Hello everyone,

It has been some time since I have played this game or posted on the forums; however, I've noticed some familiar names in the posts as of late. Have there been some changes to the game that are bringing people back or have more people (like me) have gotten bored of other MMO's?

For me, the individual glory and personal friendships and rivalries seemed more intense to me here than any other MMO I've seen up to this point. Because of this, I'm strongly considering rejoining the EQOA community. Have there been in changes in the last 16 months that I should know about before recreating my warrior pvp build?

Thanks for reading my post,
Cyric (Original, DH server)

Well lots has changed and lots has not. The game population seems to stand around alot more then before. But there are groups to be had. If you are into dueling you will be happy.

If you have not heard there was all new class balancing which kinda messes all the classes up and made them really unbalanced IMO. But the game is still here and some people are still going strong. So if and when you come back i look forward to seeing you. I have toons on all server's so I am sure I will see you around.

I appreciate your response to my post. You have me curious though...

Could you tell me more about what "class balancing" is and why it is seen as a negative thing in your eyes? This may be too long to respond to in a post so feel free to link a website or other means of helping me catch up if you prefer.

Thanks again,
Cyric

Well Class Balancing was not so much a total negative. As for my Enchanter it added alot of great things. Such as being able to cast Glamours on group members adding to there stats. But in the tank class it seems to me Warriors got shafted on proper taunt mods.

It seems Paladin's are a more sought after tank due to a Ds heal. All classes recieved some kind of New balance that in the Devs eyes seemed good and the way it was intended to be all along for that class. But it is hard to adapt once you are used to it being the way you learned it.

But they did but in a Free Rehab for people after class balancing so you could fix your toons. It rehabs Cm's and Tp's. Which is cool. But they also have scribes in each Fp Dm and MTG I believe that explain all the new changes made.

There is also going to be a new zone opening in a few months Called The Plane of War. There is a post that gives a preview it is labled ZP preview.

But all in all the game is worth returning to and is still very enjoyable at the lower levels.

Well Hope this helps you some.

I know you probably wanted more on Class Balancing but trust me it is very in depth. Best bet is to check the officail EQ website and check the Dev's forum there.

LOL Cyric! NO way man haha, trust me you do not want to come back to this game. Sadly enough because I've thought of it a few times aswell but it's just not the same anymore and wont be.

I say this because I've tried once a while ago and just got over it in a week. I'm sure everyone coming back to it now after a few years of non-playing will think the same.

But there are other games out there, though most have there problems, I've still have yet to found a game that has drawn me in as much as EQOA did, and I never will. That doesn't mean I feel the same anymore though.

Either way I'm not gonna talk to you about games just because I'm sure you know about what's out there already. And I'm not the best person to talk to about games because I'm not much of a player of them anymore...

Either way I just think it's funny that you posted right now here after all this time, like really I do enjoy this to the outmost extent lol...and I'm just gonna put in there..My Warrior was better then your warrior! =P

But overall, it really doesn't matter haha. I don't think we ever really met ingame. And we never probably will, but I'm sure everyone remembers you from the forums from those 2-3 days of arguing hahaha. Anyways peace man, and just wondering are you playing any MMO's lately?

I was playing WoW the last several months off and on. It has some nice features in it but the average age of most players isn't very high and building any type of a reputation or close group of friends is pretty tough. Even upon reaching High Warlord (highest pvp rank) the pvp system relies more on hours played grinding battlegrounds than it does on an individual player's skill. The one-on-one matchups of duels in eqoa was more intense to me and better showed time spent on creation of a build (both gear, tps, and cms).

On a side note; do any of the old duelers still play on DH?

Probably not, though I'm sure there's new ones to take their place.

Yeah I've played WoW, enough already to where I quit it more then once. But I wasn't addicted to it or nothing like eq, it was more like just play for fun deal, hence me only achieving a few 60s (which in wow is much easier then in EQ). My 60 Paladin was built for PVP and was practically undefeated, same with my Shaman and Druid though haha. And my warlock, though built to raid was also great in pvp/dueling but hell, warlocks are incredible in that game.

I found WoW's community, the majority of it, just a bunch of selfish kids that had some real life money to spend on a video game where you can level fast and not lose anything by dying. So basically a bunch of lil bastards. But that's what WoW was made for, and is the majority of gamers nowadays.

Though at the same time I did build up a lot of good relationships while playing in that game and my characters were well known on the servers I played on. So I can't say it was all that bad at all really. I've seen much worse in other MMO's.

The game really was built on hours played though, the better gear, higher rank, more kills, more time spent on your character, the better your character was. Most of the time atleast, which is why you are right, it didn't really on personal skill that much making wow not that fun for me aswell. But I was still much better then the average player I found haha. It's like that with every game though so doesn't surprise me, especially in wow's immature community.

And it's nice to see you are admitting that the account "Bestdueler" is "Cyricblade" now finally hehe.

(Btw that credit goes to me for a while back)

Well its official...
I fired up my old accounts again and logged on. Saw some old friends and some new faces. I have yet to decide what toon I should make or if I should continue to build my old ones. However, it seems to me that warriors (pvp anyway) got the shaft with this new class balancing thing. I'm actually considering making an sk...That's almost sinful to hear coming from me.

I guess the main reason I came back was to see some people I missed playing with. Also, some of my friends from other MMO's have never played this game and I'm bringing them over to try it out. The reason that really made the decision for me was when I got a few emails from gamers I have not heard from in ages talking about how there are new duelers in the game that "cannot be defeated." Talk like that will bring an old champion back to the game fast...

Feel free to let me know if you are one of DH's elite duelers looking for a new ... and old rival.

Ahh man I just lost all the last bit of respect I had for you, you actually went back to that game? Ahhhh so sad...oh well hope you learn your lesson soon enough.

There's no point in being the best at a game no one cares about anymore anyways, not even if you actually care still, just because there's no point hehe, and eithe r way my guy can beat your guy! =P And I don't gotta prove it either...lol

Have fun

I plan on coming back and playing this month. I havent played in about 2 months, nothing compared to 16... But I still enjoy the game, I've been playing it since the day it came out, and have always enjoyed it. I've played EQPC, and FFXI, but I keep coming back to EQOA!

Id point you in Scottevil's direction (probablly one of the best sks on server) except he got scammed out of his account and is in the process of rebuilding, retooling and getting back the items that were takin.

#25 Aug 23 2006 at 9:21 PM Rating: Decent
Cyricrage is the name of my new toon on DH. He's just a baby 25 ogre sk atm. I did some farming with another toon to get him some end game gear so not as much time to xp as I was hoping for.

I am looking to purchase an SM robe and possible other various rare items and spells on DH. Send me a tell in-game if you're looking to move some.

I'm sure you'll see me on if you're looking to chat or duel.
