I played SWG shortly after it was introduced. What a fabulous game! The way the game has been systematically destroyed is amazing. The infamous CU was the beginning of the end. I guess the thing that annoyed me the most was the CSR attitude "We don't have time for you, I'll give you an answer that has nothing to do with your problem" and that was in place from the getgo. To tell a customer that they were only allowed to report one issue at a time and provide no feedback on bug reporting clearly states to me that they really don't care about those that pay them. I can remember going to Coronet prior to a hunting venture and waiting around for a buff. This wasn't wasted time to me (it probably was to some), but a time to meet friends and enjoy the chat. Decay made the game go around - crafting was a big portion of the game. I quit for a few months and came back shortly just to see if I could still get some enjoyment out of it. Unbelievable, no players...only lag, ghost towns and boredom. When I cancelled my subscription, but still had time left on the game, I went to their forum to vent my disappointment but couldn't post since I had no active subscription. Only another way of saying that they don't care.
Well, after looking around and giving Wow a brief try (a good game and responsibly run...just didn't care for the huge emphasis on large group runs to get any decent loot...something most would like I think), I guess I'll try Eve OnLine - it seems that they do care and have a wide variety of activities. I'll miss those early SWG days though. That was one fine game, even the onscreen waypoint monitor didn't continually disappear.
