Skyrim, or, How I Ruined My LifeFollow

Got a couple of arrows embedded in your chest? That's becuase you are saving them for later. Simply take your arrows and store them in your storage (not human) chest. This will instantly remove them from your flesh. After you can safely take them back out and equip them without fear of self poking.

And I'm totally debating on whether or not I think the magicka enchanting thing is too broken to use. Because then I could invest in health and leave my magicka as-is for the time being... And that sounds pretty swell, since I'm TOTALLY a glass cannon.

Hmmm...

I mean, I could always stop earlier to make it less broken, if I wanted... But getting free Destruction spells and only having to pay for my restoration/conjuration just sounds tasty.

If you think it's too broken, just keep the Archmage robes and skip the chest. :D

Daaww. Smiley: blush

Totally self discovered though on that tip. Was so relieved to see those arrows finally gone after I tried the idea. I suppose just dropping your arrows and picking them back up would probably do the trick as well though I have not confirmed that like with the storage chest.

In other news I'm in full (Legendary)Dragon Plate now Rawr! Plus I liberated Skyrim from the empire in my spare time.

I'm delving into the main quest pretty hard now. With just the occasional wandering for dragon words or priests when I see them pop on my radar.

I'm a thane in 3/9 holds. Debating skipping Riften and Winterhold entirely on this run, because I want to play a thief/mage in another game. Got enchanting up to about 75/100, and sitting at level 37 right now. Figure I'll sink my perks into that once I hit 100, enchant all my dragonbone stuff (since it will take 3+ worthless perks to get Daedra items), and then just work on the main quest.

Picking locks and pockets is addicting. I think a sneaky rogue type will be my next character.

Yeah, I worded it poorly, I think. What I meant was that you couldn't attack with both hands except for power attacks, but I've since then found out that you can do regular attacks with both weapons at the same time as well.

My Battlemage is coming along nicely. It's just a shame that I don't use more spells than I do. And it's a shame that there aren't any light armor helmets that don't look like absolute crap. I'm still wearing a hood because of it, but with the light armor perks I'm getting, I'll want to switch to full light armor soon.

Flames plus a one-handed is win, though. Apply fire and bash/cut until win, which is usually one or two swings on regular enemies.

Well, I've finished the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood, now to decide if I want to bother with the mages guild still since I stopped wanting to use magic...

Is there anyway to clean up Riften? Every quest I'm getting there seems to revolve around stealing something, or ******** someone over...

Kinda off-topic, but I do like that dealing death can often be a valid choice. In Markareth, for example, I was framed for a series of murders and thrown in jail. Following the quests, you're supposed to join up with the king of the Forsworn to escape. The first task he gave me was killing another prisoner who was no longer useful. I thought about it for a minute, said "***** that," pulled out my daggers and killed him instead. Stole the key and escaped all by myself, happy that I did the world a favor and didn't sully my own honor.

Alchemy levels so much slower than the other two crafts... Smithing is super fast, and enchanting isn't that much slower (though it takes longer to get something valuable from it).

I decided to take a break from my level 30's Nord guy to roll up a cute Breton mage chicky. Everything seems all fresh and new again. Pure magic is really fun.

Question about armor and magic:

Can I were light armor and just chant it with the magic regen from a robe? Seems weird that robes have 0 armor. I feel slightly nekkid after having heavy armor on for so long. Smiley: eek

I believe so. A friend of mine said the enchants weren't as strong as they were on robes, but then again his enchanting isn't capped yet. Something on the order of -6% cost and 20% regen compared to 12% cost and 75% regen on a robe.

Thanks I figured it was something like that. So far the no armor thing is not to much trouble since fire roasts things dead so fast.

On another note, I tried to make a female High Elf first before settling on the Breton. But I could not for the life of me create one that did not look like an Alienmanchickbug. Elves in this game are really funky looking.

You can indeed. I thought my Battlemage was doomed to a life of crappy magicka regen in his leather armor, but now he's rocking slightly less crappy magicka regen in his enchanted leather armor.

Just need to find a leather helmet that doesn't make him look like a total dork. Now, you're probably wondering how bad it can be for me to mention it this many times. Probably think I'm just a diva.

Put on some Studded Leather Armor (important) and Leather Bracers/Boots. Now, equip a Novice/Apprentice Hood. He looks freakin' badass, right? He looks like he's ready to beat in some dragon face with some spells AND a sword, am I right?

Now equip a Hide/Leather helmet.

Yeah.

Exactly.

Smiley: disappointed

I eventually decided to settle with a Brenton mage myself after trying the various styles of gameplay. Cloth really isn't an issue due to running out of mana before stuff get's to you to do harm. I recommend picking up the Apprentice buff you get south of Solitude. It gets annoying to have to wait after every other fight to let your mana recharge.

I tried going full Mage, since my Destruction and Restoration skills are pretty high, but stuff kept not dying to my magic fast enough. Granted, not having dual cast and stuff like that probably means a lot, but I still feel a double Firebolt should do some kind of damage.

What was/is your Destruction skill at level 15-ish?

This game, man. It's pulling me in. It might just be the best invention since food. And beer.

Why leather? Dragonscale armor is the way to go. It's the strongest light armor in the game as far as I can tell, and it's not particularly hard to get. Also, I don't get the multiple character thing. There is so much to do in this game, it would take hundreds of hours on just one character. More than that just seems crazy to me.

That's kind of the thing though; doing it all on one character just seems kinda meh. I'm skipping Riften and Winterhold almost entirely on this playthrough; I want to make a mage and a thief character, just to see the differences. Also, the perks system limits what you can specialize in; I could do all the Winterhold quests, but won't have enough perks to get much magic. Same with a lot of thief skill set. Yes, I pick locks like a fiend and am just finding the fun insneaking and pickpocketing, but I won't have the perks to do much with them.

I'm at 38 in destruction at level 9. I am currently doing Forbidden Legend and most stuff is dying in a a dual cast fireball, sometimes two if they are a bit heartier of a foe. Bosses on the other hand take a while to chip down. Smiley: tongue

I start with multiple characters until I find the playstyle I enjoy doing. Also if for some reason I start to hate my mage I got a SnB and theif sitting there ready to be picked up.

Yeah it is a bit annoying. I am starting to think it would be better if I don't shoot a big fireball but instead two smaller ones to help get my skill up faster.
