I thought Insanity for single player was balanced much better than ME2... except Marauder Shields... but I used my max level character for Insanity in ME2, which makes things 10x more difficult, I'm told.

I did my insanity run on soldier and even then, I remember having lots and lots of extra credits. Most gear is free and I only used a small portion of the guns.
In the end, I think I just upgraded all my guns just to "complete" things, but I found it is worth it to max the guns for your squad first if you haven't done so already. It surprised me how much more damage my squad put out (and I never rely on them for anything for some reason). I found SMGs and, surprisingly, snipers worked well for them. Assault rifles have issue with armor (ammo powers and mods help a lot though), shotguns got everyone killed, and they like body shots with pistols for some reason.

Weight reduction and spare ammo can be significant when upgrading, so there is that. Since you use your squad powers and they shoot regardless if you want or not, this allows them to use bigger weapons while keeping cool down low (and maybe taking alternative upgrade options).

For adept, personally, I'd max out a Carnifax, Paladin, or Wraith then whatever your squad uses and be done with guns. This either makes you a light weight sniper (between power uses) or a force to be reckoned with at close range (in case something sneaks up on you).

Widow or Black Widow are good too, but heavy. For teammates, the Widow is significantly better as it's higher damage, lower weight, and ammo doesn't matter to them.
You could also invest in a gun that's not meant for damage such as the falcon. It staggers most everything, which may save your *** if a phantom gets too close or prevents Cerberus from dodging your powers.

As far as what else to buy... no, there really isn't anything else (I believe).

A fully leveled Adept is also easy-mode in ME3, to be honest. Not saying Insanity is a cake walk with them, but I have difficulty seeing anything actually competing with their ability to control a battle field.

Just with Adept Skills, you have Singularity and Pull, which give you a ridiculous ability to lock down enemies when fully leveled. Them plus Warp to set up combos. Throw, Warp, and Shockwave to detonate combos. Warp for Barriers and Armor. Shockwave and Throw if anything gets close. Shockwave for anything through a wall or crates, etc. Cluster Grenades to @#$% everything up more.

Then they can take Energy Drain, to strip shields, Stasis to add even more control, Barrier for heightened defenses and more biotic oomph, Reave for even more combos and damage (particularly vs. armor/barriers), Dark Channel for rapid biotic setups, Warp Ammo if you don't want to focus on detonations for a mission. Nearly everything you cna get is useful.

Not to mention how absurdly good at detonating they are. Singularity -> Warp -> Throw/Shockwave for a double detonation. If you have the Omega DLC, you can use lash to expand this to three, or combine flare and a detonation for huge damage.

Yeah, biotic explosions are awesome!

Finally got to some Citadel content; specifically, the missions. Great so far, but tough as nails for an adept: EVERY enemy has Shields. Argh, shields... my kryptonite! Still, I'm close to the end of the missions and they have been great so far; just the right mixture of hilarious, difficult (SHIELDS!!!) and lore-filled. Selecting EDI for The Battle of the Normandy was a great idea. Her expression on the cab, and Joker and Shepard's reaction, had me with tears streaming.

Dialogue is great so far, and having Wrex back is fun, although a bit useless on Insanity as even with the amazing health and regen he tends to die. Very much looking forward to the end of the content, as I hear that's where the real value of the DLC is. Still, it's held up quite well so far, besides the somewhat awkward intro, which basically went:

Anderson: Shepard! How you holding up?
Shepard: Well, you know. Trying to build the Crucible. I bet you have it tough, huh?
Anderson: Each hour is a battle for survival. But know what? I have an apartment on the Citadel. Go blow off some steam! We need you at your best!
Shepard: Uh, Anderson? Isn't every hour a struggle for survival?
Anderson: Yeah, but I'm not using it. Besides, I left like 15 minutes of monologue about my life on datapads all around the place. It would be a shame to waste them.
Shepard: Sir, I really think I should be getting a move on to, you know, try and save our homeworld-
Anderson: Dammit Sherpard, that's an order!
Sherpard: ... Yes sir. Oh! Hot tub!

I don't have any single player DLC, so I don't know how they come in to the game, but...

At least in multiplayer, there are a few weapons that deal a ton of damage of shields. One example, the acolyte, will pretty much remove shields from anything with 1-2 shots. This can also be used with a power amplifier (DLC mod) since it is a pistol. I imagine they have the same bonuses in single player.

So I finished up most of the Citadel stuff, including the party. Honestly, I felt like the party was... almost a little bit of let-down, from all the hype I heard. Yes, some of the conversations were pretty funny, and it was a hoot watching ME2 characters interact with ME3 ones, but the most "LOL" moments were not part of the party; like Joker's story about how he killed a bunch of Cerberus troops with an Atlas, or Zaeed's reactions with the claw game, or Traynor's game of space chess. Thane's memorial was really well done, and while I enjoyed Mordin's recordings, I wish they had had the original voice actor do them.

Still, all-in-all it was a good time. A good way to end the game... though I'm still right before Thessia, so the game isn't quite over... but I might just stop it here Smiley: tongue

Thessia is good, and the missions after that (there's still a few) are worth doing.

Oh, I've beaten the game already. I'm just saying that I feel like leaving on a high note, which is what the Citadel DLC offered. The ending is still totally BLAH.

The Mordin VA thing has always confused me. IIRC, they never even contacted the original actor to see if he wanted to reprise his role. That just seems odd. I get tightening a budget so you think you can't recruit him, but it's (to me, at least) worse to burn that bridge by not even asking than by offering too little.

Be up front about the fact that Mordin is playing a lesser role, which means the budget for the talent there is lower. If the VA is fine with it, awesome. If not, at least he understands why things are the way they are, and actually had the final say.

It's just so odd to me.

What do you think about Citadel DLC? Is it worth buying?

Depends on what you expect out of it, and what kind of player you are. It's great if you really loved the characters and their interactions. It's good for some extra lore (not as good as, say, Leviathan or From Ashes, though). It's good if you want a "happy ending" (even though it's not an ending). It's AMAZING if you have credits to spare and love gambling and minigames. It's ok if you like combat. It's downright terrible if you felt ME3 is supposed to be gritty and dark and hate levity during wartime.

I think it was worth it, but $15 is a little steep for 4 hours of content. Though there's a lot of optional stuff with the Armax Arena and the games at the arcade/casino, which could add several more hours I suppose.

Oh, and you get an assault rifle with infinite ammo. That's kinda neat, I guess?
