I have played the game for a long time, but recently decided to get "The Total Experience." WHen I start launchpad it downloads files such as data_sample_00 and other data files for about 4 hours or so on a 250KB cable modem. WHen it's finally done I run it a few more times because there's always one or two more that it downloads again, when it's run through twice without downloading I hit play. I can play fine for about 10 minutes but then it crashes. WHen I run launchpad again it starts the downloading process all over as if I didn't just do it, downloading the same files over and over. This has happened about 5 times to me now. I've spent over 40 hours downloading data files now, all of the patches are fine, just the data files are my issue. Any reason this is happening?

Win 98
DXDIAG says it's all working fine.
Latest 9250 driver, can't remember number.
9.0c
128MB 3d Card.

Like I said, it's all worked fine for a long time now is a huge POS. I reformatted, reinstalled, repaired etc......no help. I even ran the TreFix and it "fixed" 13 of 30 files. But sure enough, had to download them again afterward. Any ideas?

Yes, had a guy tell me to restart because my launchpad had been downloading the same files over and over for the past few times I'd run it. I told him that I restart each time and it doesn't make any difference. So he says, "well, do it again, and if it doesn't fix it, let us know." I said, I just did let you know. So he says ok, what OS are you using and what RAM amount? I say win 98 and 512. SO he says, ok, I need to know these things....OS, RAM, and DXDIAG results. I tell him I just told you my OS and RAM...and DXDIAG says it's all enabled and should be good (copied and pasted)......long pause of 4-5 minutes or so waiting on his response. He says, listen, if you are going to be difficult I'm not going to help you, you need to do what I say. I tell him, what am I not doing? I've given you the same information twice and have told you I don't have issues with DX or my 3d capabilities. I think my issue is my OS. So once again he says "restart and if it doesn't fix it, let us know, do you have any other questions?" I tell him that he is a joke, forget it and I'll find out on my own. Lost my cool a bit at the end, but come on........how worthless was that help.

But after some reading around, I've decided it's probably win98 OS compatibility issues. I'm upgrading to XP this weekend.
