Those rules sound like they're for the players that get off on EV training (as opposed to Eevee training).

It's a common problem for games where optimizing winning makes the game less enjoyable.

Yeah, I'd really like them to consider changing the system somewhat, because currently it is weighted really heavily in favour of hacking and RNGing, so basically, unless you know someone who RNGs and are able to secure pokemon with flawless or near flawless IVs and helpful natures, you're at a huge disadvantage in competition.

I've bred like 100 of a single pokemon and the best result I've gotten with continually upgrading the parents is four flawless IVs (out of a possible six), on one single pokemon. IV breeding was (thankfully) a secondary goal (the main one was breeding that poke for trading on the GTS - it's high demand, I bred them to get pokes I needed for my dex).

At any rate, doing that for a whole team is not feasible in a reasonable time span. Even using parents with good IVs, 3/4 of any set of eggs I breed will have only 1 or 2 perfect IVs and may only rate "above average." After spending 30 hours getting that one good pokemon, then you need to EV train it... it's a nightmare.

If no one cloned/hacked/rnged then the reward (having a better than average poke on your team) would be worth the time spent. But I'd be shocked if anyone who won consistently competitively wasn't using clones or is an RNGer themselves.
