I've had dragons that are distracted by other things, so that might be a possible reason.

Sometimes, a dragon will swoop down to attack me, quickly realize that I'm not a push over, take off only to attack the imperial soldiers just up the hill. This is after I've already taken out a good chunk of its HP.

Well, I assume it isn't. Because it has been the case for me on every single play through since launch (on PS3). And looking back, I'm finding posts about it all the way back to November.

There IS a glitch with the high level dragons (who will follow you until one of you is dead) where they "aggro" but never attack. They'll just follow you forever, keeping you from quick traveling. But I only heard about that with reference to the backwards fliers, not ones who actually fly overhead.

[EDIT]

wiki wrote:
Although most commonly hostile, occasionally dragons will fly around as if you're not there, but eventually dragons will catch sight of something they wish to attack (Excludes Alduin).

As long as they aren't following you forever, I don't think it's a glitch.

Hmm...if that's the case, then I'd say it's an oversight. It's unintuitive to have an enemy that's totally okay with you beating on it.

You are actually damaging it? Like, the health bar appears? I've had plenty of dragons who will just fly overhead, but none of them ever get damaged, even when I "hit" them with something like a Shock spell (where you can be sure of an actual hit).

I think the ones flying overhead are generally supposed to stay out of range. That can be hard, given varying terrain, but they aren't supposed to be easily hit. Even if you score one, the health bar shouldn't appear. If they do attack something else, that does "unlock" them though.

Ya im going with bug, dragons would attack me if I attacked them, now they just keep flying in circles. Which is kind of annoying because I can't kill them and thus can't fast travel, so I have to run out of their range so I can move around quickly. Not to mention the only souls ive been able to get are at dragon shrines (only 1 left ;;) which means I can't unlock more shouts (granted I don't use the ones i have but point stands)

Yeah, they're taking damage. I've actually never encountered one that doesn't take damage, oddly enough. These ones are just otherwise unresponsive.

Weirdness.

I'm gonna say that's a bug then. I'm guessing that they are the dragons that are supposed to be ignoring you, but the script is somehow muddled with the attacking dragons.

@rdm NONE? Well, Dragons seem to prefer targets on the high ground--have you tried ascending a mountain?

Also, if you progress the main story, you'll get a shout that forces dragons to land.

Since either patch 1.4 or since I completed the main story, I have not had a dragon attack me other than at a dragon mark on the map (the spawned ones by word walls). I have dragonrend and it works on the dragons at the walls, but the other dragons just fly in circles non stop, like Eske, I can damage them, my pets can damage them, but they do not respond. They are also unresponsive to NPC agression like they were in the past, say archers shooting them or what have you.

Like I said it doesn't bother me that much because I don't use shouts often anyway, but it is a minor irritation dealing with travel restriction where they pop up.

So... I feel dumb. Help me understand this (I suck at mods).

I went to the Steam Workshop. I subscribed to several mods, and was told that the next time I opened Skyrim, they would automatically download. I open Skyrim and see no downloads, and no mods in game.

How do I download and install these mods? I'm cold and scared in this strange new technological world Smiley: frown

Behold!

Are you running the Skyrim game launcher, or launching the game directly using a Mod Manager?

Something I discovered about the Fall of the Space Core mod.

When you open up your skills and view the constellations, with the mod installed Wheatley will be floating around through the space and constellations.

I literally laughed out loud.

fixed the problem. I deleted the patch and reinstalled it on the next play dragons now try to eat me again. Mustve just been a bunk patch or something.

and now my ps3 keeps freezing. Why is this game so frustrating on PS3. can only have 1 auto save, freezes every other day, pain in the *** 9/10.

I blame Bethesda, but mostly I blame myself for not going with the PC version.

Mine has been decent since I last raged about it here. Zam has magical powers to fix things after you rant about them. Super useful for bad drop rates back when I played FFXI...

Anybody know the console command to change an NPC's outfit? I married the cute miner lady from the town north of Riften and quickly got tired of seeing her lounge about the house in her dirty miner's get-up, so I added a dress and some jewelry on her and equipped them in the console. However, every time I go back into my house, she's in her dirty miner's gear. Using the inventory command, I noticed that this gear is marked as "Outfit" in the console.

