Is @#%^ing awesome. The story picks up literally where AS2 ended, and gets off to a quick start. Monterigionni gets attacked, uncle Mario gets killed, the rest of the family heads back to Florence, and Ezio goes to Rome for some good old fashioned revenge. Meanwhile Desmond gets to see some actual gameplay in the form of a platforming section with Lucy..

Rome is massive, easily three times the size of Florence and is just gorgeous. This time around you get to take over parts of the city from the Borgia and renovate the place. Apparently by the end of the game you'll be able to give the entire city a facelift. One nice addition to the gameplay is something called kill streaks. Basically when surrounded by enemies, when you kill one, you can target the next one and immediately kill them next if they're in range. You can make really quick work of large groups if you can time it right.

I played a couple hours of multiplayer and it's a blast. The main mode is called Wanted, basically you get assigned a target and have to track them down and take them out. Meanwhile you have to watch out for the person or persons (you can have up to four pursuers on you at once based on your performance) hunting you. You learn pretty quick that a mixture of subtle movements and aggressive attacks works best. NPCs don't climb, so if you want to blend in you want to stay on the ground. I've found that it can be useful to hang around with NPCs with the same character model as you if you think a pursuer is close. It makes it easier to pick them out of the crowd and either avoid them or take them out before they get you.

So far I'm loving this game. The single player game has all the goodness of AS2 with some nice new gameplay mechanics tossed in, and the multiplayer is just plain fun.

Great to hear! I'll be picking it up on friday myself, loved 2! Would you be able to tell me if there are any trials along the lines of those in AC2? I quite liked those quiet platforming parts and I'd love to do more of them.

My co-worker told me that "The Truth" puzzles are easier in this game, which is disappointing cause those were my favorite part of AC2. Picked it up last night, but I won't start it till I finish Undead Nightmare in RDR.

I'm still working through AC2, and god some of those "Truth" puzzles are ******* hard as hell. I really need to finish it though so I can pick this up.

I've only done two of the Truth puzzles so far, but the feel about the same in terms of difficulty as the early ones from 2. They got harder as you go through them in 2, I expect that it will be the same for Brotherhood. There are several platforming dungeons as well, though I haven't find any yet, so I can't say how they compare.

I never finished AC2. I should probably get on that, and by the time I finish, Brotherhood will be relatively cheap!

Quick tip: if you never finished collecting the feathers in AC2, the DNA section of the menu will tell you exactly how many feathers are remaining in each city. Didn't find out about this till I had 3 left that I couldn't find.

I think that was the only thing I didn't finish in AC2, I loved that game.

AC2 is the only game I have all the achievements for. I played it straight through twice, including gathering the feathers. You get the Auditore family cape for doing it, which makes you instantly notorious no matter your behavior. Kind of a lame reward actually.

OTOH, the Auditore cape in ACB is the exact opposite of what it was in AC2.

I absolutely love this game so far. I'm only in session 7 (I think), though I have all of the Borgia towers down, full Assassin-rank helpers, and Rome 100% upgraded.

I haven't gotten anything done outside of work since Tuesday. Hopefully I can finish the game this weekend, or next week is ****** too. Smiley: cry

Setting your Assassin's guild on a group of Borgia soldiers is hilarious, they literally come out of nowhere and gut them xD

I giggle (seriously) every time I'm on the rooftops running around and I call my assassins to kill an archer/gunman. Just hilarious to see them come up from the edge of the roof and hidden blade the guard in the back and toss him down to the street.

On another note, I haven't found a use for the arrow volley yet. Wastes three of my assassin charges on a buggy arrow volley that may or may not kill all of the guards in the area and leave you without backup for a really long time.

Oh and people looking for the Altaïr gear from AC1/AC2, you can unlock them on the uplay website. Personally I hated the Altaïr gear from AC2 and the AC1 robe just looks goofy on Ezio (and you can't use double hidden blade), but there you go.

You can also grab another multiplayer skin (Hellequin, girl version of the Harlequin) on the uplay site too.

Edit: Oh, and the ultimate armor in this game looks like complete ****. It's awful. Seriously. Wolf pelts, red hood/cloak, some ugly un-roman looking armor, and a skirt instead of the long tunic. Fantastic. Smiley: rolleyes

I'm using the armor that you get after the plate instead, because that armor looks so awful.

