Personally I find wolf to be the best overall form for melees, especially since most tend to ignore sta (though I like your approachof balancing str sta dex and agi). With form, my berserker rge currently only needs to buy his stat maxes to have well over 500+ str sta dex and agi (525 str, 525 sta, 545 dex and 545 agi, all capped out), with his reckless vigor mca already purchased. If you're willing to put the time in, you can max 4 stats and still have a relatively high cha with the right gear and using your 40 abil (approximately +120 str and sta that stacks with form and has a decent duration) to compensate for any tps you might be short, and though constantly casting a buff every 5 minutes can be a mana drain for most classes, you're playing a bard, heheh... and a 5 min duration should be like an amazingly long time compared to what you're used to.
But overall, I think the reason I liked wolf was just the amazing 40 abil it gives melees. Bear, for example, has the same stat increases, but the 40 buff only targets strength. Lion for a melee you get just an agi/SoW buff, and most melee classes can already SoW... rat, you protect your int, but lose 50 str when really aside from a ranger, melees don't need anything over base int unless they want to get 100 to unlock their PoT cms.
