Hyrule Warriors

And a new villain. Much more deadly than Ganondorf.

<Hype Intensifies>

Actually looking forward to this game. Haven't played much of the genre but it's supposedly insanely popular in Japan.

It's Dynasty Warriors - Zelda Style, of course it's popular.

I've never followed the Nintendo console releases these past generations... are they going to cover up those sizable upgrades on the US release to make it more family appropriate?

More info coming out about this game and everything seems good so far. I might end up buying it and a Wii U before the Xenoblade Chronicles X comes out.

This looks pretty cool. I've been teetering on the verge of buying a Wii for about 5 years now. I need a push.

Considering there push to be more "Hardcore" this year, with Bayonetta 2 being released and that off the wall FPS being a wii U exclusive announced at E3 this year.(Which prominently featured a *** scene in it's trailer I believe. At the very least a heavily tattoo'd woman with no clothes on.) I don't believe they'll make it less revealing.

I caught up on all the characters and different weapons each character can use in those minute long preview vids. Super excited! Can't wait to use both impa weapons, Zelda rapier, Both lana weapons and shiek.

I bought the game and don't even own a Wii U (Yet).

I just got a 450 dollar pay check for a side job I did a couple weekends ago. I think I will be picking up a Wii U tomorrow.

Good choice! It's a great console. I know I said that two posts earlier but I can't say it enough.

Setting up my Wii U at the moment. Needlessly annoying since I already had a Network ID... that caused some issues.

Hey, do you want to Create a new ID or link an existing one?
*link existing ID, put in all credentials*
Sorry, you must be at the latest System version to use online features. Go to the System Update and update your system.

Smiley: glare

Had to create a new ID just to get to the main menu so I could do a system update, after which I have to go back and delete the ID and link my real one. Nintendo still sucks at the whole account system.

Then I'll have to transfer my licenses over from my Wii to my Wii U.

I wanted to get the Mario Kart 8 bundle, but they only had the New Mario/Luigi bundle. I figure I'll grab the Mario Kart 8 game later. I picked up Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for the time being, and will see how Xenoblade Chronicles plays on the Wii U. I had 200 Wii points, but nothing is really available for that much on the Wii Shop.

I didn't realize that the GamePad would try to take control of my cable box and TV. But it asked during setup and seems to work just fine.

Hyrule Warriors will be arriving by mail some time later.

I also like it for netflix.

I need to get Hyrule Warriors :3 I technically can afford it, but I shouldn't buy anything until I return to work -.-

I tried out HW for 5 mins in an in-store demo... I'm just not sure as I've never played a DW game before. It feels like a game that would be good to pick up and play occasionally but not invest a lot of time in one sitting... but I'm not sure a game like that is worth the full price. Very torn. I had a few 5 dollar gift cards from Bing for Amazon that I used to purchase it, so it wasn't too bad. I haven't played it yet though. It's in transit.

So I got my Wii U all set up. My Nintendo Network ID is Tirith (I think... there's a couple names there, that's the one on my profile). Not sure if Nintendo finally uses a single account name for friends and such or if you still have to do code exchanges...

I did pick up Mario Kart 8 while I was getting everything. It's the first one I've played since the Gamecube game. Things feel a bit different. It seems they made drifting and the bonus boost easier. I remember having to flip the analog stick back and forth to start a power drift and then release for the boost. Now it seems like the power drift is just pressing the shoulder button while turning. Not sure how that changes the mechanics yet, cause I seem to remember in the Gamecube version being able to do an opposite handed drift at times thru turns (which I seem to remember had it's benefits). Going to have to play around with it a few times and see how it goes.

I am a little bummed that you can't use the Gamepad to play Wii mode games. Would have been fun to play Xenoblade Chroniles 100% on the gamepad only, but looks like I need to bust out the Wiimote and Pad to play even if I can view it on the Gamepad.

Also, Wii U VC catalog is severely lacking. They need to step that **** up.

I didn't realize the Wii U bundle I bought was a Digital Deluxe bundle that gives 10% points back for eShop purchases.

Yeah, I still play games like that with the visuals on the itty bitty screen... cause I'm a freak who likes tiny screens. Really wish could just full on play with the gamepad for sure.

