Windhelm is depressing. It's always dark and snowy, it's segregated, and its walls lead to it feeling pocketed.

Shot it in the knee with an arrow. Very sad. Poor sweetroll needs a cart to get around now. If you see a sweetroll sitting on a wee little cart somewhere in Windhelm, be a sport and push it somewhere warm. It would do it itself, but the poor ******* ain't got no arms.

Vive le sweetroll, vive le resistance.

Hehehe, I can't read that sentence in my head without saying 'murrdurr' like a couple of the characters do in the game.

Seriously, Skyrim probably has the biggest cluster@#%^ of dialects I've ever heard in a game. Some of the accents seem Scandinavian, others German and some sound like they just arrived from Brooklyn.

The wizard at Whiterun has the most odd accent ever.

So, I'm somewhere in the North Western corner of the map in a dungeon. It didn't appear to be tagged in any quests, & it's the deepest one I've found so far. I recently dinged 20 & find the first couple levels full of bandits. Outside of one mage, non prove a challenge & I either snipe them with a flaming bow or slaughter them outright with my exquisite dwarven greatsword of fire.

Next couple levels, spiders as I get deeper. No problem there, me & Lydia (when she wasn't stuck behind a trap) have no issues.

Then some draugers. The melee are getting tougher & the mages are now summoning sh*t against me. Heavy uses of potions twice, but no issues. Also, no saves.

Then I sneak up a staircase & a figure rises from a throne. I'm unseen, so I light the @#%^er up with my bow. I sneak back, remaining completely undetected while Lydia goes and dies on his sword. I fire another arrow, get another critical & he's at all of 90%.

Huh.

Switch to GSWD, Yell at him, charging attack. 85%.

Then the @#%^er yells at me, I lose my sword and he proceeds to bum rush me while I scramble to find it. I'm now at 20% health after two hits. Switch to bow & run away. Kite him in a circle and snipe him for 25mins (thank christ he didn't have magic or ranged)while Lydia intermittently gets up and dies some more. Eventually kill him. Loot treasure till I can't walk & look for Lydia.

No where.

Drop some stuff, go look for her. She's dead with an arrow in her chest. She's fully loaded on loot too.

Do I do it ALL over or leave her there dead?
Leave her. :11 (42.3%)
Life without her is pointless, do it all over you lazy *******. :1 (3.8%)
Continue on, leaving her behind you (knowing that you're going to HAVE to come back for her loot):10 (38.5%)
********** furiously to her stripped corpse, THEN do it all over. :4 (15.4%)
Total:26

(Poll is busted, apparently. Immediate after I posted it there were all ready 20 votes.)

Those dragr guys with the disarm shout can be pretty obnoxious. The thing is, your NPC companion can't be killed by mobs. That arrow sticking out of her was yours, ya sloppy-aiming bastid.

It's up to you what you choose to do, but her blood is on your hands >:D

I'd leave her dead. Game's more interesting with lasting negative consequences.

The best part is that you can hear each one of those accents within different members of the same family. Smiley: lol

Blackreach is by far the scariest and most badass dungeon ever.

I did finish the main quest line now, it seemed anti climactic but I think I'm going to finish up the college quests and I'll take a little break and start a new character.

Elder Scroll games have never really been about the main story. I never actually finished Oblivion's. I finished the Mage Guild, Thieves Guild, Fighter's Guild, Dark Brotherhood, and the Arena quest lines. And I got to the very end of the main quest, just never actually did it. I just looked up what happened.

I just didn't care that much. Martin wasn't a strong character. And the fact that the final quest involved keeping him alive, while he was in all cloth, and I was highly leveled? LOL no. He'd die in 2-3 hits. WAY too much effort involved for a quest. I'll admit I didn't see the line ending, though Martin pulling some super powerful ability out of his *** wasn't surprising.

Yeah, it's very confusing.

Some races, like the various elves and the Khajiit, have their own unique accent which everyone from the race shares. It would make sense if someone from Cyrodiil had a different accent than someone from Skyrim, but at this point, I can't tell an Imperial from a Nord because both are switching accents like it's a sport.

I mean, I get that Skyrim is supposed to mimic Northern Europe, but there should be some kind of consistency to the accents. Someone from northern and southern parts of Skyrim should either be using the same accent or different ones. As it is right now, two people from southern Skyrim could be using two different accents - accents identical to the ones found in northern Skyrim.

