uh use your survey tool, resources arent always in the same spot or in the same percentage. but if you want to find out even if that resource is on a planet at this time go to this place. very good info about current resources on servers and planets.

Polysteel Copper is a fairly rare resource spawn. The "Ulafaiium" name is a particular spawn of the resource. Unless it happens that this particular spawn of Ulafaiium is the current Polysteel Copper spawn, the only way you'll find that specific subtype of Polysteel Copper is to locate some of it on a vendor somewhere.

That said, if you're just looking for some good Polysteel Copper (for, say, constructing a lightsaber), you MIGHT be able to find a current spawn on a planet. Anytime you travel to a planet, you can activate a survey device and see a directory showing all the current material spawns on that planet for that general type of resource located by the device (i.e., mineral, chemical, gas, solar, wind, flora). Stats on the resource will vary from spawn to spawn -- for example, Ulafaaium will have different Overall Quality and Unit Toughness et.al. from other occurrences of Polysteel Copper. Once you see it's available on a planet you're on, you then have to go prospecting as normal for a good concentration of it, and to sample it to see if it's worth a damn.

Having been a crafter, it is really important to check the forums to see what is spawning if it is a particular deposit that you are looking for. You can waste hours looking in game and come up with nothing. The resources section on this site is the best to look up. Resource spawns have no real pattern with when they show up and when they stop. However, you can guarantee that if a spawn has been going for 20+ days it is about to disappear so forget it.

Websites can be useful, although I found even the best ones tended to lag behind a few days for what was actually spawning. Sites like swgresources and the one here on Allakhazam are user-updated, so the currency of their data was hit-and-miss. If I really wanted a particular resource, I'd simply hop from starport to starport and activate my survey tools. That at least gives you a resource tree showing current spawns for the planet. The time-consuming part was getting out into the field and actually sampling the resource and then finding a decent concentration of it on an area open enough for harvesters.

resources are cyclic too, so several months realtime can pass before a certain resource spawns again. your best bet is to probably buy it if its available anywhere - though chances of that are also fairly remote.

taking a survey tool to each planets starport and seeing what is available is the most likely way you will find some, though be aware it could take up to 4 months before you find any.
