I'm stuck on this quest. I come close to dropping Lord Vartonis, but he always gets me first. I've tried not using my saber and using a cryorifle, not luck. I've got ALL my buffs on, Booster Blue, Flameout, etc... Then i have to wait an hour just so i can fail again, it's getting really old.
Can anyone give me some hints on how to beat this quest please???

Use a range weapon, and your jedi snares (chokes/shocks & etc.) and heals (rarely). And keep Lord Vartonis at range, do not let him get close to you, use the snares for this.
Also are you clicking the Gem in center of room, to get it's buff:
The crystal gives you the following buff:
# Health +90,000
# Damage Bonus +2,000
# Defense Bonus +400
# Healing Efficiency +200
# Relative Level +15 (essentially upgrading a CL90 player to CL105, though your level doesn't visually change)

But now the problem that at hand is that Lord Vartonis now has a Blaster. A very powerful one at that. Ive been stuck on that quest for 2 weeks. I cant get him below 1/2 way when I die with full buffs. We are just going to have to wait it looks like for SOE to realize they messed up and cut some of his health off.
My friend had said he got through it by exposing a glitch in it all. Something about running back through a door way and he stops following you and you can open fire on him from a distance? Anyone else that can help with this?
I guess they "fixed" the bug. So, now it's freakin IMPOSSIBLE to get through this quest, I've tried everything. I've got as far as beating him but then he sort of "time's out" and more thugs arrive to hassle me down to almost nothing and then he returns with 2/3 of his health. WTF?!? I've been at this for months now and am beginning to think it's a sick joke.
try getting a group together
You can't group it. It's solo only.

I completed this quest at CL 82 with very few buffs just heal when you get the chance. and keep shooting and something I heard is if you stay at the right range he will not be able to hit you and he wont pull out the blaster. think it is 10m.
