Well, I feel rather inadequate about my own rather meager creations after having watched this video featuring the Studio Ghibli world someone made. They recreated the town and bathhouse (inside and out) from "Spirited Away", the castle from "Castle in the Sky", the castle from "Howl's Moving Castle", what I think is the town from "Kiki's Delivery Service", the massive forests from "Nausica of the Valley of the Wind", the airplanes from "Porco Rosso", and I think I might have seen something in there from "The Cat Returns" as well. If you like the video, they've actually provided the map free to download for exploration. I'm going to have to wonder around there for a bit.

Tried putting a torch anywhere I could fit a torch at and they would still spawn. I started to think about it and this would only occur if I tried to hit the sac in the middle of the night, not right after the sun went down. -shrug-

With beds, you need to make sure there's no direct path to your bed where enemies could be spawning. You also have to make sure you're at least two blocks away from any area where they could spawn, even if there's a wall in between. So if your bed is right against the wall, and on the other side of that wall there's a hollow area where enemies can spawn, then the mob will wake you up (and teleport in front of your bed).

Ah that explains it. Certainly had me puzzled on how a zombie could try to get fresh with my avatar when I was locked away in my room. :S

* Doors make sound for other players in multiplayer

* Fixed a bug where the player could mine without swinging their arm
* Fixed boats placed on snow being placed too far up

For the second one, Notch added tall grass which will drop the seeds. Before, you needed to use a hoe on grass to get seeds to grow grain.

Ah, I see. So he's not just saying, blanket, that a hoe won't work on the ground anymore. lol

Wee! Should have no problem reaching the top of my massive tower of awesometon. As it stands I have a relatively high chance of stalling out right before I reach the top. :l

Oh I don't suppose I could join the multiplayer server? I am not good at making awesome structures but I certainly like digging holes. :P

I still have two minecart boosting stations on my single player file. How are you setting it up? Going the circle and several minecarts method or coming down right next to a cart and having them jokey for lead? I use the latter and it is very effective for getting me across large distances and even up 60 floors. :P

I was doing the latter; it still works as of now, but it will break come the update. It's not a huge loss, and booster tracks are getting boosted, but I don't look forward to replacing every (8? I forget when they start to slow) tracks with a booster track Smiley: tongue

I think it's supposed to be every 25th track. Of course, that number will change now that he's making the booster tracks stronger, too.

Server is updated and hell gates are confirmed working. I placed one next to my base, and I need someone to check something for me. When I went to the Nether everything was blue except for the lava, lumines stones, and monsters. I'm not sure if it's the texture pack I'm using or not.

Went into the nether just a minute ago and everything is how it should be. Came back through the portal after digging up some netherrack to be sent to a new portal. Luckly I was greeted when I came out by a little green man who wanted nothing more than to say hi by exploding in my face. :l About pissed my pants too when I saw him.

...and I'm trapped in the Nether. I was portalling back when a Ghast blue out the portal. I don't have a flint and steel to relight the thing, so I'm stuck there until someone relights it for me or I die. I'd like to avoid the second option as I just made myself a full set of diamond armor and I don't want to risk losing it.

I got bored with Minecraft because I was using invedit in single player. I hadn't played for about 2 months and I decided to give single player another shot. I started a branch mine and I so far have two stacks of diamonds. My biggest difficulty so far has been getting enough iron for my tracks. I like the fact that gold is actually useful and booster tracks seem a lot more realistic that tossing down a few carts to get infinite speed.

I might jump back in multiplayer again in the future, but it would probably be on another server.

Edit: Actually, PM me the server info, I want to check your guys stuff out.

Fair warning, my "project" is far from completion. I also dug out a ring where I plan on doing my digging so if you do plan on setting up shop nearby, might want to keep it out of said ring. Otherwise you could find yourself home to a floating base. :P

I just need to get a few hundred more stacks of cobblestone together and I'll almost but not quite have my roof done. Then onto the walls, rooms, garden, and after all that's done, I might add some towers.

If you head east from your massive structure, you will eventually hit my place. I have quite a bit of cobblestone you can have.

Edit: Hmm, well apparently I have ~55k cobblestone atm. My guess is I am going to get around 600k stone once I am done with stage 1 of my plan. :S

uh-oh... what kind of ring? I hope you don't mean of torches - I found some in a mountainous area, but most are gone.

