FUTURE:

This game simply needs a good shut down like FFXIV, so

EA Bioware can work out what was wrong and correct the

game. There is so much wrong with the game that it is

not fun. Fun elements do exist in this game, and the

music / story is exceptional. But, there is so much

wrong for an MMORPG (see other thread complaints) that I

only listed a few small grains of sand. This game

needs more than that to take an upward swing .. more

sand .. like a sandbox! .. yup I went there. Give this

game any sandbox content where players actually matter,

and I am positive this game might hold a stable customer

base.

As it is, this themepark game won't end well. F2P (B2P

hybrid) doesn't fix problems, it only extends issues to

others who never played the game.

TLDR: SW franchise is awesome in the past. SWTOR is a

letdown and needs to be reworked.

Any thoughts on SWTOR having a shutdown / revamp?

Poorly written & poorly thoughtout idea that would be disastrous to the game, more so than going F2P.

The leveling content has been well received, the sole criticism is that it is basically a single player game. It is a little late to throw dynamic content in ala GW2 or Rift, however perhaps on a new planet focused on end game /shrug mebbe. By going F2P they are hoping that the solid leveling experience will hook people into committing to a subscription or microtransactions at end game. Which is probably a good strat to play.

The PvP content is getting solid review & and 1.3 addressed wait time and the imbalance for actual warzones that popped. S1 needs to go live, they need to continue to put out solid warzones.

The PvE content bears some criticism, though thankfully the bugs have mostly been worked out. The FP's are solid, Operations are light and not really challenging (though Denova picked it up).

They need to get new PvE content out, build on the pvp strength and hope that the switch to F2P doesn't scare people off. Their two biggest short terms concerns are MoP and GW2 both of which are looking to have strong releases. A shut down of servers, especially when two A+ titles are about to be released within the next 8 weeks would be the single worst decision in MMO history.
