there is a lot of content in the end game of wow, at 60 thats where you are able to join in the high end quests etc, not to mention the pvp element thats pretty big in wow, and the high end raids.
probably the person who told you there wasnt, was a bit of a billy no mates, because you have to be in a group/guild etc, to really get the benefits of the game, its not really for people who solo, which personally, i think is one of its strongest features.

WoW's endgame is not very good. SWG's endgame is non-existant. A problem SWG has had from its onset is a true lack of good content. It was all player-driven, which, to an extent, was good.
#29 Jun 22 2006 at 12:04 AM Rating: Decent
This is what I'm saying. SWG has no content, infact it's missing roughly 133 planents out of the 132(1),Alderaan is destroyed, or we would have 133 planets and only 10 is in game.now they probably couldn't add all the planets in SWG, but they are missing alot of the KEY ones missing..

Nar Shadaa
Kessel
Telos
Hoth
Bespin
Dagobah
Coruscant (even though it would be laggy as hell)
Mon Calamari (yes that is the name of their homeworld)
Geonosis
Kamino
Korriban
Sullust
Bestine
Kuat just to name several

Look at the races. When you was a wookie or a zabark you had something, now all you are is a walking carpet or you got horns sticking out of your head.
Star Wars isn't just about aliens, it's also about the droids, why can't we play droids, oh wait it's not "Iconic" or "Star Warsy". IDK about you But i hate shadowing "Iconic" or "Star Warsy" heroes. Some people do, I don't. That's the reason why they stripped away the other jobs, cause they didn't shadow nobody.

Space plays a big part in the star wars universe as well. I would like for somebody to point me on the galaxy map that had the remains of Alderaan after the Death Star Destoryed it. Show me a Fleet of Rebel Alliance and Imperial Galactic Navy. Not a ISD or a Corvette representing them. Show my Victory Class Star Destoryers or Kuat Drive Yard's Nebulon-B Frigate.

The developers at SOE failed to realize how big Star Wars is. It's not no measly 10 planets or 6 races with 9 pathetic jobs. When they were making it, they probably had a idea on where to go. They failed to reach that goal, and will continue to fail, cause they don't know anything about the name of star wars.

Like most people, all they know about star wars is what they seen in the movies.
Most never picked up a book, read the comics, played the RPG. Some probably never played a SW Video game, until this came out, it's not even worth to be called a MMORPG.

If the devs want a player base, which they won't get. They need to really sit down and look at the Genre of Star Wars big time. Jedi in the SWG is pathetic a Padawn in SW would do circles to a lvl 90 Jedi in SWG. Where in the hell is Force jump, pull, push. Those are like Universal to all Jedi, and the dorks didn't even add that.

SWG is missing ALOT OF CONTENT. I stress ALOT.
Luckly SOE hasn't stained the name of Star Wars as a whole.
When they decided to make this they went into it blindly. Not knowing Star Wars. All they see was Star Wars, that'll be a good MMO, lets do it.

3 years l8ter, still small in size. Is it going to take them another year before they realize how small this game is, and how big Star Wars is.

I'm not even touching the NGE cause if i did, tards would get upset and think the NGE is the next best thing since sliced bread.

Some people don't want to face the facts, that SOE screwed up, not just once but several times over and over. They wanted to copy WOW, cause they wanted to jump on the band wagon. That didn't turn out like they planned.

wholly agree with MPDO on that, i wish they'd spent more time adding all those things and creating more content, improving the GCW element of the game, rather than messing around with the game mechanics....

that and many other suggestions/ideas were posted on the official boards, even pre-cu. and still they are ignoring everyone, how typical of SOE.

your complaing about planets?
we have 11 planets plus kashyyyk, we dont need anymore, not really. what we do need is more stuff on the planets that era there.

we dont need 100 planets, and if we did have that many, they would all be like kashyyyk, only likely smaller.

im not saying they should add them all, but there should be more. but mainly its the lack of content, and a GCW that seems to be more of an afterthought rather than a central pivot of the game. at least, thats how i see it.

who knows how much they could have done if they hadnt become sidetracked ?

