How are the servers today? I might have some time to play. Probably won't until tomorrow, but hey - dare to dream.

I managed to log and I'm not logging out until I go to sleep. Right now I'm just hanging out in the inn. I've been crafting a fair bit. It keeps me occupied while waiting on the duty finder to do it's job. I level Blacksmith up so I could avoid having to buy Iron Ingots to use on Carpenter. But the price of Iron ore from NPCs is higher than I want to pay, so now I'm thinking about going out and doing some Mining...

I also invited Cynik to the LS, his name in game is Grisel Nyteshadow, say hi if you see him.

Got my GLA up to 33, and am officially now a PLD. I currently have access to three cross-class abilities, so I'm using Foresight, Bloodbath, and Cure. Haukke Manor is pretty fun (Lv. 28), and Brayflox's Longstop (Lv. 32). I ran Haukke once, and then jumped right into Brayflox's, since I was behind on my story quests, but I was getting hit extremely hard and ended up farming Haukke a bit for gear. Did a second run of BL this morning, and it was much more smoothe. I even got a pair of Cavalry gloves out of it.

I'm so torn on what to do. I'm having a blast playing PLD, but at some point I'm going to have to put it down and do some crafting and gathering.

I ransacked your room at the Inn last night. I have all of your Frank Sinatra records. If you want them back, leave 200 gil in a plain brown paper bag behind the fence post outside the Archer's Guild.

And no funny stuff or Frankie gets it.

Psh, joke's on you. I booby-trapped my room. Really high-quality traps, too. They pick-pocket intruders.

These ice crystals will MORE than cover the costs of some new records.

I started mining at work, since I can can just drop it whenever I need to actually you know, work. Pretty entertaining so far. I'm looking forward to leveling it up and going out to the more dangerous areas. Of course, dying isn't so bad in XIV, but I liked mining in FFXI where you could do some safe zones for steady income, or risk dying in some of the dangerous zones for a chance at a big payday. Of course, competition over nodes and botters made it not so fun, but I did like certain aspects of it. Heck, I could probably log into Mount Zhayolm after not playing for several years and still remember my Khroma Ore route.

Though I have to say I made a LOT of gil going for elm logs in ghelsba outpost. Smiley: lol Super low risk, and elm were selling for a crapton of gil at their peak. But it was slow and boring, so a lot of people didn't bother.

And I really liked leveling botanist. The fieldcraft leves can be fun, too. They're sort of like mathematical scavenger hunts.

Huh this is rather interesting. Apparently you cannot put videos of the game up on places like Youtube and the such. Rather weak move from Square Enix.

I think you are reading that wrong. It's not that you cannot put videos up on YouTube, it's that you cannot use them for the YouTube partner program. For the record, the partner program is a way to earn money off of YouTube videos by generating ad revenue for the site.

So, essentially, SE is saying you can't profit from their IP. You're still free to upload videos if you're doing it solely for creative purposes.

Otherwise, these seems like very typical brand-control stuff. They aren't giving you any blanket rights to their IP, because it gives them the ability to intervene when it's being used in ways that hurts their brand image.

Really, it seems fairly tame. You can't upload their music, but you can upload the music with associated video. You can't put in new music, because they want to sell the experience. Though I'd be SHOCKED if they ever tried to enforce that rule, excepting comedic videos that they feel hurt the image of the game.

[EDIT]

And just to point it out, the YouTube partner program part is almost certainly to prevent people from posting the CG scenes from the game for profit.

The queues move fast. It's getting into them that takes forever. Last queue I was in was 398 and it was like... 60 seconds.

Yeah, the queue moves extremely fast, particularly because I'm remembering time spent on Illidan in WoW, long ago...

Of course, the fact that it moves so fast is one of the slaps in the face with how small the queue may be. There's no good reason for it to have such a low limit, if the people at the very end will be in in a minute or two.

Or at least pulled up a map along with the menu, so you could see where you would be going even if you don't know the name of the landmark.

So, there I am, trying to log in and I finally get on the queue. I alt tab to wait it out and come back to a message saying the world is full and to try back later. That's right, I got dumped from the queue. I realize that there are a ton of people trying to log on right now, but that's just offensive.