Last night I was doing some mining. I finish up, come up out of my mine to where I have my chest, forge, and bench, open the forge to smelt down some iron, and my diamond sword just vanishes. I check my inventory, and my armor is gone too. Everything I had that was made from diamond just disappeared for no apparent reason. :(

Yeah there is an annoying bug if you drop any of your equipment or place it in chests its durability will drop to 1. Really annoying and Notch said he is working on getting it fixed. My big gripe was getting attacked by slimes that glitched through the mountain and were bobbing through the mountains while attacking me. For a while there I thought I was getting attacked by an invisible zombie until I backed into a corner and started to let fists fly and I saw a slimeball drop from thin air. Had two medium slimes and a small one follow me. >.>

Hehe nah I dug down to stone for my ring. If you go to the southwest corner of my hole in the ground and look east you will see the scare it left behind. :P

Edit: Well, that's going to be a big fishing pond. :S Guess I better clear out the wood at the bottom. I made a chest so people can store crap they don't want to lug around in. My OCD kicked in when I saw some string, a sword, and a block of dirt in with a bunch of cobblestone. :l

Yeah, that was me. I stopped by to take you up on your cobblestone offer. I found that stuff sitting just outside your place and I figured they were yours, so I left them there.

Ah, thought it might have been Locke. :P If ya need more stone, feel free to come back, I am already closing in on what you already took. :D

On a side note, I hate creepers. >.> Nothing like opening the door and seeing one jump around the corner to stare at you for a second before going all allahu akbar on my face.

I did find your rat hole. Soon there will be a fishing pond nearby Smiley: grin

Yes, it will be a VERY big fishing pond Smiley: laugh The back door out of your rat hole is going to look like it enters into "Under the Sea" in the Little Mermaid.

Speaking of creepers, I found a pair of them up on my roof, both of which blew up and knocked wholes in the place. Bastards.

After having walked what I believe is Criminy's domain...

What. The. Hell.

You are crazy mad.

BUT

I like your glassy thing, we should make it stretch all the way to infinity and beyond!

Considering I am going to need roughly 22.2k blocks of glass I think I will stick with my small area. :P The main reason I have glass up though is to keep things like creepers from falling onto my head as I mine. Although I could just fence the area off... but that would take a horrible amount of wood. :S

Yeah, clearly I didn't go far enough East when I visited your place the first time. I used to think that my place was big...

Phases 1 , 2, and 3 are complete with my pond thus far. Phase 4 should be done today, and then 5 and 6 will take a while to plan out.

Phase 1: Block off area for new lake.
Phase 2: Cover the entire area.
Phase 3: Flood the top of the area.
Phase 4: Knock out all the dirt under the water, making the water cascade down into a giant lake/reservoir.
Phase 5: Sculpt the outside areas to create a nice "dam" facade. Potentially going to make streams that connect to the nearby sea on one side, or an artificial lake somewhere else.
Phase 6: Find out if I want to make an underwater tunnel/lake at the bottom of the dam. Criminy's rat hole provides a nice entrance to such an area. Would mostly be made of glass, and would be fun to see all the trees and whatnot that were under the lake when I flooded it. But I could also leave it open in case anyone wants to swim around in an underground world!

Major kudos to Criminy for letting me use the resources in the rat hole. Saved me an hour or two of mining/digging for resources!

Also, I planted some mushrooms in a cave a while ago. I want to go back and see how they've grown. Apparently they grow slowly but have exponential growth curves... mushroom soup for all!

Hehe kinda happy someone is using the cobblestone I have. Was wondering what I was going to do with it all. :S

Great, now I am expecting a creeper to be laying in my bed when I log on.

That's a very nice bed you have here. Shame if something were to happen to it. Ssssssssss....

Edit: Yay, a cake!

A few days ago I took a nap on Criminy's bed, forgetting that sleeping a bed sets it as your spawn point. My health was down to a half heart, so I committed suicide last night (it's easier than eating a bunch of stuff) and found myself back on his bed. I helped myself to an inventory full of cobblestone and headed out the door, and was rather shocked to find myself under water. I was wondering what the point of blocking in that area was.

Because Locke is weird like that

Speaking of cake, I have sugar cane and wheat growing in the basement of my base. Help yourself if you need some for cake, just plant replacements before you go. There is a workbench next to the wheat if you need to make a hoe.

Is there a glitch in making glowstone blocks? I can't seem to make any. I try to take them out of the craft table, and it keeps pulling it back in.

Yup, it's a bit glitched. The block won't appear in the finished product window until you click on it, then for some reason, the first block took two clicks to drop into my inventory. I was able to get them, just took a few extra clicks more than normal.
