So i messed around in beta with shaman's they seemed kinda cool didnt get far with em but do they get healz later on ? or would this b a class youd want to add a healer soul as a second? I was thinking shaman for first then purifier as a second. I purifier soul seemed like a good secondary soul for any dps , since they get dmg absorb bubble and single target healz so think would work good with shaman. if get invited to the next beta event i might give em a try. what do other ppl think? really liked cleric souls so probably will start with them again. Lookin for a soloable class that can survive on their own without much trouble.

You have to pick a healing soul if you want to heal. If you look at the official rift site's class listing you'll notice shaman is surrounded in yellow. I heard that meant it is a heroic class and not one you can actually start with when the game launches. To heal successfully you'll need a heal soul as your primary and then you might want a shaman to get the added dps. I think that's the idea, anyways. If you pick 2 dps souls there's no guarantee you'll be able to heal for anything.

From what I've heard, shaman isn't a healer at all, he's the tank version of the cleric and that's pretty much it. But thats the beauty of rift, if you want to be a full tank you can just have one in your pocket, or if you want mostly tank but still have a few strong instant heals on yourself, you can spec that way too.

I really couldn't be more stoked about this game.

I ran my Shammy/Justicar to lvl 20. The justicar had one group heal(with my config anyway)which was kinda weak but if I would have made it to beta 3 I would have made third soul a sentry or warden possibly. I like the fact that they can wear chain and also will have some anti-rouge abilitys which will be good for pvp.

Shammies do get some minor heals, like 5% heal on melee crit. But as said, you should combine with Justicar, where you get a spell which gives you a nice self heal for when you are crit.

I certainly hope this is not the case, granted, I can probably wait till I can get the quest in the early teens if that's the way it will be, however being limited to one of 3 classes upon creation will suck. I'd be surprised if that's the way they went, it wouldn't make much sense imo.

Shaman is a melee dps soul.

It is NOT a tank soul.

I played one to early level 20s this beta - I think it's fair to say you do comparable if not better dps to mages/warriors/rogues because I'd never lost to one in warfronts and I'm fairly sure I was doing most of the damage in instances.

That being said I wish tab dotting everything wasn't the best dps on a shaman...I still haven't found a decent way to switch targets to what I want in rift - but I didn't do much other than look at souls last beta.
