Looks like fun to me, I'm DLing now. If you pre-order you also get to keep your beta character. Then next week Saturday, April 28 at 12:00 PM Pacific is early access followed by official launch May 1st.

Was watching this one for a long time. Looking forward to some new shiny action MMO goodness.

Yeah it may be one of those weekends when I impulse buy a new graphics card. Although I think my aging PNY gtx460 OC can still hang for now we will have to see.

Game has some serious shiny to it if you go out and watch some of the beta videos.

It should be noted that even with relatively weak graphic cards the game is still playable. Sure you won't be able to see everything in high def glory but the way they handled loading people and npc's allows for a smoother game play than one would expect.

At least that how it was a month ago. Will find out if it is still like that once it finishes patching itself.

Huh, might check this out. I am still not fully sold on what MMO I am going to be playing over the next year or two - this one seemed neat, but I've heard mixed reviews

It is a fun game, no doubt about it. Very action-y. If you are really good you can do things that are really impressive, if you lack said skill you will struggle. Smiley: tongue That said different classes feel different and actually play differently. People in plate move slower than leather and cloth. If you use a big weapon you attack slower. All the good stuff.

So far I've tried out Slayer and Mystic.

Slayer was a lot of fun, but I think the attack speed is just a tad too slow for my tastes. Dunno if that's standard or not, so I might just need to get used to it in general.

I want to try Warrior, Ranger, Sorcerer and Berserker later.

I just started. Did not get time to play last night. Ima female Castanic warrior. Smiley: drool glomp.

Game looks amazing so far. I started off trying to use my xbox joystick but went back to KB for now. The fact that I have a built in option makes me really happy.

And Sand I dunno why yours is so slow. Maybe you just waited to long. When I DLed it Wednesday night it was screaming in at over 3MB/S.

So far I've tried Warrior, Archer, Berserker, Slayer, Mystic, and Sorcerer.

Archer is ridiculously easy to play. I didn't like Sorcerer or Mystic. Slayer was fun, but a little too slow for me (not necessarily speed of swings, but the ability to keep hitting a mob for staggers). Warrior was a nice speed, but I was much less interested in the skills than with Slayer. Berseker I accidentally skipped the Prologue, so I just tested combat speed and glanced at tooltips. Don't think it's for me.

Still need to try Lancer and Priest. But, as of right now, if I buy the game I'd probably go Slayer.

I took my warrior to level 12 and got off noob island. I like the class I find it quite fun. I'm working on an archer on another server now just to try it out. So far I think you may be right it is strong early on and I am speeding through mobs like crazy.

But I don't mind that.

Yeah--it's mostly because nothing really has the ability to catch up to you. Auto-fire them as they run towards you, backstep if they get to close, pepper in power shots for slightly better dps (though that barely even matters). Enough of your shots will make them flinch that you're pretty much never in danger.

I've tried Lancer, Archer and Sorcerer(?).
I do not like the prologue...you don't really do anything but fight that one semi-large group with the NPC and then the boss (because if you climb up the ladders, engage a zombie, and then jump off back into the water...by the time you climb back up they will be dead. Attacking seems to trigger the NPC soldiers to attack XD) and then you lose all your abilities. You just get a glimps at what you can be o.O

I found I like controller play more than keyboard, but that is due to using a game-pad rather than my keyboard (I don't have the F keys on it, so I was basically not using half my skills >.>). I never did find out how to change the option between the 2 once you had started and made the pick.

The servers were full to try other classes so that is all I got to try out. Will keep an eye on it and it may be something I pick up and play in a few months.

It's just a preview to see some of your higher level skills for the beta. My archer is off noob island now in about half the time it took my warrior. Things like Kugai and Karacha were gravy on the archer.

Between piercing shot and Volley archer is beast. Enjoying the game so far.

The prologue was thrown in right before open beta to allow people to see some of what classes could do at higher levels.

Also, comparing the archer or sorcerer to the warrior is about as apples to oranges as you can get. Each class has a difficulty rating and the archer and sorcerer are both two stars, the easiest classes in the game, and the warrior is the only 5 star, the hardest class in the game.

As far as going from a keyboard/mouse to a controller, use whichever one you want. They both have their own set of hotkeys, so you can go from one to the other on the fly. Just hit select on the controller to get into the controller manager. For those who are using a controller, make sure you adjust how you attack. It's best to have melee attack which way they face, and have ranged attack which way the camera faces. It's selectable in the controller manager window.

I can see mystic being some pretty good soloing potential as well. Not as much output as an archer but decent at least at low level and nice heals and mana regen.

Funniest thing I saw yesterday was a mystic named Balls.everwhere. I got off the pegasus after leaving the island and the entire courtyard and stairway into the city was filled with mystic balls. Some other mystics even decided to help his art project. It ended up looking great and at the end he decried:

"Are you not entertained by my balls!?!"

I wasn't really enjoying Mystic, but it was also the first thing I tried. I think it probably uses more of the complex mechanics than other classes.

It's apparently, according to other players, the lowest dps class. As in it will do half of what a Priest (next lowest) can, despite both of them being the healers. But that will probably be balanced out, unless there's some really specific reason for it that I'm missing. It is group-oriented, afterall, so if it buffs other players way more than a Priest can...

