I just spent every hour I wasn't sleeping this past week on making a server on Minecraft.

192.168.0.9:25565
68.202.248.64 (?) Maybe 68.202.248.64:25565
(need to work on this. Let me know if you can get on. I will leave the server running.)

Multiple worlds, including "flat" land for creative works, Skylands, and Nether are enabled and linked together through warps.

Tons of plugins, including factions, magicspells, chestlock, McMMO and lots of function related plugins. One of the best is a map plugin that allows users to view areas of the map that have been rendered in real time.

After all this work, I'm kind of miffed that no one has seen the server but my wife and stepdaughter. An old friend of mine says he's unable to log in at all, and I'm beginning to worry there is some unforeseen problem that prevents people who aren't on my network from accessing the server.

I host the server from my PC, which in most cases is a bad idea, but my computer is pretty powerful, and with RAM upgrades I should be able to host up to 100 players at once.

The server is finally ready for public access. All I need now is a few people to log in and affirm that they can log in at all.

That's your internal IP address, anyone outside your home network won't be able to access the server that way. Use the website below to get the IP address given to you by your provider, and have him try to login with that one.

192.168.x.x is a private IP address range. No one will be able to log into your server from outside your local network using that IP address. This is why your friend cannot log in.

If you want people to log in, you'll want to give them the public IP address of your server, which is likely the IP address of your modem.

Ah. Thanks. That clears up a lot, but there's still a problem.

I used this guide. Downloaded the Port Checker, and am told that despite following all the steps my port is not open or unreachable. I checked my firewall and found nothing indicating it was being blocked, then turned it off completely to make sure. That didn't work either.

Using the port forward program I was able to allow myself to connect to the server (I could not before) but it seems to not be working somehow externally.

I think it might be my ISP... I am told I cannot login to the modem with "Admin/Admin" because my ISP has it locked. I'm assuming there is some setting within I cannot access that has something to do with it.

You shouldn't have to change any modem settings, only ones on the router. When I set up my server I had to create a protocol that directed all connections trying to access port 25565 to the Minecraft PC only. Use the website below to look up the default login for your router, and steps to setup a port redirect to your server.

Edit: Nevermind, you already did that. PM me your outside IP address so I can test with my client.

I would love to play on the server once you get it up and running :)

I'm considering using Hamachi to run my server, but I feel that might limit the number of people who access the server, as everyone who wants to get on will also have to use Hamachi.

I tried it out and was unable to connect to any existing Hamachi servers.

I'll start messing with it again tomorrow I think, and hopefully get the server up and running at some point. In the mean time, here are some screenshots of what I've made within:

Giant "Tree of Life"

Shany and Erica, my wife and step-daughter who are the only ones that can access the world so far.

Dynamap image with marked landmarks so far.

A town near the spawn.

The spawn/drop ship.
Players begin inside, and use a special ability command instructed by a sign to not fall to their death.

My wife made her favorite (and first) pokémon. in the flatlands world.

Some random Mario sprites in the flatlands.

Nyan Cat ftw. My 6 year old stepdaughter made this with very little help from me.
