While I have toyed around a bit with a RiftBlade a bit in the beta I was curious if anyone else really got a chance to try out focusing on this soul. I was curious just how well it performed damage wise or if it was far behind the other warrior damage builds that might make it not worth it.

Either way I really enjoy the aspect of the class (seeing how lack luster to me shaman seemed for what I wanted) and was looking into builds. Right now I'm thinking of going for a Champ/Rift/Reaver combo using the Reaver Death dots to its advantage. I probably am leaning towards a 51 point in reaver seeing the 51 avatar seems to berather strong and looking at the trees dipping very far into reaver doesn't really provide a huge amount of abilities that would supplement riftblade as much.

I was wondering if it would be good though to invest into the reaver tree for those extra dots or would it just be better to go for the 5% extra hit in Champion and get grim satisfaction (Would need 1 point less in there) or would it be better to go for an extra dot? I could see also bypassing getting points in Reaver and instead investing more into champion to get bash as a more reliable interrupt. Any opinion would be good to see others who are thinking of going the Riftblade route.

Riftblade has actually built a reputation over the Betas as being overpowered, especially in PvP. You will not ha ve to worry about being weaker than the rest of the warrior DPS builds. As for your Riftblade/Reaver/Champ build, I've been using a similar build for the past couple of betas, and thoroughly enjoy it in PvP and leveling, but in dungeons, keep in mind that unless you take damage, your death DoTs hit 20% weaker. So it's probably not the most effective PvE DPS build, but it's still fun.

Ah thanks for the input. I do enjoy the Riftblade a lot for what it is myself so wanted to see other people's input. So basically I'm getting that with pve dungeons its probably better to lean more into champion then anything. I do know that the ability is based on taking damage so I was figuring there was a chance that damage would be felt through aoe damage though it might be left to raids and other deals like that.

That's always a possibility, and a few weeks ago I did some basic maths with the base numbers of the max ranks of all the available Reaver DoTs you'll have with only 15 points in Reaver (any more is useless, IMO, unless you're a tank or putting together a PvP build), and they still had higher DPCT (Damage per Cast Time) than your basic, fire-based weapon strike from Riftblade, but still not as effective as Fiery Burst and Rift Strike. Bear in mind that one of your Reaver DoTs, however, produces extra threat, but in the Riftblade tree you also get the skill to reduce all your threat generation by 50%, so it might work out.

But Champion is a strong choice, regardless.

That 51 point Riftblaade abilities does look pretty tasty, but I have builds put together in case it goes either way.
