WoW Hunter = FFXI Ranger?Follow

#1 Nov 22 2004 at 10:45 PM Rating: Default
Is this job ssimilar to the Rangers froll FF11? I loved the ranger job in that game and I love shotting stuff with pointy objects. Also, is there different kinds of ammo at different levels or is it the same type of ammo for all bows. An example is ranged weapons in Diablo2 there were arrows and bolts. In this game is there like many different ammos, and are they cheap? How many can you carry at once and do they take space in your regular inventory to hold? Do pets actually help much, and can a hunter work well without a pet? Thanks for your help in advance.

I THINK, Hunters are Beastmasters that use Bows / Guns and other ranged weapons. They focus more on pet abilities and stuff instead of being an all out ranged-melee damage dealer (like Ranger was in FFXI) i THINK. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I dont really agree that Hunter is like Beastmaster or Ranger at all,... on paper it sounds good, but once you actually play it, it doesnt play anything like either.

Basically, I think Hunter is the combo of Beastmaster and Hunter, best of both worlds to create the ultimate soloer.

I would agree. Hunter is a cross between FFXI RNG and BST.

I agree they are two different games.. wait.. nobody announced that.

First off YES they are two different games....
a Beastmaster in FFXI relies solely on the pet (hence BST/WHM)
a Ranger in FFXI relies on... being an uber problem in FFXI.. could outdamage anything with enough Gil

but let's see a Hunter has traps.. which I mean makes it like an assassin in Diablo 2.. and geez they get to keep their pet cosntantly and teach it skills.. which make it NOTHING like a Beastmaster in FFXI. God no it's not a Ranger it hits like any other.. and you have to be 10 yards back to be able to use your bow/gun/crossbow... you also use your DOT skills and concussive shots and such..

They are two different games dumb f-cks

Yes, more or less. It's has its own special flavor, but if you liked either in FFXI. You'll love Hunter (either Bow or Gun).

More powerful ammo is available at higher levels.

It depends on the comparison. But overall I'd say very, I never worry about the cost. (When I was 10th or lower I did) but once you start getting your trade skill levels higher the cost of arrow or shot won't matter.

You can carry as much as your shot bag allows, when you begin the shot bag you start with I believe holds (6) 200 shot units. Later you can upgrade to better bags/quivers. You don't have to carry a shot bag/quiver. But those bag/quivers give you bonuses to damage & more sometimes.

Pets are your bread and butter. You can go without them, but that would cause you major slow downs. They are without question handy to have around all the time. Just make sure to watch what their doing. A pet on attack mode and ruin your day if he pulls additional unplanned mobs to you.
