Skyrim is going to be the main daily tomorrow. Might surprise everyone with a big discount

I could do witha huge discount on vanilla Skyrim. Not paying more than $10 though. I really want to mod it, but I already previously got the platinum trophy on the PS3 version (after taking months off while they patched that ******* mess of a game). I have plenty of other games to play though so my willpower is strong on that one.

Hopefully Dragonborn is a nice low price (it's the last one I need), if not I have now found a crack-like addiction with Terraria, I even bought it for my neighbor so we could play in one world (or farm multiple other worlds).

Oh yeah, Terraria is grade A Crackalin. That game had me big time last year. :) Was almost fever like.

I picked up Terraria. I'm kind of afraid to dive in. I don't want an addicting game right now.

Well, from my understanding, it's sort of like 2D minecraft.

I've never played Minecraft but my understanding is that Terraria (which I have played) is more RPG-ish and less "build anything" in style. There's a lot of different monster types and weapons with particular stats, spells, etc. There's boss monsters and some sort of weapon/armor/enemy progression and you'll increase your base health and mana during the game. There's no real NPC interaction; you go to the nurse and select to get healed, not hold a conversation.

You can build lots of neat looking stuff, both explicitly in game (furniture, decorations, etc) and by using architecture. But you don't see things like Minecraft's working Pong machine or calculator. And, of course, it's all 2D.

I'm bad at Dark Souls and I feel bad.

I cant even beat the first skeletons you face after the intro/tutorial without chugging all my potions.

You shouldn't feel bad. Anything in DS can destroy you. You need to learn their fighting patterns and adjust accordingly. This will generally take the form of you banging your head against them until you finally realize what you're doing wrong.

That will probably be wise in the long run. Also moving, dodging, blocking, etc. The actual combat options in DS are relatively simple, but you need to learn how to use them properly.

I hope you don't mean the skeletons in the graveyard. If you do then you might want to consider going somewhere else first. they're not really meant to be tackled at the begining (although any route is possible at any level).

As a rule in the begining you should go up, not down.

Reading a post about beginner's tips might not be a bad idea. Dark Souls is a sufficiently difficult game that, even if you were someone who is opposed to using guides and things in general, it really deserves leniency. There's a lot here that you'll never discover without help. Honestly, in my opinion, they designed the game with the idea that people were going to be actively sharing information (beyond the scope of the in-game messages).

I voted for Super Meat Boy. I already own it and think everyone else should own it. You should feel bad if you don't own it and haven't played it.

[EDIT]

So now that I've played XCOM, I feel comfortable saying I really want them to make a fantasy game with similar systems.

Or for SE to make a FFT game to challenge it.

I'll be happy with either.

Very GTAish game without the carjacking/gun play if I remember correctly, had the 360 version at release. Fun but if I remember right I never finished it.
