I managed to get a few hours in. After some shaky login situations, it ran fairly smoothly for me for the last few hours before the maintenance last night. No issues so far today, but it's Monday so I imagine the server load won't be so bad during work and school hours.

GLA25 CNJ19 MRD9 ACN7 so far. Just did Toto-Rak before work this morning, and it was fun but I had some difficulty in maintaining hate over an Archer. I think I'm a bit undergeared and taking too much damage, increasing the difficulty of maintaining threat levels. Luckily at 26, I'll get Rage of Halone, which should help a ton. I did get a cool new sword, so perhaps the increased damage will help maintain as well.

I don't have much of a plan right now. I really enjoy tanking so I've been plodding along, but I should probably go back and do some gathering and crafting, since I believe you need to have a craft leveled in order to put materia in your gear (I could be wrong), and I can see how materia would help out as I level up more.

TINFS is the shell (20 character limit). Figured a shell was our best bet, so we can chat without having to sacrifice whatever content we want to do.

Only took 15 minutes of spamming logging in to get in! I'm legitimately impressed.

There is a queue, but apparently that has a limit and then it just kicks you out because it's full. I'd rather see a queue of 2000 players than just "full" though.

yeah they really need to open a few more servers and let people transfer into them, even if they are just temporary "overflow" servers and you can return to the old one later.

To me, that just means they have too many JP servers. If they opened more NA/EU servers, when the population drops after the first month or two, we'd end up with dead servers. See: SWTOR. Implementing a real queue instead of expanding servers would be the solution I'd like to see.

Yeah, I'm not sure it's possible to have a smooth launch at this point. EVERYONE is going to be playing at launch day, and your servers are never going to have to operate at that capacity again. So you can either waste a ton of resources on hardware you will never need after the first week, or you can just suffer through it. I can't find I dislike them too much for suffering through.

That said, I do think there are a certain number of steps you take there. The queue was one example. Maybe you enable free world transfers from week 3 to month 3. Let people pre-register servers to linkshells, so they get guaranteed placements on the servers with their friends, and you can plan accordingly for the rest of the space. Etc.

But the problem here is that they're doing none of those things, and their communication sucks. I mean, it IS still SE. I'm not going to quit over it, and it'll be forgotten, but it's still really annoying to have had 3 days of "Early access" as a pre-order reward, and then barely get access over those 3 days.

I managed to log in for a bit (after midnight, it's a good thing I'm not going to work this week) and leveled Marauder for a awhile, it's up to 11 now. Just about to start the first three dungeons on my level 16 Lancer. During beta I picked up a pretty decent hauberk during one of them, so I'm hoping to get something decent this time around too. Though, the official launch happening, I doubt I'll be able to get back on line for awhile. Right now I've the 20% damage buff and the increased critical hit rate ability from Archer and the absorb 25% damage dealt ability from Marauder on my Lancer, it's a solid mix for the moment.
