WTF are you guys still doing here?Follow

The reason I made that post is because on every board I go I have to read this "whine" (basically it could be defined as whine, no?).

Furthermore I have to tell you that I started out as a SWG player back in the old days. I belonged to the first ones who got their copy of SWG in Europe. Though, when World of Warcraft came out I switched to that.
Why? I like the Star Wars universe but back in those days I also played a lot of Warcraft III(rts) and most of my friends started playing WoW so the choice wasn't hard.

Now, after 2,5 years of WoW and five level 60 characters (of which 2 of them were top epic equipped), I quit WoW. I might get back at it when the expansion comes out.
Everyone thinks WoW is such a great game.. don't get me wrong, it is but to a certain degree. When the battlegrounds were introduced, the outdoor PVP totally dissappeared. And being such a hardcore player for 2 long years I had seen it all (every spot on the map, every instance, etc.).
So my daily routine became either afk'ing most of the day and in the evenings doing a 40 man instance with my guild. And I can tell you, that routine will bore the crap out of you after several months.
Once you reach level 60 in WoW, you kinda finished the game.

So this is where SWG helps me out. I decided to go back to SWG untill the Burning Crusade expansion comes out for WoW. Why? Just to breath in that Star Wars "air". So many RPG quests which hopefully keep me busy long enough!
I haven't played SWG that much but the new CU I do like, since it makes things a lot easier as it was. I remember the only thing I managed to do were delivery quests for money (back in the old days). It wasn't easy to find out what to do.

They made it a lot easier for the casual gamers. I DO FEEL however what you guys are on about. You were used to a system which changed completely (and like you said, some like it and some don't).

My point is: for the people who haven't played SWG before (or only tried it out), the new CU is all they know. They basically don't know any better. They don't know how it used to be. And trust me: if you don't know how it WAS then you sure as hell aren't disappointed with the way it is now.

its funny in a way, but even though i had 4 accounts, i never really considered myself to be a hardcore player, perhaps it was the fact that i didnt really have that much interest in combat, but then the game now is so narrow of focus, that if its not about combat then it doesnt matter.

whether new players, such few as there are, will accept the game as is, is debateable, 8 months on the game is still in a state of decline, despite numerous pushes on the part of SOE to improve the game. its unclear if this state of decline will be affected by the 'new' talent system, even that is probably going to take more than 6 months for them to completely introduce to the game.

so far, i have yet to hear of any real improvements.

you'll find far more negative comments about the game on the official forums than you will here, but then, they are the paying customers, and they have the right to demand value for money at the very least.

I agree with your main point for sure! I can never expect someone who just started playing with the NGE to all of a sudden have the same burning hatred for the changes as we did. Hell, I bet most NGE players didn't even know they changed the system just a little while ago.

However, where I must disagree with you is with how you were/are treating this game. From your post, it seems like this was a relief game you called in just because you were tired with WoW. For myself and many others, SWG was our main MMO. I never played a different MMO as much as I had played SWG until I left SWG during the CU period. I'd rather see SWG return to the days when people would pick up SWG for the love of the game instead of seeking out a new MMO to curb their WoW craving.

i played the game since close to the begining, i played for a very long time. I quit when the combat upgrade came out because i hated it. i thought lvl caps on weapons were the worst. then i decided to go back when the NGE came out. and i was shocked... i hated it. i love star wars but i loved the original SWG even more. so many "classes" that you could mix, cut down to 9. Now players who just started the game could be jedi? i hated it. people complained that it wasnt star warsy enough until the NGE came out, but that made it less star warsy. In the original you had to work hard to become a jedi, just like the movies. I mourne SWG but i found happiness in FFXI. after what SOE did i will never go back unless some other company takes ahold of it and it goes back to the original, not classic servers. and as for ppl who say f**k off to us, have fun wasting your money. the great SWG is dead. ps: take a look at mmorpg.com if you wanna remember the old SWG. lots of older players there.

Curent SWG is more like EQ2 . Yes, fast paced and simplified gameplay. I am a new player to SWG and i do play in pre NGE before with my friend's account and decided to get my own account now as i have the station access.

IMO, all games have its own fun and player based.. its no point after quitting the game due to some major overhual and start flaming the game / community.. its a childish act. Just leave us alone and our fun in SWG.

funny but the people who are enjoying the game seem to be a bit of a rarity, especially in game, if you read the official forums you'll see that said a lot too ;)

whining, hmm. since people who 'say' they like the game are whining as much as the ones who dont, then i find it hard to see the point exactly ?

thinking only your way = good, well of course, didnt you know, i am a goddess among lowly mortals, im always right, even when im wrong.. okay :D
