They're mostly pretty easy to solo pull. And in many cases, you can arrow them to death without them moving an inch.

Welp I knocked out AoTA, was pretty cool I liked it. I kind of want to use Chester's Guy Fawkes mask with the Dark and gold tracers now. I might pump my dex in NG+ just to mess around with some of the new shinies.

I decided to farm the black knights in kiln of the first flame a bit before taking on Gwyn becuase I always wanted to try the Black Knight Great Axe:

http://darksoulswiki.wikispaces.com/Black+Knight+Greataxe

Holy crap this thing is beastmode at +5 and 40 str. Great range and really decent stam usage for the how hard the R1 hits. I'm not sure if I am that thrilled with the R2 leap but I am getting more used to it.

So after that I decided to say ***** it and take the plunge finally to NG+ after 215 hours played, 3 toons to 80SL+ and way to many 20-30SL's.

I still don't feel done with this game yet either. Going to play around in NG + and I still got a clean pure Dex archer + Dagger/Uchi toon I want to mess with.

Durr....I want that. I decided to switch things up from my spear & board style. Buffed up my STR, and am now using a Fire Great Axe to pancake enemies with. So much fun.

I feel like I'm making pretty good progress. As part of the STR-boosting efforts, I upgraded to a tower shield, and used that to bop the right Anor Londo archer knight off of his ledge and progress. After that, things went pretty smoothly. I actually found Ornstein & Smough to be a fairly simple fight. I got a lot of mileage out of using Smough's fat *** to block Ornstein and get him stuck on the opposite side from me. I came within moments of beating them twice solo, but couldn't quite manage against the 2nd form Ornstein (was trying to get his items). So I brought Solaire along, and accidentally had him kill Ornstein first. Decided to just go with it. Smough's 2nd form turned out much easier, even after Solaire bit it hard. 3 tries, total.

Oddly enough, I was much more frustrated with Sif. He killed me a good 4 times with that spinning double slash because the camera freaks out when you're underneath him, and I couldn't see the attack coming. Plus it takes forever to make it back to him.

Just finished the Catacombs and Painted World. Took one go at Tomb of the Giants, fell down a pit I couldn't see, got annoyed, and turned the game off.

I'm not gonna like that place.

Jah, Tomb kinda sucks. What light source are you using? I found that on my pure melee toons with no light spell from oolicile that using the skull lantern was kind of lame. I would slowly discover the enemies then switch back to shield and fight them in the dark. But the multi hit combo attacks of the bone doggies take a lot of stam without high stability and poise. And dodging them with fall to your death around every corner is not so good either.

I found going to Demon Ruins/ Lost Izalith before Tomb of the Giants was better for me. That way I could pick up the sunlight maggot helm from the lost Izalith shortcut. No need to be Chaos servent +2 to open the door if you come in from behind the bridge with the respawning Titanite Demon.

I've done tombs on like 5 toons now and I still get mixed up at certain points in the dark area. Smiley: blush

Well, woops. Don't think I picked up a skull lantern in the Catacombs, IIRC. And since I've already placed the Lordvessel, I guess it'll be a while before I see a chance at Cast Light again. I suppose I'll go through the Demon Ruins, or whatever, then?

Placing the lordvessel shouldn't stop you getting Cast Light from Dusk. Just kill the Hydra in Darkroot Basin, kill the golden golem, then bob's your uncle, you've got cast light.

Edit: I could be missing something, It's 6 am and I've not slept yet.

Well, this is what the wiki says:

Quote:
After the player acquires and places the Lordvessel, Dusk's summon sign will cease to appear. Instead, the player must acquire the Broken Pendant from the crystal golem in the beginning of the Duke's Archives and bring it to the area where Dusk's golem appeared in the Darkroot Basin to access a portal to Oolacile. In the Oolacile Sanctuary Elizabeth will sell Dusk's sorceries in her stead.

I don't have a clue where the Duke's Archives are, but I'm already at the Fire Demon dude in the Demon's Ruins, so I figured I'd just bum around there until I find that Sunlight Maggot thingy.

Plus on my first play through I had the light spell and I missed the epic conclusion of the jolly cooperation story line because I never bothered to hunt for the sunlight maggot.

So! I backtracked to the Demon Ruins and successfully got mahself a sunlight maggot hat. I assume Solaire will be jealous.

The Centipede Demon was the bane of my existence. I died a good 10 times against him before realizing that the fight is much easier if you spend the beginning of it finding a better place to make your stand. He had been continually knocking me into the lava. Once I found a bigger patch of land to fight on, he went down in a single attempt.

