hey guys,
i was thinking of starting to dual box. a friend of mine is giving me his PS2 and i have two other everquest games. I was thinking of creating a Cleric and taking him resist path so that i can buff my tank so i dont have to wear as much resist gear. i have a few questions...

what is the best race for a cleric?
what stats should i consider?
do any of their spells have a modifier?
at what level do clerics start to get resist buffs? and how strong are they?
this toon is strictly being used for resist buffs, because of that, should i dump more tp's into the modifier stat to increase the efficiency of the spells?

if i do this this will save me 175 cm's that i can place into other areas to make my toon even better.

can someone go into a little depth on this topic for me.. THANKS guys.

Elf would be best, they have the highest wis/cha potential, and the final resit spell has a wis mod on it.

ok here goes...

Best race for starting out, as far as stats go: Elf

(but other races have their advantages as well...some make great clanks, halflings have deputy MC, delfs are just cool)

Stats are: Char and Wis, plus whatever you need for the MC you want to head toward. Most ppl will say you need a bit of sta and dex...but i would think about that first. If you are dual boxing, you might not want to get into sta.

Most of the spells are modified by your main stats, with the exception of the Smite line of nukes which are modded by Dex alot, 20-30%...

You get resist spells starting at 20 with your path choice...even at that level they add 25 points to target's resists.

Resist buffs do not seem to have a mod, at least not that I can discover. OK nvm, dirges says the final one does have a mod, and he is always right :D

Does that help?

halflings make best clanks with deputy mc

Perfect Cleric (IMO)
Elf
Faithful
Resist Path

Buy everything that will raise your cha and wisdom and you will be dishing out 1k+ a tic and +125ish to all resists (ownage). Go lion so your less paper and you can get the 40 ability which adds like 120 extra cha

Oh and when you complete the cleric you can put Cleetis in a group and head to EG and use the cleric as an outside buff and get a hell lotta CMs on Cleetis then. (3 necs is so fast)

If you are only making the cleric for the heals and buffs than it doesnt really matter what class or race it is although from an RPG POV i would suggest a delf, erudite, gnome or human because of the evil/neutral issue.

From looks i think dwarves and gnomes look the best as armor-clad healers.

Strategy-wise it may be best to make a clank in case you arent that good at dual boxing and lose aggro. As a DB it would be my opinion that being an MH on raid mobs wouldnt be priority for your cleric so MC doesnt need to be geared toward that. In that mind i would suggest a tinker so that you get extra damage, or, if you become really skilled at DB'ing, make a were-hunter in the class that gives off-mods so your cleric is a beast. (in comparison to clerics)

If you were making a cleric wouldnt the class matter. There is only one cleric class you know.

If you want the best buff you will need the best wisdom possible. So MC wise I would look to any that give +50wis Max. So that would include Exorcist, Diviner, Chosen and Immortal. If the cleric is primarily just going to be duel boxed then a cleric with max wis and an 80% rez sounds nice.

hmmm didnt even think of a elf TINKER.... that sounds like it would be fun as i would get killer heals, awsome resists and one of the better pets in the game...

however i honestly dont think ill be going over lvl 30-40.. maybe ill TRY to get the cleric to 50 but im not to sure...

i just dont know if i wanna level something again. im still working on Cleetis and his cm's i want about 930-950 spent...

plus my girlfriend is already starting to make fun of me as i told her i may start playing two ps2's at a time for this game LOL...

Nursie wrote that the resist spells start at 20 and buffs you for 25...

when i go to the spell page on here it says you get disease ward at lvl 20 which buffs DR for 100...

at lvl 30 you get another ward which buffs you for PR and DR for 100

lvl 40 PR DR and FR i think for 100...

which information is correct?

lol cleet...i hope you don't mind me answering this, even though i am suspect :P

the clerics got some dev lovin' awhile back and that was all changed.

the prima guide is a bit out of date...ROFL...and that is where ilia got his info for the spell page here.

when you choose resist for your path, a CM that costs 0 opens up and you get four wards. you don't hafta wait for levels any more, and they scale up with each path quest.

better?

i am booting up my cleric right this minute to answer your questions my lord...

hang on a sec...

oh and...LMAO...you cant be an elf tinker dork...gnome only racial MC...HAHAHAHA...that would be so cool if you could do it tho :D

My bad...3 wards open up, not 4.

They are: Body Ward: adds 25 resistance to disease and poison

Char Ward: adds 25 resistance to Fire and Lightning

Vessel Ward: adds 25 resistance to Cold and Arcane

when you hit 20 a CM unlocks and gives you these 3 wards for no cost, if you go resist path. these wards scale up as you do the path quests too. I can't tell you how much though, cuz my resist cleric is only 20...I think its 20-50-75, but not sure.

Is THAT better?

gonna make an ELF TINKER there, Cleetis? Wow, tell me how that works out when you do it.. And please tell me HOW you do it.

The cleric at 20 gets a spell that gives like 100 Dr or 100 Pr, but you can buy a CM for 0 that changes that to 25 to all resists.

At 30, you get a spell that gives 100 Pr / Dr, can buy a CM for 0 that changes it to 50 to every resist.

40 = 100 Fr/Dr/Pr, CM for 0 changes it to 75.

49 I was told was a 75 to every resist with 10% wis mod. However, my resist cleric is only 43.

Also, you say you aren't sure if it will even hit 30? Ther eis no point then, the resist cleric won't even be useful until 40.