The ending was crazy! I kept thinking "Naaaah, that won't happen. He won't kill her..... Wait What's going on? STOP! NO!"

A real Darth Vader moment right there :P

Sequence 8... god ******* damn...
WARNING!! MASSIVE SPOILER: Ezio gets the Apple of Eden back from Rodrigo Borgia and this time goes on a ******* rampage in Rome, annihilating hordes of Borgia soldiers with it. You control him as he does it as well. You can only use the Apple of Eden and no other weapons/tools but holy ****... you don't NEED them with the Apple! Holding down X slows down time and charges up the Apple while draining your HP, releasing it sends out a lightning shockwave that blows out the brains of all enemies around you if charged long enough. Shorter charge brainwashes all Borgia around you to attack other soldiers! Your HP recharges fast when not using the Apple so you can really spam it.
A true "WHAT THE ****!? O_O" moment!

That was unbelievably epic...

To be honest, I'm one of those people that just couldn't get into AC; it felt so repetitive and boring. With all the goods things I've been hearing about Brotherhood, however, I'm giving it another shot. I just purchased AC2 today, so I'm gonna go through that. Afterwards I'm gonna check out Brotherhood :)

AC2 and especially ACB feel like completely different games to AC1, IMO.

I JUST finished AC1 (like, the credits are rolling right now). I have had no time in the past few months, so a game like this, where you can literally play for 10-20 minutes and get something done, was perfect. In general, I really enjoyed it. I didn't like how stealth was literally nowhere in the last bit of the game though--not when it had been an important part before that.

Also, the last kill was pretty predictable. But possibly less so than many other games where that kind of plot twist occurs.

The game system has some infuriating quirks. Like when trying to jump into a roof garden and instead jumping onto the ledge and holding the pillar. Wtf? And you often feel like it's a punishment to actually try to fight using anything but counters. But I hear both these things have been much improved on in AC2.

My biggest pet peeve is where it lets off. I've heard that AC2 starts off right where AC ends. I just wish you got a little more story in this one--like seeing a little more of what happens in the Crusade era and modern one...

Well, since I'm broke, that'll be the only AC I play for a while. I asked for AC2 and ACB for Christmas. I'm really excited to try the multiplayer--I've watched videos and it looks really interesting.

Did anyone buy an edition that got them a special character? The Harlequin looks fun. XD And the officer looks a little OP. I really hope they release them as DLC later on, because otherwise they'll be far less represented in online games, which makes it easier for them to blend in.

[EDIT]

I never really had this problem, since an extended play session was so rare. But I think it really helped if you are into the history of the time. Getting to play as an Assassin in that era (even thought the story is obviously fictional) is just awesome if you are interested in the Crusades.

Plus, it is more of a "calm" game. Even though you are running around, killing people, it is in ways more like tetris or bejeweled than Modern Warfare or Halo. I had a ton of fun looking at the maps (which I didn't even know you could until my fourth assassination) and planning out the kill--taking out the guards, establishing my entry and exit, etc.

The multiplayer skins are all exactly the same in terms of combat ability. You hunt while being hunted, the gameplay is more about strategy than raw power. I have the Harliquen, the Officer and can unlock the Hellequin (female Harlequin) if iwant to. I've found it's better to use one of the more unremarkable skins, you can blend in much easier.

Do all options have a ranged attack as well? Because I only inferred the officer was powerful because I've only seen two different skins use a gun in the videos I've seen.

Yeah, they're all the same. It's not like FPS multiplayer where you get different job types and weapon sets.

It's an ability. Able to set it from level 8 (I think). I got it and the description mentioned it had pretty crummy accuracy, which gets better when you get better tiers of that ability. You'll also get firecrackers and smokebombs when you reach certain levels.

Overall, I think the multiplayer is very, very awesome. I see myself spending a lot of time on there when I finish the story. (That said, dear lord, the story mode has a ton of stuff to do! I'm sure I have over 30 hours in the game and I just barely got Sync at 50%)

The more I hear, the more I'm looking forward to this game. I suck at shooters, so I've been craving a good multi-player PvP game (though it's probably a good thing--I shudder to think what my grades would be if I played MW2 lol).

Another question--are there guards in the multiplayer? Meaning NPCs that will expose you and/or attack?

[EDIT]

I really wish you could play cross-system online games. I totally understand why it will probably never happen, but it would be cool to play with friends who have 360s.

Does anyone play on the PS3? How are the queues for an online match?
