Skyrim, or, How I Ruined My LifeFollow

Good deal. I'll keep my eyes open. Only gear I've seen it on has been guild feet.

I ended up trying a melee heavy armor type for the second iteration after finishing up with the mage/rogue/assassin character. This one I am focusing a little more on Alchemy this time due to the annoying need for 10 million healing potions, and interestingly enough, it looks like what you make DOES affect your skill up rate--a difference compared to the other tradeskills.

But it still doesn't beat bribing the trainer.

Is there any limit on training from npcs? I know in Oblivion it was not possible to go 0->100 through trainers alone.

I think the only limit is that you can only train 5 times whatever the skills per level.

Edit: and it gets more expensive the higher the skill level is.

You can't disenchant set pieces, which are the only ones I've seen so far that have muffle. I'll have to try shopping a little (that's assuming I ever get back to the game, I haven't played it in a week due to dota 2 / skyward sword).

There is a limit on training where the NPC will tell you that you've learned all they can teach you. Limit depends on the NPC's training level.

Here are your fun tips for the day. Spoilery spoilers ahoy, the first can make you overpowered pretty much from the get-go.

The entire thing is detailed here, but here is the meat and bones:
1. The "fortify X" effects are considered part of the restoration tree.
2. If you were to, say, use a "Fortify restoration potion," and then use another, and then another, and then another... the effect and duration would increase each time. If you then drank a "fortify enchanting potion," your increase would be several hundred-thousands of percents increased.
3. You can then enchant your items with more fortify enchanting/smithing/alchemy. The effects will be much higher than the "normal" maximum cap of 29% (or 32% with the falmer hood glitch).
4. You can then make whatever uber items you want through smithing, or with whatever amazing enchant you want through enchanting, or with uber-powerful potion effects and a 999 second duration with alchemy.
5. Best of all, you don't need any perks; just add more fortify restoration potions before-hand. The potion can be made very early on using salt piles and abecean longfin.

Second one, less game-breaking and likely a glitch, but a great boost for a low-level character or a huge cash-cow for higher level characters.
Dawnstar's secret chest:
The topic on it can be found here, the OP was looking for reagents, thought the tree he mentioned had something, and ended up finding an invisible chest outside of Dawnstar containing several hundred gold, some filled Grant Soul Gems, dozens of potions, and a large amount of enchanted gear. After much trial and error, the members of the board are pretty sure that this is the inventory of the traveling Khajhit caravan that goes from city to city; people sold items to them, and then found the items back in the chest.

To find the chest, here are the direction:
To find it, go to Dawnstar. Face the Iron-breaker mine entrance. Now look to the left of the entrance (facing it, not coming out of it.) On the compass, you'd be looking almost due east. There's a triangle of rocks near a short pine tree. The chest is between the mountain and the rock closest to it.

Here's a video of it; the guy is very long-winded. Chest location is around 1:03

I've heard the items do respawn after about a month in-game, and the value and type will level with your character's level.

What item can you disenchant muffle from? I've been trying every one I get.

If you finish the db quest chain you'll have like 8 sets of boots you can disenchant for muffle. Just fully furnish the new sanctuary and look around.

I think thats where I got mine, not sure.

I just finished this last night but haven't really checked out the furnished hideout yet. I'll have to do that in a bit. That being said, I've tried on every worn, ancient, and normal shrouded armors I've come across with no luck yet. It did let me enchant a worn shrouded glove with the backstab on it, but afterwards it didn't show up on the item.

Just did the WantedMaster Criminal achievement. God that was awesome. I escaped from Windhelm all true thief style by one epically placed jump into the river from the main bridge.

I'm pretty sure there is a named...either thief or assassin who has a lesser version of the equipment. I honestly don't remember because I disenchanted his entire set a while back. =X

Not sure if they work cause I didn't try to disenchant them but I found a pair of boots with muffled on it. They look like normal elven boots so I guess that should work. I got them in the room where you find Cicero in the Dawnstar sanctuary.

I came across this list that may be of at least some use to you if you want to grind alchemy (or part of it) with potions. It's organized by the value of the finished potion which correlates to the skill gained from each combine. It's not great for finding specific recipes because it's too large and unwieldy, but if you're looking at your mats wondering what to make with them in order to get the most skill-up bang for your buck, it can be a big help.

I'm at 38 out of 50 acheesements without actually trying for them. Level 47 on my thief and trying to finish restoring the thieves guild, but I'm running out of steam a bit.

That's definitely a nifty list. Thanks!

My bow is doing 748 damage and my daggers like 330 and I've not even gotten to redoing any of my +archery gear which is all like 13%.

I WILL KILL EVERYTHING!

Oh and I need 7 more achievements.

My bow does 219 damage and I've only put a couple perks into Archery. With the triple damage from Sneak attacks, it's really as strong as it needs to be.

Ok, so I hit level 27, and now every time a dragon shows up it's two bloody Frost Dragons with about a million HP, and they kill me in one shot.

This game is now seriously p*ssing me off :(

Shouldn't be a problem if you invest in strong frost resist potions and keep them with you. Enchanting your bow with fire damage wouldn't be a bad idea, either.

In my case, it's a game of "How many times can I restart this game before actually getting past level 20?"

I'm two levels from finding out - unless I start over again, of course.

Guilty there. Played a SnB and deleted him like a durka durka, picked a mage but hated how I had mana problems, picked a rogue but attacking a dragon with a low level bow feels like trying to tear up your driveway with a spoon, back to a SnB character and enjoying it the most. Completed the Molag Bal quest chain and now I got a sweet new mace on my level 10 warrior. Now lets see how well I do with getting this character to a decent level.

My current toon is using:

One-Handed
Archery
Block
Light Armor
Restoration
Sneak

Prioritization is in that order.