It's one big pile of what the hell.

Come to Dragonsreach to discush the ongoing hoshtilities, like the rest of the "great warriors"?

Yeah, it is. He sounds like a young and mildly irritable Sean Connery.

By the way, I was curious what the word 'Dovahkiin' got its inspiration from, so I looked up some Nordic words. Dovah in the game means dragon, so I'm guessing 'kiin' means 'kin'. Dragonkin. Dragonborn. Would make sense. But where does 'dovah' come from then? Well, 'duva' means 'dove' in Swedish. Flying thingy, though not exactly a dragon. I don't recall 'dovah' meaning anything in Danish either (never used the word myself, at least), so I turned to Norwegian.

Stumbled across an old Norwegian dictionary where the word 'dova' appeared. It means (or meant) the backside of a horse...

So, yeah, Dragonborn or Descendant of a Horse's ***.

Potato tomato, right?

In my defense I did just get the Cannibal Ring and wanted to test it out a little.

I had hoped to avoid playing today, so I could work (especially since I had to clear out of my apartment for an hour, because my landlord was having an open house). But I've gotten so little work done and am pretty sure I'm not going to get any more productive... so I might just play. >.<

I've been reading Game of Thrones all day instead. And while I'm enjoying it, I really want to kill a dragon.

I finally got my skill level high enough to pick up the Expert tier of Destruction spells. Thanks to Enchanting I can cast Destruction magic for free. I've been abusing the hell out of the Wall spells and loving it every second of it. I also finally found another Blacksmithing Philter so I finished off my Deadric Bow and added 68 Ice and Lighting damage to it with Enchanting. My bow skill is mid 50s and it still one shots pretty much anything but bosses while Sneaking.

Finally, I found my "wife" from the "A Night to Remember" quest. I was not amused and had to kill her to get the ring back.

I just finished the Mage's Guild quest line and I was well pleased with it. It struck me as being about the perfect length and the trip through Labyrinthian was quite fun. I can't help but think I missed out on a tiny bit of the story at the final dungeon boss because I just unleashed the pewpew with my maxed out Daedric Bow and things went splat before they had a chance to rant and rave about how I was such a fool to come down here and now I'm going to die and have my soul harvested to make bread for evil beings of some sort. That stretch through Labyrinthian has to suck for the pure mage types, though...what with the incessant full mana drains and all. I managed to nab some of the glowy spectral weapons though, and while I'm not sure that I'll ever use them I made a point of bringing them out and tucking them into storage just for the cool factor.

Now I have to decide between the thieves guild and the Companions line. My character is grossly overpowered and I'm fine with that. For whatever reason I'm not all that interested in protracted fights...I'm just as happy to sneak around and splatter things, with the sole strategic consideration being to get them all dead before they ever find me. Beyond that I'm quite happy to just explore and see what the game has to offer with the understanding that I can always create a new character and play for the "challenge" any time I want.

It's not that bad, as long as you know they're there. Out of combat magicka regen is pretty darn fast for pure mage types--at least, ones who invest in proper gear LOL.

I actually thought about seeing what I could do with enchants and such just to get an idea for how quickly I could get it to regen. I've seen a couple of pieces with native +100% regen on them and I think the potions I have for enchanting give +130% so it might be worth checking out. Not that I plan to play as a mage style character any time soon...I was just curious.

I have to say that the new quarters you get at the end of the quest are bloody amazing. I haven't tried storing anything in them because frankly, it would be a pain in the **** to move everything out of my storage in Whiterun, even with fast travel.

I just started on the Imperial quest line tonight. I read somewhere that if you don't pick a side by a certain point that you are just defaulted to having sided with the Greybeards. Not sure how that works but I didn't want to miss out on that aspect on this playthrough. There was something kind of neat about being sent to clear out a keep for the Imperials to use as a garrison. I haven't gone back since I cleared it and went back to Solitude to finish the quest but I plan on checking it out tomorrow. I also found a Thalmar embassy with three Thalmar justicars standing outside like they were getting ready to burn the place to the ground. I got jumped by a group of Thalmar justicars earlier on in with this character and found a note on one of them with orders to kill me. These guys didn't attack me on sight so I'll have to go back and see what's going on, but it still surprises me just how much they crammed into this game. Everywhere you go it seems like something is happening.

It's not like catching a cold or having to go in to work. If you want to avoid playing, just don't play. A little willpower goes a long way.
