Not really a summer sale but EVGA mailed me saying my video card may be eligible for some software package. Turns out I was eligible for Primal Carnage + Adobe Photoshop Elements 10. Not bad.

Nice. I ordered my 760GTX the day before Newegg started a promotion for a free copy of the upcoming Splinter Cell game. I don't think I've ever played a Splinter Cell game, but I gave it a shot and emailed back and forth over a couple of days. They comped the cost and shipped me the coupon to redeem when it's released at no cost.
I played the first and second I think, or the second and third, either way I enjoyed them. It's stealth and it takes an hour or so to get comfortable with the controls, but after that it was a lot of fun.

And Deus Ex wins the vote. Amazing.

After seeing the prices today, I decided to hang on to them for a few weeks. The market is just too saturated right now.

And we have return of the repeats for the next sale: Bioschock Infinite, Skyrim Legendary, and Tomb Raider.

Hoping Tomb Raider wins, because it's probably the best deal out of the three.

I've snagged Bioshock Infinite (from Amazon with the code, many thanks to Joph) and Fallout: New Vegas so far. Spent about $30, and haven't seen much else I would want to buy. Gotta say, going from Skyrim mods to FNV mods is terrible. Skyrim made modding simple, but FNV is just like throwing stuff at the wall and hoping it sticks.

Edit: Humorously, when the Flash sale options came up this time Skyrim was up with a 40% discount, but a total price of $0.00. Unfortunately it was quickly fixed Smiley: frown

I voted Skyrim because if it wins the DLC will go 50% off again.

Certain games drop virtual "cards" into your Steam inventory when played. If you collect all the cards from that game's set, you can combine them to get a badge and some xp towards your "Steam Level" A higher Steam level just provides some extra profile customization and things like a larger friend list (although the default is 250 people anyway). It's all really just an e-peen things.

Only half the cards for a given game will potentially drop for you. More accurately, you get half as many chances as there are cards. So a game with 8 cards will drop four and some may be duplicates. You are expected to trade for the remaining cards or buy them from other people on the market. When the whole card thing was newer, people wanted to collect all the badges and stuff so cards were worth more money. Now there's so many games with cards that a combination of supply and buyer fatigue (no one is reasonably going to collect them all) means the market has pretty much crashed out. Cards used to be worth 75¢ or more each and are now selling for 5¢ in some cases.

It's all one big metagame Steam cooked up to keep people interested in being on Steam. You can safely ignore it unless you really want badges or want to work for nickels.

I've been negligent. No I've been responsible...and busy. Whatever, I'm just getting around to the Steam Sale.

I want RollerCoaster Tycoon 3! The sale on it ends before I get off work. I can't remember my steam password (it's auto-filled on my home machine) and they won't let me reset it until or unless I have the steam app on my computer, but I can't install it on my computer....Oyvey.

I might have to get a bad stomach ache.

Call your children and have them go to your house to buy it!

Or have them buy it themselves and gift it to you.

I'll get it for you, just PM me your Steam name when you get off of work and I'll gift it to you.

I could buy it as a gift for you, and you can send me a game of equal value later. I'm sure something will come up for $5 that I'm interested in. Smiley: lol

Maybe I should play one of the Portal games finally.

Sell them. Use the money for more games. Get more cards from new games. Sell them. Use the money for more games. Get more cards from new games. Sell them ...

Most people who don't want them sell them but they are tradeable (since that was the supposed intent).
