I glanced through my Indie Gala bundles today. There were a lot of games that had Steam Keys added that I didn't realize. I added 8 games, 4 of which had cards.

So, Public Service Announcement: Keep an eye on those things.

Edit:
Also, Buy 1000 gems for 62 cents. Craft booster pack with cards worth $1.20. $1.31, even after all the fees.

I accidentally got two Steam keys from a Groupees bundle game that finally got released on Steam, and that kind of makes me feel bad.

I forget what thread it was originally mentioned in, but Darkest Dungeon is actually worth the Early Access Price. It's closer to being a complete game than being a beta as videos below will demonstrate.

Yeah, I bought into the scam. I have to say I'm pretty happy with the purchase.

Twenty bucks is too rich for my blood. I am looking at Besiege (aka Kerbal Catapult Program) for seven bucks. Not to make a direct comparison since Shaowstrike says DD is a complete experience but I like the Besiege dev's statement that its current price reflects the current state of completion and content. As they expand on the game, the price will increase. How it should be for these early access titles.

My brother seems to like construction games on Steam. Besieged was the first game he has bought in some 6 months. He hasn't said anything to me about it though. He also bought Bridge It Plus I think the same day.

He has bought maybe 5 games on steam but has almost 250 in his Steam library because he ends up getting most of my bundle scraps. Yet he won't use idle master to get the cards to sell. I told him at the very least he should idle all his cards and give them to me so I can sell them instead. Still have seen him start. I'm tempted to install team viewer on his counter one day when he is still at work and sneak in there one night to turn it in and steal his cards.

Darkest Dungeon was really fun until they wrecked the game this week with a patch. There is this whole battle on the O forums between "Any viable strategy should be nerfed until the game is unplayable!" and "Um the game used to be hard but fun, now it's a ****** dps race..."

I'm in the second group sadly. Which apparently makes me a total coward who does not like roguelikes, difficult games, or baby geebus.

I got Dark Souls cred kids. The patch just limited half of the the viable strats to play and turned it into a ****** dps race.

I guess this is the risk you run when you buy into the early access scam. I'll give it a couple of weeks before I play it again and see what's what.

The Brazilians are selling Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition for $1.40 (3.99 Brazilian Reais).
It also has about 20-25 cents worth of cards. So 90% off (over, actually) plus another 20 cents in Wallet Funds.

Yeah this is my thought, these early access games that charge more than retail get my goat. I'm interested in darkest dungeon but why would I pay $20 for early access when it will likely be available for $10 at full release? I was tempted so many times to buy wasteland 2 early - but I waited till steam sale and I was SO GLAD I did. The game is decent but if I had paid the early access price I would have been very choked.

And I get attached to things I like so I would probably nerd rage hard if they messed with things I liked while I was playing the game.

Are you saying that early access titles are charging more for the early access than they are for full price release? Cause that's not really true. Unless you mean that they are charging more than they are for "half a year down the road when it's on sale after release".

Like Wasteland 2 and Divinity, both were basically full price (minus an occasional small sale) during Early Access and at release time. Some time later they went on sale. But that is true for non-EA games as well. Don't buy a game at release, and you'll save money when it goes on sale later in its life.

While I can't fault you for being mad that they are full price games during EA, it seems misleading to be mad that they are "more than retail". Or paying "early access price" like EA prices are higher than release prices. That may be true is a very few cases (but I can't actually think of an example)... but it's notlike "EA Price" is more than release price.

There were a few games that originated on Kickstarter that charged more for EA on Steam than retail, Planetary Annihilation is one example. The reason for that is they were charging the same price for EA as they had Kicksterters pledge for Alpha/Beta access. In that case it was only fair to those who supported the project from the beginning.

Wasteland 2 started with a high EA price, pretty much soaking people nostalgia-desperate to get in on Wasteland 2. The base game is $40, early access to the base game was $60. Planetary Annihilation famously was $90 for EA and is now $30.

For the most part, games priced higher than MSRP for EA is the exception though. But in my opinion they should really be priced significantly lower than their eventual "box price" since you're getting an unfinished product. No reason for them to price as such though when plenty of people are happy to spend $20-$30 on an alpha build.
