yeah dark good point you got there except for one little thing. Lets say you were going to meet a friend you haven't seen in a while and decide for some strange reason to pick them up flowers. Now lets say said friend is allergic to said flowers. You hand them flowers, allergies go "woopy". The end result is what ever the flowers did to them, but the initial idea was you were trying to be nice. I agree, you shouldn't have to try, but in certain scenarios (like the one I gave), a good intention that goes bad is an example of "trying to be nice" because that "trying" means you didn't succeed in being nice. Also, in those situations you can try and be nice without "living a lie" as you so cynically put it. Check mate :). Of corse then again if some one weighs the badness of allergies over the goodness of the thought of getting them flowers then they're not socially working in my opinion.
P.S. I know what a rate bot does but why's it called a "rate bot"? That just makes me think of a bot that automatically rates you up.