Tomb of the Giants was much simpler thereafter, of course. Though those giant dog/gorilla-skeleton things managed to get me a few times along the way. If they pin you into a corner (easy considering how much they charge at you) they'll perpetually attack until your stamina's gone, or you fall off a cliff. Nasty buggers. I also opted to miss a few items along the way - I was tired of running about in the dark, and you couldn't pay me to jump into that pit with the small army of giant skeletons for whatever was in there. I took one look down and said "Nope!"

Gravelord Neato went down on my first try. Found him to be, with the exception of Pinwheel, the easiest boss in the game. Now I can finally ditch my divine weapon...almost got enough strength to one-hand the Dragon King G. Axe (or w/e it's called).

Yeah you need the divine weapon to full kill his adds then he is gravy. Kind of annoying when his aoe kills the last couple hp of a skelly though and it pops up.

Also you did not see Solaire down there by the maggots? Hmm, I wonder if you missed a place you have to summon him. Not a big deal you just get his armors and it's nothing special. Except if you care about completing NPC stories for fun.

I used the shortcut in front of the Firesage Demon boss to enter whatever that zone is....Lost Izalith? Killed the maggot, got the helmet, turned myself right around and left.

I've only used him as a summon once - for O & S. According to the wiki, I think I should still be good to save him...just have to run into him again.

If you've killed the maggot, and he's not gone insane in the shortcut, then you've saved him. I can't play Dark Souls anymore, GFWL thinks both of my Live accounts don't exist, or I'm using the wrong password, but I've used the same password/username combo to log into xbox.com and check that it's right, and it is.

Namco Bandai hopes some of the Dark Souls fans out there are ready to get creative. A design contest launched on the sequel's official Facebook page today, so you can start coming up with your very own original shield design now.

Designs can be submitted through May 13, after which the contest will enter a voting only phase until May 20. The shield with the most fan votes will then enter a final round of judging by the Dark Souls II development team at FromSoftware in Japan. The team will choose six winning shield designs to be included in Dark Souls II, so your work of art could actually end up in the game.

Winners will be announced at San Diego Comic-Con, which takes place July 18-21. Here's Namco Bandai's step-by-step basic info for entering:

How to enter the DARK SOULS II Shield Design Contest:

● Become a fan on the official DARK SOULS II Facebook page at www.facebook.com/darksouls

● Check out the Shield Design Facebook application

● Download the blank shield template

● Create up to three original masterpieces of heraldic design

● Submit your finished designs via Facebook before May 14, 2013

Anyone plan on testing their shield designing might?

LOOK THIS THREAD IS BACK FROM THE DEAD HA ITS FUNNY CUZ OF THE GAME YOU DIE AND ARE UNDEAD AND-

OK anyway, few things for anyone still playing.

- The knights in Anor Londo are retarded easy to kill. Don't lock on, roll/walk through their legs, stab backs of knees.
- The archers are easier with the Wolf Ring
- Never trade for the Fog Ring, so not worth it. Join the Forest Hunter Covenant, then get 3 kills in PvP. It took me a bit but with others doing it you eventually will luck out. Don't forget you can leave a Covenant with no penalty at the priest in the church
- Duke's Archives are past the giant guard on the far left side of the area just after you leave the first bonfire

Love this game, so glad I bought it. Two things. This:

And who here is massively excited for Dark Souls 2? I may actually pre-order it... which is beyond rare for me these days.

started playing this again and got to the first boss on the bridge (go me right?). I was fighting him well, learning his routine and mitigating his damage enough that I think I would win. Then i got knocked off the bridge and he fell with me.

I didnt get to loot him, and didnt get his souls. Is it a big deal at all? Or should i restart the game? I think i could back to him very quickly now that I know what I'm doing, but i'd be a little annoyed if all i got was some demon dust and 500 souls or something.

Not a big deal KT. He drops an axe but you would be too weak to use it for a long time anyway and it's not that special.

Edit:* damn anytime someone bumps this thread I want to play again but I know I played this game to death. I can still navigate this world completely in my mind after a year. Come on DS 2!

Yeah, no biggie.

Got back into playing a few weeks ago as well, because my roommates have been watching Vaatividya and EpicNameBro stuff. I'm now one trophy away from platting it, which all I need to get for that is the DMB miracle.

For the record, Manus is a ***** if you have the same Stam that you started with.
