I want to know what everyone thinks the hunter will be in WoW. Will it be the ranged attack king and do massive damage like in so many other MMORPGs... Or will it center around a pet and be a highly efficient soloing class. Thoughts?

Hunter. It sounds very much like it revolves around the Wilderness and Nature. The very image can be of two things:
Firstly: The hunter will be a keen Bowman with abilites to reflect camoflage with his/her surroundings and the ability to "Sniper Shot" from distances with the Aid of his/her Forest friends.
Secondly: It could be a hulking person, armed with Axes like a Woodsman. Abilites that reflect his/her "intuness" with the Wild and their surroundings such as Ground Negotiation: The ability to pass along terrain that strangers and "normal people" would find difficult to navigate. Also with this sort of Template of Hunter it could be that they have Druid type abilities, very limited though.
I have personally been thinkinG about Hunter and in my mind these are what Imagine our friends at Blizzard have been working on, of course i could be completly wrong and they may be nothing of the sort. These are merely my opinions.
Thanks for the Thread it's a good question that i guess only time will answer.

There are magical ranged-weapon attacks that mobs use currently that many expect Hunters to access. There's an area-effect (cone effect) flame arrow, cold effect arrow, and another called Piercing Shot which appears to be a debuff.

when i be a hunter i want to tame a raptor, but first ill have to find the stinkin raptor trainer. i wish you could tame dragons though, but then hunters would be way overpowerd and we'd probly get nerfed to death:(

The Hunter looks like it will be a screwed up character in one sense.

The special attacks the Hunter recieves called Quick shot and Running shot ADD damage. Logically you would think that would decrease damage because they do not have time to aim or they cannot aim properly. I beleive in a more realistic game as it can get. These 2 skills may make the hunter better int he game but should be fixed in my opinion, after looking through the skills though the hunter looks like ti will be the main party pulling unit but not quite the tank. Rogues and Paladins look like the tanks in a sense to me.

I'm sorry dacanukofflordia, but did you mean the the tanks would be the paladin and the Warrior? not rogues.
Rogues get skills to hit in the back and loose the enemy's attention.
Warriors get the Taunt skill to cause the enemy to attack him.

I just wanted to clear that up for anyone wondering.

I to wanna play the hunter thats the style i like to play hit from range. I can see the hunter as the puller for a group.

Lets say in real life..some one is really good at shooting a bow and arrow..they are running and they shot but there aim is a little off like on the line beetwen the bullseye and the next cirlce up, how do you know if it would be the same damage to the bullseye it could stick in as far as a normal when just standing there...therefore it might be logical to do the same damage

Hunters are now in WoW, with the latest patch.
They do about 2x the ammount of ranged damage then with melee damage..
Supposedly Hunters get traps they can lay down, in the path of the creature you are "pulling" to inflict even more damage on it.
Tho, good luck playing WoW beta today... (server issues as always.)

I think the hunter will be exactly what it says on the tin, a ranged attack unit, that can melee when it needs to. my hunter is gona hav a bow, and those thing illidan has in warcraft 3, i think theyre called warglaives, and im gona hav a pet raptor, like the guy up there. do u reckon u can feed live critters to your pets, that would be cool

I think the hunter will be a very interesting class to play. For solo'ing you have your pant and your ranged weapons to use. In a group you may end up being a puller, not sure on it. But in a group, I think a hunter will be an awsome support damage dealer. There's they're pet to help tank if needed and deal out damange. And then there's the Hunter doing theirs.

I'm exctied to play one and see what it's like. Can't wait for retail.

hehe as a hunter there is no need to be the puller warriors and paladins do the same job, but with the hunter i at least chip away 25 to 50% of the mobs health and the mob is poisoned slowed etc, the my pet kicks in to finish the rest, by far the easiest class at lower lv's to solo with only beaten by the warlock at higher lv's.