And yes the VC needs more games. I am really confused by their failure to port all the things - at least everything on 3DS should be on there.

Only until the end of this year, though.

Also, I have added you as a friend. You are correct that it's just done by ID now :). I am, of course, Vataro. Any of you other regulars feel free to add me.

Enough to give me a small bonus for stocking my VC catalog.

Breath of Fire II and Earthbound. Nothing like a couple great games to poke around with on occasion.

I'm sure I'll reach 5 dollars before the end of the year. Would have been nice if they had give it "X Amount of time after console registration" instead of just an overall end date for the entire promotion though.

Be sure to sign up for club nintendo. I pretty much end up getting 1 free game a month from my regular purchases. Just the purchase of the wii itself should give you enough coins to get a free kirby game or something (till Oct 12, then they switch over)

They are mostly first party titles available, but still, some decent stuff pops up on there.

Ya. I signed up for that some time ago.

I'm at 1050 coins right now because of recent purchases. I got Super Mario RPG for 200 coins a year or so ago. I think it was the start of the console deals thread. I also got one of the Zelda GB games for free for gold status a couple years ago. I have platinum this year so I wonder what the rewards will be.

If they were like the most recent platinum rewards, not very good. Don't forget to fill out the pre and post play surveys to get more coins.

I think coins eventually expire, so I wouldn't hoard them too much. I have personally never seen any expire but I remember them saying "this is how many coins of yours will expire by x date" - my number was 0 but I am assuming that means that they can expire.

Actually platinum was good this year but you missed out already the redemption period has expired.

Wii U Games

Earthbound (Wii U – VC)
Dr. Luigi (Wii U – Digital Download)
NES Remix (Wii U – Digital Download)
Game & Wario (Wii U – Digital Download)
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (Wii U – VC)
Super Mario Bros. (Wii U – VC)
Kid Icarus (Wii U – VC)
Ice Climber (Wii U – VC)

Nintendo 3DS Games

Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move (Nintendo 3DS – Digital Download)
Dillon's Rolling Western (Nintendo 3DS – Digital Download)
Fluidity: Spin Cycle (Nintendo 3DS – Digital Download)
Donkey Kong Returns 3D (Nintendo 3DS – Digital Download)
Metroid (Nintendo 3DS – VC)
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (Nintendo 3DS – VC)
Wario Land 2 (Nintendo 3DS – VC)
Donkey Kong 3 (Nintendo 3DS – VC)

All mine are relatively new. And I see last years selection was pretty good. We'll see what this years is when the time comes.

None of the current coin games interest me. Hopefully they refresh the selection soon.

The coin selection has been pretty poor for awhile now, and they seem to be phasing out their physical goods for coins. As far as expiring, they do. I've had to make a few purchases in the past because I had coins that were going to expire.

I don't mind them getting rid of physical items. I'd rather have digital games on the VC on the list anyway.

I think my first game was Super Mario RPG for 200 coins some time ago. Then I got Gold that first year, and got one of the Zelda games as a reward. Last year I didn't get enough points to get Gold (It runs July to July I think). This year I hit Platinum with the purchase of the Wii U and a handful of games, so that's why I have so many points (plus I forgot to register a few 3DS games I purchased some time ago).

I just have to wait til next summer before they announce the rewards for this year.

This. I have no interest in the physical goods for the most part, and any of them that don't completely suck are way too expensive.

More soundrack CDs would be nice though. I like my majora's mask soundtrack I got for platinum status awhile back... Heck even digital downloads of soundtracks would be nice.

Occasionally they had good physical items, like the golden nunchuk to match the Zelda golden controller, the charging cradle for the 3DS XL, and cartridge cases.

Sorry to bump this. A little late to the conversation. How's everyone liking the game. See plenty of talk about getting the game not a lot about the game itself!

I've been playing daily since release day. I love it to pieces! Although it get's really redundant in adventure mode.. The progressive challenges in getting all the weapons and their upgrades proving quite satisfying for me. I liked the story but felt it banged on with to much OoT lore and rules to feel like a proper zelda homage. Felt like a history of hyrule as told by the Hero of Time.