I'm not complaining about planets. It's the lack of content. But if your going to make a MMO off of a Name, like Star Wars/Star Trek/Star Gate. You better deliever.

Look at it like this. Star Wars - Star Trek - Star Gate, is something we probably watched sometime in our life time. I like all 3. Lets say Star Trek got released today, somebody logs in and makes a toon. Besides the ship and the holodeck and aliens, what's one of the main things that stands out on the ship.

The computer. What if they didn't add that. What if they didn't add the Holodeck. What if they didn't even add the ship. Wouldn't you as a Star trek fan be upset. You wanted to find out information you ask the computer, and you get nothing besides people looking at you strange.

Look at Star gate. What if they didn't even add the star gate in the game. Why call it star gate when on of the main theme's behind the game is the star gate.

Like star wars. Like i said it has rougly 133 planets. Not mentioning the ones that's in video games, books and what not.

Xbox 360 and PS3 is coming out with Marvel and DC game. It's not going to be everything that deals with the essence of something. For example. The Incredible Hulk, has certain immunities, and the more mad he gets the stronger he gets. Are they going to take that into consideration, probably not.

The deal is when you go to develop something, that has a brand name like I said before. You need to look at it as a whole. Okay Star trek has this and this. What can we add or later one add to capture the feel for it.

Star Wars is the same way. They didn't capture Star Wars. They had a grasp of it when it first came out and it was developing. Now look at. It's not even worthy being called Star Wars.

There's not one thing in here that has the essence of what Star Wars is. There's no GCW (one of the main things during this ear.) Jedi walk around like it's no skin off of their back. (when's their's only 5 depending on how you look at it.)

Like I said before they need to scrap the whole SWG thing. Pick up a hard copy of a Wizard of the Coast D20 Star Wars. Just read in what it has, and what SOE doesn't want to add.

LA really needs to strip away the license from SOE, and give it to a better developer that likes star wars, and knows something of it.

i agree there, though the game was lucky to have as many planets as it did.
they need to either put more content on existing planets(except musty and kashyyyk) or give us more planets like kashyyyk

i have never heard truer words MPDO, SWG used to be a great game, even though i started playing a week after the CU i had read about the game pre-Cu and i was amazed i could just imagine myself playing having soo much fun, then i got it in july and i loved it, i loved the way when you saw a jedi you were like WOW! now there is no wow, i have seen so many nge jedi run around i cant even get the images out of my head, jedi were so powerful they took down 100's of baz nitches in a few minutes now jedi struggle to defeat the weakest creatures because their so weak now. Before i quit i NEVER wore my jedi robes i was so ashamed to wear them and the lightsabers can hardly be called weapons anymore the old republic saber sucks! that little gun we got in publish 27 does more damage, i wonder if i will ever be able to enjoy hunting rancors in groups on dath or those spiders on yavin 4, i wonder if we will ever be able to enjoy the game that was once Star Wars Galaxies.

P.S: ill give the game the rest of this year

so do you see where I'm coming from. Honestly how upset would you be, if Star Trek turned out to be a flop, or Star Gate. I know I would be.

Now if they did all all the planets, we would have to much content, to contend with, and I really doubt anybody would be bored. The game needs more fore thought and focus. I mean you can't just pick up a name and try to make a MMO out of it w/o doing some research.

But, I'm glad SOE is digging their own graves. They'll never admit or realize how bad they messed up, by turning a blind eye towards their customers. SOE refuses to fix the old and new bugs in the game. SOE refuses to listen to the beta testers, since player base judgement is better, then having somebody go, this is what we think is fun, so lets force feed it down the mouths of our customers.

THE KEY COMPONENT OF A GOOD MMO IS PLAYERS. Company's that listen to the players during beta tests and live in-game, can or will weild better results. You do what SOE did, and you see what happens.

Most players during beta are honest and truthful, they'll tell you what's messed up and what's not. Same thing for live game. If a bug is reported, it should be fixed, not 3 years down the road. They way the handling this is all wrong. They should stop with the pubs. Find the major bugs, fix them, beta the pub about to come out, see what bugs is in that, fix that then release the pub.

