i am a life time star wars fan. i tryed to get star wars galaxies to work on my top of the line system with 2 gigs or ram. all i experenced was constant problems. i gave the game a break for about a year and now am agian intrested in playing scence my friend is playing also. i have heard many many complaints and split opinions on the CU and the NGE. i now need some clarifacation. should or shouldnt i? is the game still a very interesting and expansive MMORPG? does it take skill like donkey kong or persistence like Runescape? i love every thing about starwars and galaxies seems or used to seem like a good way to expand on that. belive me i know more about galaxies than some of its members. so please give you imput.

grab the trial, that shoudl give you an idea of whether or not youll like the combat and the proff system.
remember that if you dont like it in FPS mode, you can play in mouse pointer mode.

i cant see you having problems if you have 2 gigs ram, iw as playing it on my friends comp, it had one, default settings except i disabled shaders, and it ran pretty smooth

My biggest gripe is the linearization of the game, which is mostly evident in the consolidation of the complex skill system into a group of 9 professions with a linear path of progression. Also, two of the professions (CH and BE) were completely removed.

Another problem that would seem to apply to long-time Star Wars fanatics is the complete disregard of canon to the series.

But as MoW suggested, try to get the demo working. It is really a personal thing.

The game is still fairly interesting but since the Cu and NGE it's all been to easy. You used to have had to do a ton of things just to become a jedi and now all you have to do is click on it.I remember working hard in Pre-CU/NGE and now all the noobs think they own when they hit lvl 90. They keep critising about how much the game sux and how cool Pre NGE was AND THEY DONT KNOW A THING ABOUT IT!

The biggest gripe that I have with the game (aside from the dumbing-down of the profession system) is that the whole game is now level-based. Before the Combat Upgrade, EVERY planet was a virtual playground. Now, if you're a few levels too low or high for a given planet or site (such as the squill cave), you might as well not even go there. The devs have implemented an artificial level-based damage-multiplier system, in which you are given multipliers that make it much easier or much harder to kill your target. If you're, say, 20 level higher than what you're fighting, you might as well be fighting in hawtpants with a CDEF rifle; it's an easy four-shot (or less) kill with you taking virtually no damage, no matter what. Conversely, if you're ten or more levels lower than your target, it's purple-conn instant death to you.

I WANT MY PLANETS BACK!
