So with release date soon approaching I've been playing with some tanking builds, I would like to be mainly Reaver with some Pally and Warlord in there and this, is what I've come up with so far. Any opinions and suggestions would be greatly appreciated, the only thing is that I would like to remain mostly reaver, so please don't tell me to play a pally. Thanks :)

Nice looking build. I was thinking something similar myself, but I think I'd prefer a few more points in reaver to get explosive infestation.
I was thinking something along the lines of

I do have a question though that I can't seem to have answered for sure. Do you know if taunts from different soul trees share a cooldown? Like does grim lure share a cooldown with shield throw?

If they do share cooldowns I'd prolly go something along the lines of
I like the middle of the pally tree much more than the warlord tree for stun, threat, block, etc

I'd also like to get some other Reavers input on Power in the Blood? Seems like a weak way to spend points to me, has anyone noticed it making much of a difference?

This is what I will use at level 50:

Focuses on aoe skills, and spreading DOT's with the skill that makes DOT's spread.

Yea I agree with you on the power in blood thing, hopefully you won't need to worry about being below 30% too often, maybe take the points outta there and throw them into wasting away? str equals AP and AP is how hard you get hit, so roughly your getting hit 15%.... weaker? (not sure on the proper word for there lol), so updated I'm with

Yeah, the str debuff on wasting away should equate to taking a lot less melee damage. You may even consider taking points from Power From The Masses for it, since PFTM only gives big damage reduction when you're dealing with a lot of mobs.

Also, the argument could be made that Power in the Blood saves your *** if you do get below 30%. It may not happen often, but when it does I think it might be nice to have the high damage reduction. Which has me kind of second guessing my previous assumption of it being wasted points. I'd love to hear from anyone who's actually tested it though.

I'm kind of bouncing around the idea of this build:
It basically moves the spell damage reduction from the reaver tree to the paladin tree. And you get a lot of nice block abilities with it.

WTB Elitistjerks for rift :-P

I leveled a paladin/reaver last beta, and to answer the question about the taunts sharing the same timer, they share a timer in a sense but not the full minute. When I would use one of the AOE taunts the other AOE taunt would go onto a 8 or 10 second timer (never timed it but would guess that range) while the one I used went on its 60 second timer. is the build I was using, VK for void buff to help reduce spell damage. The 5 points there are basically thrown away but gets me discharge so I have something to spend my pacts on and gift of the void knight so I am not out any HP.

I only leveled him to the mid 30s so never put any points into VK so not sure how that would work out in the end, but void for a free buff is nice.

For leveling I leveled the reaver side first upto soul devour and master of the abyss throwing the extras into Pali. Honestly the highest damage strike at the level I was, was retaliation from the paly.

I had Power of the blood and entropic embrace specced at different times and for tanking entropic embrace does next to nothing, but power of the blood helps alot when it really matter.

My end build would be more paly than reaver, but upto 30 it was primarly reaver for leveling. Solo it was reasonable dps and by far the most survivable build I had.

This is the build i would be useing when i get to 50 Reaver (38) / Paladin (13) / Warlord (15) .

Ialso agree with the points being waisted in Power in the Blood, you should never fall below 30% in a raid situation if you do you're as good as dead.

This build does a great injustice to your healers if you plan on doing instances. You are skipping many of the more powerful damage reduction abilities from your trees.
-Shroud of Entropy, the 44 point skill in the Root of the Reaver tree is VERY powerful and should be acquired if you're that close. Timed properly, this WILL save your life numerous times.
-The other talent not to be missed is Grisly Works, which heals 9% of your max hp when an enemy dies. Many, many instance pulls wipe with the tank dying on very large pulls that aren't properly cc'd. If you get a big hp boost like 9% after one enemy dies, it could easily mean the difference between a wipe and not.
-The Wasting Away debuff (-15% str) is somewhat devalued considering what a huge amount of damage comes from casters flinging spells. A strength reduction wouldn't help you there.
-Defender (armor reduction) vs. Enhanced Dodge (dodge) is a personal choice. Having end-game tanked numerous mmos, I HIGHLY suggest Defender. There's nothing a healer hates more than a long dodge streak that leads to a dodge drought that kills you. Armor reduction will even out the spikes in the damage you take over a length of time.

Start your own thread. This one is clearly about Reaver tanking, not Warlord.
