Im sorta new to sab rogue and im loving it, it suggests that you pair up with riftstalker and ranger . Although ive been using SAb/SIN/NB .
my question is , is it considered a range weapon or physical melee.
any comment would be nice.

typically a sab rogue will be considered range dps... although i believe dmg scales based off of melee weapons.

Technically it's a melee soul - you auto attack at melee. That being said, it is pretty much equally effective at range, and with ranger subbed might even auto attack at range.

lets look at the souls trion suggest it be paired with... ranger and riftstalker... a ranged dps and a soul that can teleport .... ya pretty sure its ranged dps.

The soul even has talents the boost range... jesus...

Riftstalker is straight melee, regardless of whether or not they can teleport. Basically Sab falls somewhere in between - it's not strictly ranged. Why the need to label it so definitively? Do what works, no one's tying your hands here, or punishing you for coloring outside the lines.

ranged - those that CAN do full or most dps at range
and
melee - those that can not do most of their dps at range
by these standards... the sabe soul if used for dps is a ranged soul.

Actually, there's a ranger build out there that's pure melee and for a while was the top raiding spec. As was already said, there's just no need to limit yourself to labels that clearly don't apply. If you can be equally effective at ranged or melee, then obviously you're both.

However you spec sab you always have ranger or marks as the 2 point or 0 point soul. It forces your charge damage to be based off your ranged weapon which will have a higher dps to an equal ilevel dagger.
Also, if you do spec correctly for end game dps you will be in melee at all times because of the use of poison and weapon enchantment procs. That being said, the highest dps sabo spec at the moment even includes using bladedancer's Deadly Strike finisher.

Correct, because they're still exclusively using ranged skills and don't gain any dps by going melee.

You must know different sab rogues than I do, because the sab rogues I know will throw in melee finishers occasionally (through use of annihilation bomb first to detonate spike charges) to get an extra 1.5-2k damage every so often while in melee.

Yes, and he also qualifies as melee dps if he's doing what I described above.

I will concede your point that pure sab can easily be classified as a ranged dps soul. However, since the OP has been using sab/sin/nb (a good combination imo), I assumed he was asking about effective sab builds, not just the sab soul, in which case a sab in melee will do more dps than a sab that is staying ranged.

lol alright so many responses. I was acctuly asking because of killing focus out of the ranger tree.haha. so that i would go 7 ( ATK power buff) on ranger and not assasin.
