::::Im afraid this statement really isnt true::::
Quote:
Yeah, but you would think that the technology would determine how prone it is to breaking, I mean, the x-box has far superior technology, wouldn't that mean it can take more punishment?

::::Why you might ask::::
Sega Genisis: Stomped on by father breaking the game I was playing, submerged in water, dropped from any number of heights..
Times broken: never
Game boy orignal: sumbmerged in water, left in washer, dropped, dropped, dropped, dropped, thrown
Still working!
Nintendo: Never damaged
Still working .. (some ps2 owners cant say that :P)
Atari: ROFL tapped
It has trouble reading just about anthing really hard to play..

NOt really, nothing is new about building a device that can withstand punishment. Plastic hasnt changed much. The laser eye for reading disks has been out for years, hard to ***** up there. The PS2 is just not built well.

Well, the PS2 wasn't designed for combat duty. I've had my PS2 for over 2 years, and I've had zero problems with it. I hear stories about disc read erros and such, and they say those errors increase especially if the PS2 is used as a main DVD player. Now, my friend, who's had his PS2 for about 3 years, plays alot, watches movies alot, and has had not one problem. The point? It's how the system is treated, moreso than anything else. If you give enough abuse to anything, and I mean anything, (except maybe Honda automobiles) they will not last long.

Hehem: 3 foot fall-Breaks
20 foot fall-Plays well

For people like me who bring there gaming systems with them when leaving to there second parents house it is harder to never hurt the ... precccccioooousss that is our gaming system. For those who have family that dont understand that pulling a cord = a falling system- (its not my cousins fault she has dislexyia? and has a lot of trouble plus shes only 9) well my point is that keeping your system out of "combat duty" is hard. Oh and my sisters gamecube was dropped once from 2 feet onto a couch and survived!

Not true: Bugs/glitches: People abuse bugs/glitches all the time yet many of them are still not 'breaking'. Though ants seem to die with just 1 push of a finger. :wimpes away an ant body:

NO my PS2 burnt out playing just games, with out being hit or droped, you may be lucky and have a good one, but mine burnt out around the 2 year mark.

Sorry I have to disagree about it not needing to be designed for combat duty. Video games are still something children play. Children throw things, drop things, and pretty much destroy what they can.

Falling onto a couch isnt a big deal unless it bounced off and hit the floor.

My old ps2 just stoped reading fronts disc but it can do everything else.(its from when they first came out)

Is there an error that causes certain ps2 controllers to mess up.. ? My uncle seems to have a lot of problems with his controllers and once for no reason my own controller messed up.. when I put it back in my own ps2 the problem was gone( I stopped running in wide looping circles when not holding on to the analog stick)

that was probably because the controller was upside down when you turn on your PS2. If the analog stick is at an angle when you turn it on it sets that position as center, so that if you let go it will move your toon.

Perhaps so, it's a 1st gen console. I also take very good care of it, not saying you don't of yours though.

Disagree all you want, but children, especially need to learn respect for things like gaming consoles. If they throw a tantrum, and break theirs, then they get no more. The kids that would mainly do things like this however are pretty young, and a GC would be more suitable for them anyway.

I agree, children need to learn lessons, but if it is a family system that can be annoying for others.

that used to alway happen whe I used my wireless controler. It only happned if the analog stick wasnt straight. Never had any problems with it being tilted or anything.

I think he was trying to be funny.

My ps2 at about to 2 year mark stopped reading disks. We got it fixed though with one of those DvD clenaer disks. Took forever to get it to read it but we did.

i didnt read all the posts but:

ps2 = the quality of them are ****

xbox = even if 5000 were recalled it's still tons lot less than how many ps2's ***** up and would only play certain games, and would eventually flunk out and you have to go buy a new one.

besides, bill gates wont bury sony, if anything does i hope sont gets whats comeing to em and looses the law suit on the dual shock 2 technology. i mean i love to play the FF's, but they'll move over to xbox, and i bet bill gates would buy sony before he buries it.
#41 Jul 17 2005 at 7:27 AM Rating: Excellent
ah both microsoft and sony lost that law suit already. Microsoft bought into the company so they now have access to the rights, sony has to pay back payments for use.

Microsoft will also never be able to buyout sony the FTC will never allow it.
