Apparently the patch is now available for download, and I didn't start it before I left for work. Smiley: frown

It's about 1GB. After it downloaded, I got right in, but I hadn't really had any issues around this time before. We'll see how it is this afternoon and tonight. The real test will be on the weekend.

Apparently, the actual patch data is next to nothing. The theory is that these patches contain a lot of blank data. In essence, the idea is that the space has been reserved for PS3 users, who can't easily create HDD space.

But that means they have some huge data file blocks, and a change to one of the parts means you need to re-download the whole block.

Unfortunate, but I can see where they're coming from. That said, it sucks that they are using the same architecture for both systems. Guess it's too much work to break things down that much.

I imagine any PC user who really doesn't want to download the 1GB patch can find self-patching information online soonish. Someone just needs to upload any truly new files, then show you the data fields that need changing.

As much as I hate my ISP, I'm happy our data cap isn't something we need to worry about.

Maybe I'll actually register my PS3 copy this week. I had been holding off because it was bad enough doing everything on a PC, but from my experience in the beta, I don't really want to **** around with PS3 login services any more than I have to.

Just be careful you don't register it as a new service.

Be very, very careful.

Getting the 3102 "you are still logged in" error. I know I exited out of the game completely at home. Can't get on to any character on any server.

Lots of posting about it on the SE forums (when I can get them to load, anyway). Guess we can expect more downtime today while they fix it. To be honest, I expected to wake up to a maintenance extension or two. I just hope it's stable when I get home from work. Smiley: lol

Reddit is suggesting that it's fixing itself for most people in time.

Apparently there's a thread on the NA forums about it, but I can't get it to load. Which I assume is because everyone just pounced on their website.

And yeah, not that I would have attempted to play until after work today anyway, but I was mostly expecting that maintenance would end closer to my log-on time than not.

I'm going to be annoyed if I can't play tonight, though.

Yeah, I see a lot of people saying it was 10-15 minutes for them. I'm at about 90 minutes. I didn't really have anything I wanted to accomplish today anyway, probably just farming some FATEs for seals. I'm torn between grinding for my next promotion or for chocobo barding.

As a side note, I realized you can click the gil count on your main UI and it'll switch to seals, if you want to check quickly how many you have. I'd been going to the character page and selecting the currency tab every time I wanted to see if I was close to promotion.

I like most of the minions. But I'm still not really sold on any of the mounts besides the Chocobo. I can deal with the Magitek and the Couerl, but it still feels weird for it to be a FF game and have everyone riding creatures that aren't Chocobos.

I think that was an issue in XI, too, no? Though, thinking about it now, maybe not. I could be conflating it with the issues GW2 had in WvWvW. That was fun - getting murdered by players you couldn't see.

I really need to make a plan about what I'm going to do next. Because if I keep on being indecisive. I'm just going to continue farm stuff. Harvested two full stacks of regular Moko Grass (plus the additional HQs), a stack of grass snakes, and a stack of something else I can't remember from that same area last night.

Granted, I'm SURE the Moko Grass will go to good use. And the Snakes will let me level up my alchemy with Antidotes. Figured I might as well get as much experience out of them as possible, since it's an item that could actually be useful.

The third thing was... for cooking, I think. That sounds right? That was mostly because I had the three stacks already and what the hell, why not? I needed some more exp for the spirit bond on the gear I was wearing, anyway.

I THINK I'm going to go straight for my chocobo today, craft just enough to get an early gear set for casters together, and then work on Thaum or Arcanist. I hadn't intended to main main the Conjurer... that just sort of happened. And I do like healing, but it's boring solo.

If you joined the Immortal Flames, there's a GC provision quest for Hempen Actons (sp?) that, if I recall correctly, require 9 Moko Grass to make (2 spools of the yarn, one bolt of the cloth, and one Moko Grass). You may already know about this, but I discovered it last night.

Joined the Twin Adders for now. It's really unclear how moving between GCs will work, so I figured I'd just go there.

Oh it was a problem at times. I remember a hilarious Dymamis Bastok wipe where our entire dynamis LS was getting wiped by invisible gobbies at the elevators. It was only funny because my LS was so cool about stuff like that and it was a total Leeroy pull before Leeroy even existed. Smiley: lol

Apparently, people farm the level 50 story 8-mans for Tomestones of Philosophy, so watching cutscenes is frowned upon. I ended up having to skip them all and then going to an inn room to watch them and find out what I did. Smiley: lol I think I have one or two left to do.

I haven't really been paying attention to the thread, but are the server issues fixed? Is it safe to try now?

Yup, more or less. It's not the most stable it could be, but it's more stable than I'd expect fro Ifm an MMO in its second week. I've been DCed twice, now. But the first was while afk for a while watching a cutscene, so it could be related to that. The other was sort of random, and I can't tell if it was PSN-related or not. I technically got DCed a 3rd time, but that was because the PSN went down, not FFXIV.

But I've had no troubles logging in.

Also, ***** anyone who won't let me watch my cut scenes. They'll wait for me, and they'll like it. If they want to farm content, they should get a group together to do so. It's not my job to diminish my play experience for people who want to GOGOGO.

If everyone has seen them already, and you ask them to skip for time constraints, fine. It's still their choice to skip, and they've seen it before.

But for first timers, just let them watch the freaking scene.

Yeah well I watched the one after the first boss, and when it ended, I was alone in the room and everyone was like 3 or 4 trash pulls ahead. The WAR tank was a GOGOGO puller.
