oh sorry i didn't realize that casters are now tanks and they need AC in order to group properly...
what good is the xtra 200 ac if your going to die in 1 crit/quad anyways?

Ok, here's my beef with this kind of response. And Sol, please don't think I have any problem with you at all, cuz I don't. It's just that I am fed up with people thinking there is only one way to play this game and that's for tanks to tank, healers to heal, casters to stand back and cast, and for all of us to play in "normal" 4-person, perfectly balanced groups.

Normal groups are like "normal" families...they just don't exist!

Sometimes, casters gotta take hits, for whatever reason, and at the level we were talking about (Aura of Karana, level 26) mobs do not quad, and 200 more AC will definitely help a caster survive a hit or two. And at 26, that makes a difference in continuing your soloing, or farming, or your all-wizzie non-traditional group, W/E!

Many people, myself included (along with a certain high-level wizzie who likes to tank :D), do not play the same way some other people play. Doesn't make it wrong, not by a long shot.

/end ranting defense of us weirdos who like to run off on our own...

What??? Every class needs ac!!! If a player cant survive a quad they are more of a hinderance to the group then an benefit. Things happen, especially in pickup groups, that will cause you to be hit. Expecting every grind to be perfect is foolish, being prepared with enough HP, ac, and agi to live a quad or 2 is better for the group dying every single time you gain aggro.

I do agree, ac is needed, and Nursie had it, normal groups are like normal families, not real hehe. Maybe a while ago but not in this day and age when people buy 60's for $200 >.< (I never met anyone who has done this and had NO IDEAR what they were doing, until the other day)
Although I do agree with what he said, 200 ac isn't going to let you live a crit/quad (maybe if you already have 450-750, but not if that extra 200 is doubleing your ac, hence your ac is currently 200). But with further knowelege of the level were talking about (26) 200 more ac is pretty good.
I agree again with Nursie, abnormal groups (dd groups especially) are fun. And even in treditional groups your still going to pull argo, lol I don't know where that fits in but bah, people these days aren't all that great, thats why I like buffs :)

Do you not understand that higher AC means you will take less damage from hits? So, maybe you can last 5 hits instead of 3, and give the tank that much more time to grab aggro back. Sheesh!

This certain high level wizzie has survived many a time thanks to taht shield. Sometimes all you need is an extra round for a clash or better yet for a tank to grab aggro, or even to evacuate. 6 seconds is all you need to get outta dodge and a shield can give you just that. I never said my ac was that low at that level but on average most casters dont pay attention to AC especially pet casters. 200+ ac can go a long way especially if it is from one item.

ur talking what an xtra 200 ac? i have a tank and there is really no difference between 0 and 200 ac, i still get hit for the same dmg. the only real difference in damage would be like 200 ac to 700 ac and so on
*notice i was a scholar b4 i posted on this thread lol

Try playing a wizard. You probaly have improved your agi with your tank so you wouldnt notice what a difference 200 AC is. Or better yet make a defense path monk as they have bad ac also. In the middle of soloing cast your AC buff (about 200 AC for the level 30 Path) and watch the hits drop about 20 points per hit then tell me it does nothing.

your still missing the point... no matter how much AC you have you still will die in a few hits, unless your an all hp wizzy that can't do crap for dmg
*btw back on topic.. crystalline orb is farmed from Tak Frostbiter, when i normally farm i kill every cleric/ratter and he usually spawns within 30 minutes. sometimes he has the shield equipped and others he doesn't. the the orb itself is a rare drop off of him and sometimes it can drop instantly while others takes awhile, anyways hope this helps

Actually it is you that doesnt understand. What you said is true to tanks as well as every class, why should tanks have ac if it gimps their damage?

What we are saying is any character is a hinderance to a group without enough defensive stats. Yes a wizzy is going to die, but extra ac can keep them alieve long enough for several things to happen. What good is a dead wizzy? How is doing less damage worst then doing no damage?
