I do agree with that. I almost wish they were more like (dare I say it?) the companions in SWTOR. While not amazingly lifelike, they at least have more than three lines, make witty lines during quests, and have some personal quests.

Ideally, they'd have the same kind of interaction that you get from the companions in Dragon Age. God, can you imagine running around Skyrim with Morrigan? Oh man, someone mod her into the game right now!

BAM!

It would be hard to have witty banter between companions since you're only allowed to have one. And it's hard to hold a conversation with a horse.

Ok, additional effects are cool... I just wish we had some additional quests and lines as well. That could be fun to mod in... who wants to do some voice acting? Smiley: grin

Morrigan looks as though she took a couple rough hits while traveling between worlds. Now I understand why she didn't want me following her.

My bag used to always be packed, then a few things happened:

1. Picked up the heavy armor conditioning perk, so all that heavy armor that I wore... no longer weighed anything.
2. I realized that almost anything I craft will net me more gold than some random orc axe of blaze.

Also, I stopped picking up dragon bones because I already have 3000 of each of them.
My issue is that you need two worthless (mostly worthless) perks to get the conditioning perk. Seems a waste.
Too true, but unfortunately I have such a hard time justifying even using full heavy armor without it. For this very reason, my "thought out" character will probably be using light armor almost exclusively and the difference made up with magic. Plus, with the exception of Ebony Mail, there really are not many unique heavy armor pieces or sets. Since I'm aiming for a build that will allow me to take on any roll (mage, warrior, thief, etc.), I've budgeted enough points to allow for me to pick the perk up again, but those will be the last ones I spend most likely.

Honestly, if you cap out the Light Armor perk tree and level Smithing/Alchemy to put some strong stats on it, you won't notice the difference between Daedric and Dragonscale armor. My Dragonscale set has over a 900 Armor rating, my Deadric set is higher, but not much gets through 900 to begin with, so having more is kind of pointless.

There's the aesthetic factor, of course, but I don't really like the dark look of the high-level heavy armors.

I liked the Ebony Armor set, but then I downloaded a mod that made the Nightingale Armor blank by default, allowing me to enchant it with whatever. Definitely the coolest light armor set in the game. I don't care if I can't max out armor rating without going Dragonscale. I did find a mod that replaces the Dragonscale model with the Nightingale model, but I'm already invincible. Not only do I two-shot dragons (swords, bow, doesn't matter), I can take on an entire town at once and not get a dent. I'm not even maxed in Light Armor either.

Alas, the game has lost its hold on me. I've completed the Dark Brotherhood, the Thieves Guild, the civil war and the main storyline arcs. I know there's still the Mage's College, but I'm not a magic wielder anymore, so I've no real interest in doing it.

I also solved my love/hate relationship with Lydia. Married that wannabe merchant chick from Whiterun in the hopes that Lydia would actually give a ****. She showed up to the wedding, but she was all "I'm happy for you *le sigh*" so I snapped and shot her in the face. Twice. Then I proceeded to murder the chick I just married so I could inherit her wealth.

Speaking of the wedding ceremony, I was disappointed by the lack of attendees. I've helped everyone, everywhere, with everything, but only three people showed up to my wedding. What the hell?

At level 21 now and starting to feel considerably more powerful. Blowing away weaker foes with a single double-cast fire bolt and managing to hold my own against more powerful enemies. Been dumping most of my perks between Destruction and Enchantment with a minor in Conjuration but I think I might start picking up some Alteration for the defensive (armor) spell perks.

I recommend grabbing Quiet Casting from the illusion tree, it has proven to be incredibly valuable especially combined with invisible (spell). When I get in over my head, Ill summon a fresh Atronach, cast invisible, and sneak to a corner. From there I can blow people up undetected (as long as my sneaking holds out, in which case I just repeat the process and move if i am detected).

It is really an invaluable tool, especially once you get to the point where some enemies aggressive attacks can one shot you.

As for alteration, the ultimate spell dragonhide is awesome, 80% physical reduction and depending on perks, it will last for 3 minutes. Just be sure to have high enough MP (need 650 after master alteration) or enough cost reduction gear. (since 650 will make you a glass canon id go the MP reduction route.)

