tops against someone who is 1-2 lvls within me. If I am fighting in a mass battle I will sit back and pick off the healers/casters. Also I keep my pet on Passive because I dont want my pet to attack anything I want to choose what it attacks in a mass battle. Also I found out that if you have your pet out near the opposing factions griffon/wave rider they will attack your pet and you. Today me and some friends raided a town I rezed my pet, and the next thing I know a lvl 55 elite with 2 birds is attacking me and I didnt even attack them. Normally they dont attack me, so I rezed and I called my pet again just to be sure of this and they did it again. So take note never have your pet out near a griffon/wave rider.

For 1v1 always open with mark and conc shot. Keep a good distance and I tend to hit them with serpent sting or viper sting depending on their class. Once those wear off, scorpid sting and whatever quick damage I can get off (bombs, arcane shot, etc.) If somebody charges at me and I cant get to ranged attack distance in time, I run past them, clip, and keep going so that they have to change direction. Keep in mind that on the run you cannot fire arrows, but you can launch stings.
For 1v1 fights, the only class that gives me trouble are paladins because they can usually outlast me unless I whale on them and force both their immunes and LOH. In that case, you probably will lose the battle 1v1 and can just come back and kill them with ease the next time. In mass PvP, volley and multi shot are always good, as expected. I also use tons of explosives in mass PvP and the damage they can do is marvelous.

I will usually open up on a 1v1 fight by sending my pet after the enemy. Most people attack whatever attacks them first, or so I have found. Then I hunter mark them, sniper shot, then concussion shot, since I now have the attention of the enemy. At this point I fire a arcane shot if ready, or a serpent sting. If they are too close, I will pop on aspect of the cheeta and run for a bit, this usually forces them to deal with my pet, since he is attacking them and doing damage. I can then begin a whole new barage of shots against the enemy.

In mass pvp, I usually try to hit spellcasters, and those people who try to sneak up around or behind us. In a pinch I can have my bear tank someone until help arrives, while I tank another if need be, though this can be dangerous.

Wow your lucky they will actually focus on your pet. Everytime I get into a fight they NEVER go for my pet they always directly attack me and I will be at least 35 yards away. I have found that if an enemy gets the jump on me by the time I can fight back I will be half dead and stunned. Usually im glad I have potions on me or else I would lose most if not all of my fights because I usually get jumped while im leveling or questing. Also does anyone have any strategies on how to beat a rogue because I have never won a fight with a rogue.

I am only 1 win and 4 loses to a rogue, when it was only 1vs1.

I got lucky and stunned him with my war stomp, and he never recovored from that enough to get back on track.

I hear:

o Pet -> Passive
o Disengage
o Freezing trap (you set it instantly, you don't have to wait for the animation to finish)
o While he's frozen, set an immolation trap after you've run to the edge of your bow/gun range (again, instant)
o start your Aimed shot, while sending your pet back out to attack
o Concussive shot
o (re)Sting (Scorpid, if you have it)
o Wing Clip (if he makes it back to you)
o etc....

works well against everybody that can only wear cloth or leather. Otherwise, since the aimed shot has diminishing returns against high armour values, you should just lead with the concussive shot once your freezing trap wears out.

...Disengage ? how is that going to work? I mean the rogue is not a npc! it will not give agg to the pet.

Freezing trap? most pvp with rogue you will not be lucky to be albe to start with a trap... and if you have the time to start the pvp the you will win any way...

...only in mass pvp... in 1v1? you don't have 4 sec +. shoot shoot and shoot!

o Concussive shot, yes... unless you dual weapon... then you will most liky miss :D

o (re)Sting (Scorpid, if you have it)

...? why? reducing Strength and Agility? why? that is usless... I'm sorry but wtf? are you thinking? Serpent Sting or
Viper Sting vs pld.

...

usually for a lvl 20 hunter like me i go like this
1v1
duel in 3,2,1 ...
hunters mark (specially if rogue)
set freezing trap
set fire trap
back off
pet to attack
conc shot
serp sting
arcane shot
shoot until little health left, or he comes up to me
if hes still very much alive, wing clip, run and shoot cunc, serp, conc

rinse repeat. it took me a while to get it right, but this works pretty well. just gotta stay calm IMO

if you dual you can be cheap and drop a ice trap on the persons feet then hit "yes"

...yes cheap.. but then you can take yor time get to your distance.
