A cool free get-a-way mmoFollow

#1 Jul 14 2006 at 4:04 AM Rating: Decent
Hey i started playing guild wars today. I think its a nice get-a-way from star wars if your your getting bored. If you dont know already its a free mmo nice graphics/scenery much like star wars. All you have to do is buy game download and wala your in. Except for sign up: you use your e-mail adress as username and what ever passward you want. I started playing because i didnt have much time for SWG anymore (though i like helping people out on this forum) i didnt want to pay for a game that i wasnt playing so i am playing this now.

If you ladies and gentlemen decide to play my Characters name is: kesae minoku
I have started my out guild named [AGE] standing for a gathering of ecentrics. Any ways i am a level 3 assasin going on to be assasin/monk being like tk/medic. Thats another thumbs up about the game its like CU/Pre-cu SWG meaning the classes fall in line of the classic ones and you have a base proffesion that you get to choose during character creation. you have to keep the base but you can change the secondary proffesion off and on (really neat). Any ways i will see if i can put the web site up for the game so you can check it out.

clicky/

enjoy

i have heard a lot about guild wars and have a few questions.

1) is it one of those free games that has limited content untill you become a member and pay a monthly fee? (IE. Runescape)

2) do you have to buy discs?

3) what are the computer requirements?

4)does it have lag/bug problems?

thx

1. No, you buy the game (or games, they just came out with an optional expansion) and the play is totally free after that

2. You have to buy the initial game, there may be a way to download it or something from the website. I just bought it from the store.

3. No too sure, check www.guildwars.com, I'm sure they have them there. If you can run SWG then I'm pretty sure you can run GW.

4. I have had a couple hits of lag, but they are infrequent and not game stopping like sometimes happens in SWG where I end up dead before I even know what happened :/.

I've been playing guild wars for the last couple months, just taking my time with it. I really enjoy the game. It is definitely a nice change from SWG.

If you can run SWG you can run Guild Wars. I tried it when I took a break from SWG and it ran beautifully.

If you get Prophecies (normal game) or Factions (expansion) or both it is so much faster than SWG. On Factions I've been playing for about 3 weeks and I'm already lvl 18, there are only 20 lvls so.

Dont forget the lag, most of the lag comes in when you enter a city or leave one because it is setting up everything but with good computer stuff ( RAM and such) it shouldnt take that long.

my firend has it he doesnt care for it that much. the highest lvl is 20 which is kind of easy and yet very weird. once you get there basically all you do is do group quests to get different items to beat people in pvp.

guild wars is free, but after a few weeks you get bored of it, even more so than the nge, i guess you either love it or hate it..

Yeah its a really beautiful game. Compaired to RS its heaven rofl. The scenery is much better but the character images are a 9 out of 10 to star wars. I posted a link to the website on my earlier post.
Now i will try and answer all of your questions:

Yes. you do have to buy disks but its worth it.

For the requirements i say: If you can play swg you can play this hehe.

The game is pretty cool i love pvping w/ lower characters my level its so awsome hehe. Also if you wanted to you could make a video/take screen shots i have taken 2 of me dancing w/ my sister(she also started playing) she cant keep a steady char because she loves the game so much rofl.

not really. the quests are limited and not that deep. in the end you really question it. also the no monthly fee is nice but updates are lack.

current word on guildwars is that guildwars factions is a complete waste of time, its a real cookie cutter type of game but you can at least choose the combinations, personally, although i liked the graphics, which were very good, i found the overall game very boring. in a very repetative way, the fact that there is no monthly fee is perhaps its only saving grace.

thats just the thing. the draw of no monthly fees are very interesting but not enough for me.

I very much enjoy the quests for GW...it's not for everyone and I understand that. To me however, I find doing the legacy quest very NOT deep. Really, how interesting is it to surf around Theed for some stupid plants....
That's not to mention the mundane tasks I was required to do for the rebel theme park, Jabba, or Nym. Don't want to turn this to an NGE bash session, but at least before I was working on the village, and I could switch to many different professions. Those two things would have had me set for a good while longer...then the NGE came. I think my problem is that I've been playing SWG for going on 2 years and there just isn't much content once you hit 90. GW is something different that I enjoy learning and playing. Just my humble opinion.

Me and a friend have our own guild with a cape, it's called back stabing fire gods. (update)

Guild Wars isn't a MMO, per se. Everything in Guild Wars is instanced and generally is shifted from a central server to the 'group leader's' computer. It's basically a much more 'dumbed down' MMO, with more in common with a super-IRC system.

This is why they can get away with no monthly charges.

Ya played Guild wars sense release and it is far more boring than SWG post-nge IMO.

Sad part is I hate SWG post-nge but at least there's actually more to do in game than guild wars. The lvl 20 cap and all the instances is what I think hurts the game in the long run. This is pry the only game I rank below SWG and I would say runescape is alot better than GW it has way more things to do than this game does

Yeah i agree it is a HUGE step down from SWG, but hey its something right? I will list the things i dont like:

1 Max level is 20
2 not many LEVEl based quest
3 people cant meet up in eploration zones
4 PvP characters are no point scince you can PvP anyways with a RP character

and heres my answers to those:

1 Mex level should be around 50 or 60, right?
2 More level scpecified quest because a level 20 has a hard time with a level six quest lol, i have tried

3 Meeting up in exploration zones and servers more like SWG,EQ 1 & 2, and WoW
4 Get rid of PvP characters or raise levels and start them out at level 20, but dont give them UBER armor

other than those above the games fine, and beleive me when i say this SWG is better /crylikealittle baby :( whaaah hehe
