The reason I made that post is because on every board I go I have to read this "whine" (basically it could be defined as whine, no?).
Furthermore I have to tell you that I started out as a SWG player back in the old days. I belonged to the first ones who got their copy of SWG in Europe. Though, when World of Warcraft came out I switched to that.
Why? I like the Star Wars universe but back in those days I also played a lot of Warcraft III(rts) and most of my friends started playing WoW so the choice wasn't hard.
Now, after 2,5 years of WoW and five level 60 characters (of which 2 of them were top epic equipped), I quit WoW. I might get back at it when the expansion comes out.
Everyone thinks WoW is such a great game.. don't get me wrong, it is but to a certain degree. When the battlegrounds were introduced, the outdoor PVP totally dissappeared. And being such a hardcore player for 2 long years I had seen it all (every spot on the map, every instance, etc.).
So my daily routine became either afk'ing most of the day and in the evenings doing a 40 man instance with my guild. And I can tell you, that routine will bore the crap out of you after several months.
Once you reach level 60 in WoW, you kinda finished the game.
So this is where SWG helps me out. I decided to go back to SWG untill the Burning Crusade expansion comes out for WoW. Why? Just to breath in that Star Wars "air". So many RPG quests which hopefully keep me busy long enough!
I haven't played SWG that much but the new CU I do like, since it makes things a lot easier as it was. I remember the only thing I managed to do were delivery quests for money (back in the old days). It wasn't easy to find out what to do.
They made it a lot easier for the casual gamers. I DO FEEL however what you guys are on about. You were used to a system which changed completely (and like you said, some like it and some don't).
My point is: for the people who haven't played SWG before (or only tried it out), the new CU is all they know. They basically don't know any better. They don't know how it used to be. And trust me: if you don't know how it WAS then you sure as hell aren't disappointed with the way it is now.