NOT, release the pub, then see what bugs it has, then turn around and give the player a in-game item to make him/her forget the problem. That's stupidity on the dev side. How would you like it if somebody wrecked your car and gave you a lolipop to make you forget what happened.

i disagree, if we had all the planets, they would probably be moe barren then the ones we already have.
and who didnt expect this game to flop?

i guess we have to take a walk in soe's shoes, they realize they messed up but they cant just go back so fast because the people who didnt play pre-nge, cu, will be outraged, but i think thats what is going on in their minds but for me i could care less if all the noobs were pissed if they think about it they would be able to get most of their player base back if they did but the problem is the more they try to fix their mistake they just end up making it worse.
#42 Jun 26 2006 at 5:27 PM Rating: Decent
Yeah, the game is coming another Neocron.

I hate to tell you this. SOE pats themseleves on the back, congratulating each other for a super job. They'll never admit they did mess up.

We don't have to walk in SOE shoes, if we did, most of us would probably quit SOE to find more promising jobs.

Yeah If we did have all the planets it would be more barren, then what it is.

Ok sorry if some of this information or complaints has already been stated, but I only read half of this topic so here it goes:

I started playing SWG a while after CU had already come out, so I can't say what pre-CU was like, however from what I've read about it, it sounded pretty fun.

I was blown away by this game, I think it had plenty of plantes for the time being, you could completely individually costumize your character, and space was awesome. I was addicted from the moment I started playing. Lag sucked, but I was willing to move past that.

The game now is quite possibly the most stripped down version of something that used to be good that I have ever seen in my life. I read a really good article somewhere from this guy who never played SWG but observed everything that was going on. He said that SOE screwed up in how they focused all of their attention on how to bring more people to the game rather then satisfy their current subscribers first. Branching out to get more people is fine, but LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTUALLY SUPPORTING THE GAME FIRST AND SATISFY THEIR NEEDS! What SOE did is a fine example of just plain ole crappy business.

Why did SOE feel like they needed to make jedi easy? They said they wanted the game more "Star-Warsy." EARTH TO SOE: in the "real" star wars universe that you are trying to mimic, BECOMING A JEDI IS NOT EASY! And if you want to be a freaking jedi, go play JEDI KNIGHT. A perfectly good game where you can become a jedi just by booting up the game and can slash away with your saber all you want. Heck you can even choose a saber color and use force powers. Leave SWG for the people who actually want to live in the Star Wars universe and in the time zone where jedi are extremely rare. And if you want to become a jedi it should be a status symbol, something that someone worked very, very hard for. Something that no noob can just install the game and say "yay I'm a jedi now."

Now for the professions...they've been stripped down more then a chicken at McDonalds, enough said.

I remember after reading all about NGE, I was like "what the hay, I'll give it a shot just to see what this is all about." So I re-installed, fired up. I was tempted to exit right when I saw the lame over the shoulder angle. So you think your Resident Evil 4 now, eh SOE? I then proceeded to exit faster then a vet can say "SWG sucks" when I saw the 9 "iconic" professions.

I now play WoW, which honesty, is way worse then SWG when I played it (post-CU).

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that someone else will get the liscense. I don't care if its Bioware or what, just ANYBODY but SOE. Hell, Nintendo can develop it for all I care, just get it away from SOE, they have butchered it quite enough thank you.

couldance, you said that if you ever met Smedly, you couldn't resist to kick him where it hurts. I wouldn't even think twice. I wish I could have a solo session with each SOE dev to personally kick his a$$.

Bottom Line: Bascially, speaking in metaphoric terms, A prized goat (Star wars) was covered in blood and then tossed into a tank full of Great Whites that haven't eaten in weeks (SOE). Use your imagination. The game was slaughtered

Well there's my 2 cents.

On a side not, I wonder who came up with the NGE? I'm guessing it was one of the devs toddlers, could be mistaken though.

November 23rd = D-day for SWG. Just cause that's my birthday and it's what I'm wishing for =)