Any ideas?

If the NPC outfit system is anything like Fallout: New Vegas' system, then the miner gear most likely has a higher DR (Damage Resistance) buff than the outfit you gave her. You will need to use the Creation Kit to raise the DR for the other outfit, since NPC prioritize outfits based on that buff.

This one? The wiki has some options for changing her equipment, I think.

Guess she's a popular choice, on account of looking almost like a human. I mean, almost all of the other ones look something like this. Yipes. I almost wonder why they even bothered making them marriageable.

With her clothes off, she has the same body as everyone else! So you only have to live with the face and get a hundred gold a day for it...

Ridiculous lack of taste, would be my guess. Probably the same reason they didn't make some girls marriageable that should have been.

I'm still happy with my choice for the simple lulz of killing her ex and the woman who was like a sister to her(which results in the death of that woman's mother from grief) as a prerequisite to marriage, but I may have chosen differently had Hroki been an option.

Going to try all out melee, took both one hand, two hand, light armor + heavy armor. I got Wuuthrad last night so I decided I would spec great axe and mace. I figure with the busted *** armor/weapon crafting/enchanting process I can really do anything with this build, Even casting.

Going to avoid as much story content (except Thieves Guild/Champions) as I can while I level up and make cash by other means.

Should be fun I hope. (Wuuthrad is seriously over powered at early levels, almost as much as the Conjured Bow.)

I think you'd be wise to think critically about a few things.

1. As it stands, you are taking 7 skills up to 100, and not leveling anything else. So you will have an arbitrary level cap of 49. This will be lower if you start with a race that has bonuses to this skill, probably reducing your cap to 48.

The amount of experience required per level is (level * 25) + 75. So level 1 takes 100 experience, level 2 takes 125, level 3 takes 150, etc.

The amount of experience gained is the skill level acquired. So getting One-handed 20 is 20 experience, Heavy Armor 50 is 50 experience, etc.

Assuming you are starting at 15 in those skills, just because it is easier, it's 4930*7=34510 experience. Level 49 requires 34300 experience.

So you'll have 48 perks to use.

Your build didn't work for me, so I have no clue what you actually intend to take. But just smithing, enchanting, and alchemy will take you to level 22. 23 if you intend to wear light armor. That leaves only 25 perks. You'd probably want 8-9 in Light Armor, to get the stam regen and then the chance for damage avoidance (more important for you without a shield). Add in 1 to account for the increase in smithing needs so you can use dragon armor.

Not gonna touch Heavy Armor, since I don't know what you'd want from it. Could be fewer points, could be more.

You are looking at as many as 13 in Two-handed. One Handed (assuming you intend to DW) would be at least 15.

Meaning, you can't get everything with a level cap of 49.

Honestly, I would just focus perks in the Light Armor and either One- or Two-handed trees. But use Heavy Armor while you are getting your smithing up, to raise your level (since you won't be crafting light armor until you get dragon). DW (with no weapon specializations), light armor, and the important smithing/alchemy/enchanting perks will bring you to level 45.

Then you can either place your last 3 points in a weapon spec or in increasing weapon enchant effectiveness or in making poisons better.

You will, of course, need to get two-handed to 100 perk-free, though.

just because I am not putting perks into things doesn't mean I won't be getting skills in them. My level cap is 81. Just like everyone else that plays the game.

So think critically about that.

No worries, I am bad at getting my point across sometimes so I won't fault you for misreading my gibberish.

Ive got to say though

1. Conjure Bow
2. Wuthrad

Are incredibly powerful for the levels which you can get them. It is almost unfair. I try to make it hard for myself by using my gimpy 1H weapons, but those Mace to Face critical kills are just as common as the one shots with the above items.

I think I will have to increase my level via Smithing and Enchanting and artificially underlevel my combat skills to make the game more challenging. Straight melee is much more powerful than my stealthy assassin or super mage were.

Fun steam rolling ****, but not fun when the only thing that hurts me is when I jump off a cliff.