Damage reduction is capped at 80%. If you are wearing all four pieces of armor, this occurs at 567 displayed armor rating. If you have 100 skill and all relevant armor perks, this requires a tempered armor rating of about 135. You can increase your tempered armor rating by 1 roughly every 2 points of Smithing with the appropriate perk, or every 4 without. Therefore, at 100 Smithing you will need 85 base armor with the appropriate perk, which is not achievable without a shield with Light Armor (though Dragonscale comes close at 82 for the set) and requires at least a Steel Plate set for Heavy Armor. With Fortify Smithing enchanted apparel and Smithing potions you can boost Smithing even further, which can potentially allow any material for which a Smithing perk exists to reach the cap. At the extreme end, you will need about 126 Smithing to make Steel Armor hit the cap, and about 154 Smithing for an Elven set. Unfortunately, Fur, Hide, Studded, Leather, and Iron armors are not affected by any Smithing perks and so cannot be improved as much.
With the aid of enchanting (fortify smithing) and pre-made enchanting and smithing potions, and of course the appropriate armor perks, you can reach the armor cap with any style or type of armor in the game, even hide and iron armor. All without even using a shield.
Shields, spells, and the Lord Stone can reduce the base armor required to hit the cap even further, but these require more management.
There are several in-game effects and perks that ignore or bypass a given percentage of armor, so there is some value in having an armor rating that exceeds this cap.

950 doesn't even make a small difference over 900, realistically. Maybe having 600 armor would be better than 537, just to take care of the armor pen attacks, but even then...

Maxing the Light Armor tree will only give useful perks, and it only takes 10 points. One of those perks increases stamina regen by 50%, which is definitely significant (Run forever!)

The Heavy Armor tree takes 12 points, becuase there are two worthless perks in there--Cushioning and Fists of Steel. Though I suppose that can be tempered by not taking the 100 point perk (10% reflect--useless because you'll only reflect back 20% of their attack and will melt faces anyway).

Strictly speaking, Light Armor is strongly superior to Heavy Armor, because of the stam regen alone.

So the fact that 80% damage reduction is easy to reach through ~600 armor, does this make the Dragonskin spell completely useless when not using clothes?

If you've taken all your armor talents and upgraded your armor, yes. But it's also an alternative for players who don't want to deal with those perk trees (at the expense of having to recast it every 3 minutes).

Though that spell is quite useful for Mages who are stretched thin on perks, since they don't need to take the Mage Armor perk or any armor skills.

Ya it is super awesome for a pure mage build and 3 minutes is a very generous time frame for recasting. (especially with all the escape abilities a pure mage has to buy time to recast it.)

Mage is super fun, I can't wait until I get my ultimate spells though, will be a lot of fun making white run beat the sh*t out of each other then me and my firestorm finishing them off.

I wonder If I could have the people of the none zoned cities (ie. Riverwood) follow me around the world, to other such cities, and just have an all out brawl on a mountain somewhere. That would be fun.

(I am going to try pure combat next, prolly 2 handed as I already did stealth mode.)

The giants will respawn eventually.

Dragons don't respawn at the dragon shrines (that I can remember), but once you advance the main storyline past a certain point, they start randomly ambushing you in the open world. Death from above!

IIRC, there's a mod in the Steam Workshop that moves all of the enclosed main cities (Whiterun, Solitude, Windhelm, etc.) into the open-world Skyrim gamespace, meaning you can just waltz right in from the wilderness without loading. And, potentially, enslave all of the residents and lead them around the countryside.

Dragons at walls will respawn I think. But the respawns won't give souls.

Otherwise, dragons out in the world are random spawns, and will happen for the rest of the game once you trigger them.

On that note, my game has taken to spawning dragons that don't aggress. They'll zip around and roar, but no amount of arrows, spells, or shouts will make them pay attention to me. They don't appear to attack other NPCs or creatures, either.

That's the great thing about Skyrim...every week it's a new and interesting bug.

Ive been having the same issue, had 2 dragons spawn in the same area and neither would even acknowledge me, or any of the wild life in the area (ive had giants tank dragons for me in the past). Seems to either be an issue since 1.4 or because I finished the main story. I dunno, I only use sprint, push anyhow so not like i need souls.

Only downside is going to be when they magically want to play again and I just get eaten for no reason.

I wish my game would be glitched like that. It seems like every time I warp, enter a city, or just take a stroll, two or three dragons feel the need to try to kill me. ME!! The dragonborn, killer of Alduin.

I have over 150 souls stored up.

It's not a bug--not all dragons will attack you. I believe it's a random chance to spawn, and a random chance to aggro. They are added for the ambiance and suspense.

If you get the Dragon...whatever shout, you can force them to land though.

You sure? It's only been a recent occurrence for me...never happened on my first playthrough, that's for sure.

I'm hesitant to believe that the dragons are programmed to ignore attacks. I've definitely caught them with arrows, spells, and shouts, and they don't react.
