papa bonecrafter needs some luck SEFollow

Hellow fellow crafters, i have never posted on the tradeskill forums so bare with me. I am going to be doing some cursed heca synths, and am looking for advice from fellow crafters that have perhaps done this. I am going to be doing either 10 cursed gloves or feet, and i am wondering which you guys think is a better idea. I know which sells for what on my server, and how much the nq loss, hq gain is. I suppose im just asking for some advice from someone who has done them and maybe has a preference. I know they have equal chances at hqing. I have 8 Angel skins saved up and plan on grabbing the other 2 soon. I have even considered getting 4 more for a total batch of 12. I know by waiting other crafters are most likely stock piling their masses of synths and making more gil than me while i carefully get my materials and wait for the right day lol.


In any case, tips, hints, experience you have, i have mostly done genie weskits, and have hq'd roughly 15 of them. I usually do batches of 50 at a time, which like it or not, i do cause ya i see more results right away, thus the reason for waiting til i have 5m worth of materials to do these heca. Anyways, i think i am leaning toward doing feet, they sell for a bit more, and im not sure on a perspective of what other armor is out there, but i think heca feet -1 are more desireable. Day will prob be windsday on a lower or higher moon, 10-25% or 80-90 ish. Anyways, sorry i know this is probably me just being nervous, but anything you can add would be appreciated. Im pretty sure what i posted here is known by everyone and not spilling anyones secrets.

Hands? feet? best day thats worked for you? ( i know it might not make a crap of difference, just call me supersticious lol). Any idea what sells beter hq wise based on alternative gear for jobs that can use? Thank you and sorry for long post.

Only advise is hope your luck doesn't suck as much as mine and you actually HQ 1 of them.

I went 1/16 with 4 breaks I think, to get my heca feet +1's and that was to wear, not to sell :/ (that was just cursed leggings synths, I also did 10 other tier 1 synths in between with no HQ, so theroetically I went 1/26)

To valv, a lota mules, and a second account to hold a junkload of materials and trade them to me while i pump em out back to back. I know in hindsite i probably would be better off just pumping out w/e materials are on the AH. But im a wierd crafter. Its a lota work gathering and setting up, but w/e. seems to work fo me.

Buddy, did you go 1/16 all at once? Or did it take you 16 synths to get a hq, like doing 1-2 at a time then finally hq. I am hoping that doing them all at once helps me, even if only in my mind. Ya and no way am i gona put up more than 1 at a time to resell, nq loss is big enough per synth without me crashing the market lol.

My friend is allways saying "oh my crafting luck is so bad, im like 0/300 on this and that". The thing i noticed is he does 1 synth at a time, which i duno, maybe for me just doesnt work. Am hoping to sweet jesus i dont go 0/12. In either case, would love to know if those were back to back, maybe cause you said you did 10 tier 1's in between you did them all at once? Not liking the 4 breaks lol, you lose angel skin every break just like SH synth?

Think I did a batch of 4, then 2 + 10 the other synths (demon helms, behemoth rings ect) then just did them in 1's and 2's when I had the gil, nothing worse than selling a cursed leggings, buying angel skin and breaking it within 30 seconds. I also sold my o. kotes, bought an angel skin and broke it too :(

And yes, you lose angel skin every time on a failed synth

Ya thats what ive noticed a trend in, if i do like 1-2 at a time, it almost allways turns out in a nq or break party. I swapped to doing things in batches a while back, and although it takes me more time/gil i usually see a semi guarantee back, and much faster. Tier 0's i try batches of 50, tier I batches of 10-12, tier II well at least 3 or 4, and so on. Ouch on selling O kote and then breaking. Its all luck, but im hoping to get at least 1 hq out of the batch. I also decided to do 12 instead of 10, i know its a 10% hq rate, but i also know how SE likes to say "silly you, you didnt factor in things you dont know about" lol. So anywho, wish me luck, i prob wont post back on here if i hq, nobody likes a gloating douche. Thank you guys for advice.

at least on my cursed leggings, I still managed to save gil compared to buying them, albeit it was only 100k saved lol

Just remembered too, I did see a SS recently of someone doing 10 synths and breaking 1 and NQ 9 cursed leggings

GL on the synths! If you're looking for some kind of hope, yesterday I happened to Tier 0 HQ my Lv. 58 guild test item, and now have a Dino Jerkin for....I dunno...LOL. Maybe the coming update will make my lucky (or FAIL if you see it that way) HQ synth a major WIN.

Do some quick math is 1 HQ and 11 NQ of feet better than 1 HQ and 11 NQ of hands?

Pick whicherver one is the best there.

If I were doing the 12 synths I'd assume 2 breaks 1 HQ and rest NQ.

That's being hopeful, but assuming that:

6 mil on materials

Feet 300k NQ - 6mil HQ
Hands 360k NQ - 4.5mil HQ

So, 10 NQ 1 HQ would be feet 9mil, hands 8.1mil

I'd go for the feet and hope you get really lucky and HQ 2

Well i said i wasnt gona post my results, but it was epic, so i must.

So i originally had 12 skins. I waited til windsday at 79% wax gib i think and i set up to do 12 cursed hands. Im in port bastok cause being 103 i didnt need support from guild. Well at the last minute i decide, "Eh ima do feet instead". Based on math (that was pointed out below also) and me asking my fasion institute of design and merchandising graduate fiance the question "Hey honey, mittens or leggings?" To which she replies "Leggings of course", i decided to do feet lololol.

She knows nothing of ffxi, and actually hates it more than anything, (probably due to my attention given to the game). But she is my good luck charm so i say w/e, and start crafting. 1 synth in i realize, "oh sh*te, feet are lvl 94, i need support". So i just do 1 feet and 1 hands, cause i had the abj's for both in mh waiting. I go turn them in, and decide to wait for the next day because i couldnt make it to windy in time. I had waited til 21:00 on windsday.

Ok in any case, the next day i go to windy and its 21% waxing gib on windsday. I got 10 angel skins and i procede to go 0/9 all in a row. At that point im pretty angry, because i know SE, and i know my T1 records, and i KNOW how the 10th is gona turn out.

So i put the materials for the 10th cursed synth in the crystal and hit enter, immediately walking out of the room. I had to get ready to go out and i also didnt wana see my last hope if a HQ come to nothing in front of my eyes. Im in the other room, getting dressed, all the while cursing SE and how sh*tty of a company they are for letting someone save 6m worth of materials for nothing in return. How they can burn in hell and i really am going to toss my computer out the window. After i had thrown my fit like a little baby, i walked back into the room.

My laptop is on the coffee table and so i can barely see the scree as im standing above it and its pretty dark. I look down at the almost black screen, and... What is this? Is that a -1 i see on the screen? It cant be. Yes, i sit down and there it is on the screen. "You synthesise a pair of Cursed Leggings -1"

In any case, i wont w00000t and shout like i did at the time, i just had to post that, mainly cause i was in the other room cursing SE's name and crying like a little schoolgirl while they were blessing my efforts with a HQ.

So there it is, 1/10 on cursed legs, i have been doing batches of things for a long time, and this has finally proven to me without any shadow if a doubt that doing batches is worth it. SOOO worth it. Had i not done 10 synths on a T1 hq, who knows, would i have got the 9th? Anyways, there it is, thank you all for your input, now i just have to wait 3 weeks to sell them lol.
