Now this is not a WoW vs. GW debate.

In fact, let's say WoW > GW right off the bat.

What I want to know is purchasing the game for PVP intentions really worth it? I ask here because I trust in many of your opinions on PVP, especially compared to this game. I realize that GW is more like an MMO-lite, with it's instanced world and everything, but I am just looking for an alternative outlet for my pvp needs, like on Tuesday maintenance or something.

Yes, absolutely. Guild Wars is an excellent PvP game with an insane amount of depth, and there are no outside factors like gear influencing fights for the most part. It is easily one of the best games I have ever played, and in a lot of ways I like it more than WoW, though yeah, very different styles.

I haven't been on lately for various reasons (mostly because of system lag making GvG really painful), but I recommend you check it out if you like skilled PvP. I'd avoid the PvE entirely except for the short-term skill unlocking grind.

Guild Wars is hit or mess, heavily.

Personally, I fell ripped off for buying Diablo 2 again.

I don't recall hearing that Diablo II had team PvP as competitive as any FPS or RTS, but I suppose I didn't play it that long. I'd agree with the hit or miss part though, as long as you don't judge it as a "miss" because of the completely optional PvE part of the game.

I'm not a huge fan, but it is a beautiful game. It has enough goodies (levels and skills, many types of proper PvP, good guild system and at least a good 50-100 hours of PvE gameplay, solo at early levels and grouped at higher levels).

Comparing it to D2 was a terrible cliche that truly doesn't apply.

Q F T. I only did the trial version though so I didn't spend a dime.

GW is the Diablo 3, an online RPG that repeats itself over and over. They just call it an MMO because instead of a huge chatroom with different games to join, its a town with shops.
