Ya, flying mounts made Everquest 2 a whole different experience.
I spent the remainder of my night last night (until about 2am EST) playing with the harvesting class. I did Botanist for a while earlier in the day but did Miner until the end. Reached level 16. The stat system for harvesting is pretty good. Gathering Skill = higher chances of finding items. Perception Skill = Higher chances of finding HQ items.
Still haven't figured out exactly what all the skills do. There are skill like "Discipline" and "Piety". I imagine Discipline has to do with spell casting, Piety with white magic spell strength?
Disciple of the Field classes are a pain to level, but the Field Levelmetes make it a lot faster. And once you get to level 15, get the level 15 primary and secondary weapon, they give you a big boost to Perception, making HQ finds a lot easier. HQ finds give you 250% or so bonus to Exp. Of course the miner level 15 class quest was to find 15 HQ versions of a level 13 or 14 item. That took a while.
I hope Phase 3 final next weekend last a bit longer than the standard. Want to try out the crafts a bit to decide what to do on the permanent characters. Need a level 19 Disciple of the Hand to unlock the quest to get Materia melding.