But I digress. :P I want to like it, because I generally prefer magic classes but wasn't loving sorcerer. We'll see.

When is the open beta weekend ending--sometime today? It's still available now.

I got my Sorc to 23 this weekend. She is really starting to have a nice ******* of spells for different purposes. I also ran the first instance Bastion of Lok. It was not overly difficult as expected of a level 20 dungeon but was plenty of fun. I did die once when I pulled threat on Soulcrusher and he decided to rofl stomp jump slam me from across the room.

The second run I got a blue sorc weapon and enchanted it up to +3, so I am feeling pretty pimpin now.

The zones you get into after the island continue to be quite ascetically pleasing and fun places to quest and level. Oh, and I tried to solo a BAM like those pro's do on the Korean youtube videos. I got a Basilisk down to like 50% after 10 minutes or so of kiting before ******** up and getting terrain blocked. Splat. So I just got a group to kill them with a real tank and that was much faster.

Honestly I dunno how long the game will stay this fun, 1-2 months is about my average limit to time with one MMO but for now I am having a blast with it.

My Sorc is 30 now. I ran the second instance and the difficulty is picking up in a nice way. The last boss was a serious challenge. Like a 5 man raid. We whiped 4-5 times and replaced our War tank who did not get the concept of taunt dodge kite THE BOSS IS MEAN. We finally got him down after about a 20 minute fight with 3-4 brezzes. Good times.

Still loving this game atm.

I've been pondering this game, I wish I'd gotten in on the beta action because I am too afraid of getting burned to buy it before launch otherwise. Also, I'm currently subbed to another mmo, and don't have time to play it, or minecraft or any of the other games I haven't finished... also bought 20+ Ace Double sci fi books this weekend.

As far as I can tell, there's just the free 30 day trial with purchase.

I'd give it a few months. MMOs are a fairly cutthroat industry now, at least where subs are concerned. Once they have all stability issues and such worked out, they'll probably release a friend trial program.

Though they are a Korean company, not a Western one, so the business techniques might not bring them that way. Dunno what Asian business trends are.

Warning: Big long post inc: TLDR version. Game is really fun. Warrior is my calling.

Their is an American company that did the conversion and port to English.

I don't know about any friend passes or trials yet. The jump start thing was just for pre release I think. I figured I would buy it because I spend just as much on a single player game that I fully expect to be done with in a month or less. However I think this one may last me a bit longer.

I got a bit tired of the mechanics on Sorc in the 30's. I was running away a lot and so many of the spells arc or lob that as mob AI improved I was being frustrated with how much I missed and how fast they charged my **** and knocked me down.

Game difficulty really picks up post 30. That includes both solo and group content. Mostly it's a good thing as leveling is actually really really fun and not just a chore to get to some destination where the "real" game begins.

So I picked my War back up because they are like a freakin sword blender. Tons of awesome combo moves the flow together like a haiku poem about a hot knife slicing butter. Also war plays really well with an xbox controller. You can hotkey all your moves easy because the top bumper pads alternate the available buttons. I find it easier to access a large ******* of moves because unlike KB I am not trying to stretch my left hand all the way over to key 9-10 when I need those abilities. Instead I simply hit left bumper and the move is right where I want it on X Y A B.

But the real beauty of War kicks in when you are in your 30's. You get this move called traverse cut and another called blade draw. After that Pounce combos to Traverse cut (15 hits of stabbing nitro awesome) which combos to blade draw (Huge stab and slash.) The way combos work is once you hit the combo starter you can chain the rest with your chain key if you time it as each move finishes.

It works really well. I mostly use two combos. So all I need is the starter button then the chain button for each. Now this may sound simple. But keep in mind you are constantly positioning, moving and watching out for oh crap big move coming. So I need to keep my dodges (I have 3 now) at the ready and as a castanic I get extra damage to the back so I try to stay back their since I also have gems that increase crits to the back.

Along the way you will get quests for BAMs (Big *** Monsters) think monster hunter. These are optional for the most part. But here is the thing. THEY ARE REALLY FUN. I have felt the urge to group with people in this game far more than I normally would just because fighting these BAMs is such a rush. They are designed for 5 people but you can take them out with far less if you are skilled at avoiding damage. Early on I was able to even patiently solo some of them on my War since we are a hybrid dodge tank or DPS.

About tanking as War. I don't do it primarily. We move the BAM's too much with all our dodging and it make the job of the DPS much harder than having a Rock solid Lancer turtled up in front of it.

I will say this though, even though I am speced for DPS. I have saved parties from wipes when the Lancer goes down by switching to tank stance, taunting and kiting the boss until the Lancer can get a brez. I even have this awesome Shadow Clone I can drop. It will inherent all of my threat and tank the mob for a few seconds to give me a breather while I get set up for what needs to be done. So I taunt, drop clone, switch stances save the party and feel like a hero lol.

My dps is less than a Sorc's or Slayers. But I also debuf mob defense by up to 17% with Traverse cut + Combo Strike. So those squishy sorcs can super crit the mob that much harder with their fiery glass canons lol.

Ok that's enough for now. Caveat that I cannot promise you will like the game, or that even I will play it for years to come. But for now I'm getting my monies worth of entertainment from it.
