You can't compare PC's release version to modern PS4. Not at all.

What's the difference between PC RoS and PS4 RoS?

Also, how do people play "point and click" games with a controller? I get that the melee combat is probably easy enough to do with a controller, but how do you attack the guy in the back of the pack?

They conned me into it. Of course I haven't played it more than once since buying it for xbox. At least I got it on sale.

So that IS the biggest difference in the game. The controller means that essentially all of your targeting is directional. You DO have some aiming help, and it's designed based on the ability (so your beam attacks don't get a ton, once you're channeling, but a long range DH shot is going to auto-target whatever is reasonably closest to your direction.

The PC game, on the other hand, involves actually clicking mobs and such.

So you DON'T snipe in the same way. On the other hand, a big "pierces through everything" attack is still mostly directional.

The flip side is that you can dodge on the controller, which is pretty massive in its influence on play style. So, typically, PC play is going to be slightly more kiting-based, and the controller is more hit-and-run. Though I have limited PC experience.

Of the two, the PC version is the one that has the latest patch, so it has the most content and the most updated balancing changes. PS4 is one patch behind. PS3 is way further behind that.

I logged in today. Made a season Barbarian. Never have played one before. It is now lv70 (thanks guild! T6 PLing ftw!).

******* is with the lag?
I would get stuck in "loops", I have failed at timed kills because no damage is being "done" while the counter is dropping, hell I can't even solo certain mobs because of just lag.

I've not gotten any Death's Breath yet. I can't skill up armor-making without it.

Is there a secret boss that drops the stuff?

What level is your char? I think they start dropping at level 61. Don't know if the droprate changes till 70 but when at maxlevel these things drop like crazy.

My highest is 60. I thought that's when they'd start dropping.

Does Deaths Breath drop if you DON"T have RoS?

I've also been slowly chipping away with a seasonal and hardcore Demon Hunter, only level 20 so far. Playing on "hard" so far to keep things of a bit of compromise between faster leveling and not rage quitting when she gets overwhelmed and dies.

Thought I lost my main this morning. Was fighting a champion pack on Torment 1 when a disconnect hit. No lag beforehand, no warning sign, just an entire loss of connection all of a sudden. Had to reset my router to get back in. Was already trying to accept the death of my beloved Monk but he was still alive. Thanks to the Templar I would guess. Now at Paragon 157.
Am in the progress of slowly upgrading the legendary gems but since I can reach no further than Greater Rift difficulty 14 there's a limit to how far I can push them. Rank 25 seems pretty hopeless now. Smiley: frown

Have not done much in the season. One level thirty-something and one level fourty-something. Not sure if I even will hit 70 with one of them before season 1 ends.

Death's Breath only drops from level 61+ mobs. It's the Reaper of Souls version of Demonic Essence, and as such isn't available from any mob level 60 or lower (i.e., everything available in Vanilla version).

The mobs level with you, so Death's Breath won't drop until you are level 61+.

So what are these Greater/Trial rifts? So I try to solo them? I only have 2 stones so far.

Goblin Portals are awesome. I have now been in 3. So much gold.

If you use a Trial key to open a rift, you get put in a really basic "kill these waves in a certain amount of time amount of time" event. Clear the waves until you can't any more, and you are given a key to a Greater Rift. The more waves you clear, the higher the level of key you are given.

You can then use the Greater key to open a Greater Rift. It's just like a regular rift, except there are no items dropped and it's timed. If you can clear the rift within the time limit, then you likely will find a legendary gem or two from the end boss. You can then choose to either get a key for the next level rift, or to upgrade your legendary gems to more powerful versions.

They're totally soloable. Like everything else in D3, they scale with the number of players.

Edit for clarity: the game difficulty you are on when you open a rift is irrelevant. The monster health/damage values are dependent entirely on the level of the Greater Rift.

I see. I guess I have done one. We zoned in, then ported out (trial). We killed nothing.
Then we went in and just ran past everything, only killing elite mobs for purple orbs. To get the boss to pop?

I have a few of these upgraded Gems, but I don't seem to be able to place them in anything? I've tried weapon and armor...
I also have a gem from Goblin Boss, and it too won't let me place it in any open gem slot.

The legendary gems can only be put in a ring or amulet with a gem slot.

They're super not clear about that.

If you're playing Hardcore be extra careful when doing the Trials. When you kill the enemies fast you often skip some waves. There are numerous reports on the o-boards from players who killed wave number 20-ish, jumped a few waves up and got oneshot by the spawning enemies.
When doing the Greater Rifts you can skip a few levels, too, if you are way ahead of the timer while killing the Greater Rift Guardian. But it's usually not that extreme.

This helps. Now I need better rings and amulet lol.

And to hard-core, I would fail. I made a season monk, started on Hard and died within 5min. lol.

I would play hardcore if there was an offline mode. I don't trust the internet connection enough to risk a character with hundreds of hours spent on it.

How is that even possible? You've gotten three goblin portals, but you still haven't done any Trial Rifts? What gives? Do you have a leprechaun captive in your basement or something?

Maybe.

Both my season characters were PLed via Clan in T6 via gold farmers (not the selling type, they were just going for gold and asked if I wanted to join for the EXP). 1 happened during this time on Barbarian.
The other 2 happened on Monk while I was farming in Expert and Master mode.
Luck I guess. Wish the luck would happen with gear.

It is a drag that a group doesn't benefit from someone having the money gem in a slot. 20% from a mob exploding in a shower of gold happens a lot more often then I thought it would.

True. I would probably try it then.

Next on my list to do is plow through campaign to see if I can do it in under an hour :D
Should be able to with monk on Normal.

If you play on Master or lower you will not get any Trial Keys. Goblin portals can still spawn. Maybe that's the reason.

Edit to add this useful link concerning goblin portals.

Yea I was told about trial keys, I just do bounties on lower setting to plow through them really fast for rift stones, and then just run rifts at a higher setting.
I guess I do this wrong? as many join my group, but a large portion leave when I don't do bounties at a higher level >.>

Many people avoid bounties because rifts have a higher legendary droprate and I think the exp/hour is better in rifts, too. The only bounties that are done often are the Act 1 bounties because the cache you get for doing all five of them can reward the Royal Ring of Grandeur. This ring has the property to decrease the needed setitems for a setbonus by 1 (to a minimum of 2 items). So it is highly sought after.
For most of RoS people did the Act 1 bounties on Normal because that is the fastest way. But since the last patch (or a hotfix-patch after that, not sure) they buffed the droprate for the cache-legendaries, especially on the Torment difficulties. So it would actually make sense to do the bounties on T2 or higher.

Edit: typo

With the 2.1 change to making rifts only require one key, I have so many goddamn keys built up I won't have to do a bounty again for over a year.

Not trying to brag here, but I'm going to brag:

Today I learned about the RRoG. Decided I wanted one. Joined an open group @ normal setting. We did the entire A1 bounty list pretty fast. Open cache, Ring. Sweet. I had a 2 piece going on, now I have "3" set bonus. Would love to get 2 more of the Inna's set (I have one).

On to gobs. Wish I would have gotten the screen pic, but by the time I made it someone had already hit them/one. We ran into a group of 9 goblins. Sadly no portal(s), as we only managed to kill 4. But the gold trail was like a spiral sun shape. Was neat.

My Crusaders has a boat load. Sadly he is normal and not season T.T
