#1 May 17 2006 at 12:35 AM Rating: Decent
So i was just wondering, does anyone else miss the tree system in this game? I found that it was so great how this part of the game was diffrent from every other cookie-cutter MMO out there.

Thanks for your input :-)

its still differant from ither games, but thats not necsasarily good in this case.

i miss the skills system, but in reality, its almost immpossilbe to balance, and with peoples non stop whining about unfair combos and crap, its no wonder they scrapd it.

for the record, i was smuggler 0/0/4/4(was master),CH 0/0/3/2, BH 0/4/4/4 or something along those lines

the skill tree system wasnt really unbalanced, there was no set template you could use that made you the best, unless of course, you were a jedi :D
but even a full templated jedi could be killed by a BH who knew what he was doing. and if nothing else, the ability to change skills or perhaps take up an entirely new career, was something that appealed to a great many people, people who, strangely enough, left when the nge came into being.

i think the main problem, was that some people spent a lot of time finding the right template, specifically to beat jedi's, and as everyone knows, the pre-nge jedi's certainly liked a lot of whine with their cheese :D

it was unbalenced imo tho, unless you took doc or combat medic you couldnt pvp, and people would always make new templates and others would call nerf.
by hard to balance tho i really meant unlike other games, where you know what everyones gonna have, with old swg theres so many combos, you cant tell which ones are gonna be overpowerd

I started Playing SWG when publish nine the imperial crackdown went into effect and youhad monthly publishes with story content, back then the game was great, now its just a cookie cutter game in my opinion and i left, the first combat upgrade was difrent and fixed alot of things, then when obiwan went live we get the nge which killed the game, crafters got screwed, teras kasi was removed entirely, and teras kasi could kill jedi as well as fencer and BH could. If there was a roll back id come back to the game. I loved my teras kasi master and my armor smith. entertainers still get screwed over, and smugglers have just recently gotten some attention, I shall stick with FF XI for the time being.

I even iked the force senstive village when it went live, i could roleplay becoming a jedi that way and i even had some FS skills, butalas when nge came out i was only a lvl 68 jedi , and nge jedi suck. all the "ICONIC PROFESSIONS" as SOE like to call them are all almost identicle, they all can heal themselves and all have equal abilities. not worth my 15 bucks a month, the old system was so much fun and faster, you could mix and match what ever you choose, and CH being removed was a big mistake.

The tree system is coming back soon. If you read far enough in the publish reports you will see a timetable for these changes. It's funny how lots of people were complaining when we had the trees, then they listened to the people and we got the CU, then people complained about the CU, so now we have the NGE, now people complain and we are going back to the tree. It seems we get what we want from SOE. We can only relly blame ourselves for making the game what it is.

The tree system wont be the same though... if you read the weekly reports they say that a new system will be brought in involving purchasing skills using points you earn with every level. im not sure whether you can purchase skills from other professions but it will allow you to be different from others in your proffesion. Im sorry but i dont know much beyond that.
