Yup, the classic. The first one that came out on NES way back in the day. My first video game I've ever owned.(and I've been hooked ever since!) I still can hum the music for most of the levels! Smiley: blush

When I was a kid, I can remember people talking about getting 9,999,999 points (or whatever the cap was, I pretty sure that was the highest) But as hard as I try, I could only get up to about 4 million.

What was the tactic used to get so many damn points? Anyone ever do it?Smiley: clown

Probably so, the turtle on the steps but I can't remember if you had to do this on a certain world or not. It's been soooo long but I'm positive you can get it that way, even if the timer runs out you're gonna get 99 lives just let it run out, die, come back and repeat.

I soooo forgot about that! It starts out with points right, and they double, double, double and eventually you hear that little chime.

1up

Yea, it's like 100,200,400,800,1000, 1up?
Something like that, and I'm almost positive you're still getting points as you're getting 1ups.

It can be done in world... 3-1 if I'm not mistaken... but if you're really good you can get it almost anywhere.

The thing about the 99 lives was, if you got over 99 you would have a GAME OVER upon first death..

ahh, my sweet nostalgic youth.. where have you gone?

I'm at work and I can't view the video, but I'm almost certain I watched it a year ago, I'm assuming it's the Mario 3 vid where he does like every single move flawlessly and it's just beyond amazing....gonna watch it when I get home, my jaw dropped the first time lol!

Yea, where he gets a ton of one ups bouncing off bullet bills and cannon balls on the ships. A co-worker showed me that for the first time, it was damn impressive.

My jaw literally dropped for the entire duration of that video.

If it's genuine, that kid is some kind of god. Or addict. I'm not sure which.

I think you would bounce on a shell infinite times.. that's the only way I've seen someone get so many points. Sorry if that's already been posted.

"That little chime" is called a "quadareenaroony" because that is what it sounds like.

I'm such a geek
