Noob Rogue Question :) SorryFollow

Hey, I just got the game and am a NE Rogue, and I am confused on what do, and how the weapon skills work, like what does training in a weapon do? I'm only lv 8 and been using Dagger and Throwing, and ive gotten all my skills but dont know how to train in weapons and should i be using a different weapon?
