Ships, gear and quest help (game understanding), please.Follow

Hi, everyone. I play on the Bloodfin server and am a new player post NGE.

I haven't been able to figure out how to go about getting my own ship. I'm not very high level (22 smuggler), but I like to educate myself on aspects of the game that might be of interest to me down the road.

I haven't been able to find any satisfactory guides on step by step procedures on how to build and own your own ships. Is there any end-all be-all guide that explains, in new player/noob terms, what the procedures are, by the numbers, on how to get new ships? What if I want an X-Wing or a YT-1300? Eventually, I'm gonna get a YT-2400 but I understand that's a high level quest on Mustafar down the road so I'm not worried about that right now.

Also, is there any place or link to a complete guide to what smugglers can wear by the levels? Navigating the bazarr seems kinda difficult and time consuming and I'm looking for something more concise.

Any help would be really appreciated. I am an experienced FF XI player, and sometimes the learned behavior of an MMO makes it harder for me to figure out new ones. I've learned a lot about playing SWG in the last week or so, but I'm still lost on some things and I can't find any resource on the step by step of building and owning your own ship. Please help me!

One last question not related to ships or gear. When I press the J button to check my quests, sometimes they're green and sometimes they're yellow. Are these analogous to quest difficulty? What do they mean? Also, what does it mean when my quest log says 'go talk to this guy' and I talk to him and he says 'I've got no work for you right now, come back later.' Is my quest log broken, am I not doing something right or am I gonna have to wait for some updates or character growth to take the next step?

I appreciate any advice anyone can give me.

If you talk to a pilot trainer for wich ever faction you wish to be part of i belive there is an option that reads "I need a ship" or something(rebs=z95 imps=tie freelance=skyck), i have not tried since the start of the NGE because they give out skyks on tansarrii.

Well, I have a scyk because it was given to me on Tansarii. But I eventually want something that is actually in the movies (in addition to a YT-2400 since that's my fave SW ship). I'd also just like to get a decent ship. The scyk can't go up against gunboats and it is going to get to a point where I'll need something meatier if I want to take on bigger bad guys.

I'm prolly gonna do some rebel missions and some Imp missions for the two ships (if they hand them out), but I just want to look into future considerations as I move forward through the game.

the skyk is a starter ship. once you gain enough XP as a pilot you will become certified to fly better ships. As far as i know NPCs dont give you another ship so you'll have to buy the deed from some were. truley though the ship really dose not matter if you have the skill and parts

i tried upgrading my ship it's a starter ship and i have just decied to play some space missons. when i bought some parts i noticed that the stuff i had was probley better then what i bought wtf. but thats ok cause i have my nice fleet of ships to play with and keep me busy for now.

>>truley though the ship really dose not matter if you have the skill and parts<<

Well, of COURSE it doesn't matter in terms of gameplay.

But the reason I bought this game is because I want the STAR WARS experience in an MMO. I want ships and gear and weapons that are unique to that series of films. The syck will work for now, but I want bigger, badder and beter eventually.

Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate your advice, especially where it concerns certification for flying other types of ships as you gain more XP, but telling me 'it doesn't really matter' doesn't answer my request for information on how to get better ships as I get higher in levels. I mean, I wasn't asking for assurance that I could still enjoy the game. I KNOW that. I'm asking what the step by step procedure is for acquiring better ships, building them, owning them and so forth. This isn't clearly outlined in the game's knowledge base and I wanted some kind of resource new/beginning players might access to educate themselves on the procedure.

And also that stuff about consice equipment guides by the profession and explanation of quest log colors and so forth:D

alright well you said you want a 1300 and eventually a 2400, so it seems to me your going to have to choose freelance. You can always get something better by buying it later on.

Right. I will definitely be freelance.

But how do I buy these ships/deeds/blueprints? Are they all quest items? Are some crafted/drawn up by structurers traders?

And just who are these structurers traders? Are they NPCs that I can pay to buy the deeds? Are they PCs I have to hire to do it for me?

Once I have the deed/blueprint, what then? Who do I go to from that point? Shipyard? Is there an NPC I turn the blueprint over to? Do I have to have the cash and raw materials to simply convert the blueprint into a real starship?

What is the procedure? How is this, from start to finish, accomplished? I can't seem to find the resource online. This is the gist of my problem, and as the YT-2400 is the reason I am playing this game (I waited until they added it to begin playing because this was my ambition from the start), I want to know what is entailed in this. Not only the aquisition of the YT-2400 (which I know is a Mustaar quest down the road), but the process by which I would come to own ANY ship. If this resource of information exists in game, I can't find it anywhere. And I can't find it online, either.

It's frustrating because I am generally very good at drudging up information, but I just can't find anything about this anywhere. It seems odd that this information is not encapsulated in some concise location.

Watch, there's some FAQ somewhere that just flat out tells you and I'm just blinding myself to it. I'll feel so stupid if this is the case:P

SOE has always been weird. You buy the deed from any PC who happens to have the ship you want, then you got to the ship NPC in a starport. Dont know why just know how they want it. Your going to need a boat load of creds for the higher ups.
