GENERAL GUIDELINES

NOTES: FP=Freeport; HP=Highpass; ToL=Temple of Light; ToK=Tomb of Kings; Mord=Moradhim; Fay=Fayspires; HB=Highbourn

COACHS

1. Try to get your coach before you actually need them! Don’t wait till you get a group to find out you don’t have the needed coach!
2. To get BW coach: from FW, go out the exit follow path down to the little market area, from there, follow road south to the guarded bridge. From the bridge, follow the river east. Soon you will come upon a couple of water locks, or dams if you prefer, there is a fork in the river there but the water locks kind of masks them, just be sure not to follow the river north, you want the east branch of the river. Keep running east along river, soon the river will begin to turn south. BW will be on the left side of the river. You can use the river, riverbanks, and both sides of the river to avoid bad mobs.
3. To get Haz coach from Grobb, make your way to the east coast, follow the coast north, soon you’ll see a large statue on the south side of the river and the a city on the other side of the river. The coach is inside of the city. There is a road you can follow from Grobb that leads thru Guk and takes you Haz.
4. To get SFG coach from DM. This is really easy to do without SOW or INVIS, if you simply take your time and watch out for nasties! From DM, run west by northwest, SFG is two zones away to the NW as the crow flys. However, the safest way is to run north and slightly west to Blackburrow zone, then run full west two zone to SFG.
5. To get Moradhim coach from DM. From DM coach run east to the river behind the coach. Follow the river north. Use the river and the river banks to avoid nasties. Run north along the river for 3 zones! When you get to Diren Village zone, get on the east side of the river. Soon will be running along some mountains, and soon you will see a wooden fort, which is Direns’s hold, when you see the Diren’s hold, look for a pass between the mountain heading east! Make your way east, sightly south too, soon you will enter Moradhim zone, and will see Moradhim city. The coach is outside of the city alond the road, and not inside the tunnels.
6. To get Fay coach from Klick; from coach head out west gate and follow road till road ends, which is past a small village. From the end of the road, just run west, slightly south, till you see the coach!
7. To get HB coach. From FP coach; run east to the first dock, there is a dock guy there, talk to him, he will ask you if you want to go to the new world, say yes! When you get to the new world you will next to the dock guy there, talk to him. He will ask you if you want to go to the old world, say yes, this time you will be given a choice of going to HB or FP, go to HB.

FORMING GROUPS

1. Refrain from inviting two tanks into a group! Tanks; Pal, War, Sk.
2. Refrain from inviting two Healers into a group! Healers; Sha, Clr, Dru.
3. Refrain from inviting two Mana givers into a group! Mana; Brd, Enc, Nec.
Note; this one rule can bend a lot, mana givers serves multiple purposes and therefore can work together very well.
4. Do not invite a mana-bard and Alcemist into same group, unless it is ok with them. A Bard mana song somehow interferes with the Alc’s mana potions.
5. Keep the levels of your group members within close range of each other.
6. It may be helpful to have your Tank be 1-3 levels higher than your healer and the rest of the group. This will help with potential argo-pulling problems.
7. If you are going to be a group leader, that is, the one who will be inviting others to your group, try to get a camp first before you form your group!!! I for one hate it when I get invited to group, just to be asked, “where you all want to hunt?”!!! A group leader is suppose to be a LEADER!
8. Do not form a group if you know your are going to be quitting before too long! It’s just rude!

LFG TOOL

1. Do not invite someone from off the LFG tool just for a REZ without sending them a TELL first! Remember, they’re on the LFG Tool to get a group, not to REZ you!

SHOUTS

1. Do not spam by shouting out crap. Yes, you think you’re funny. Yes, you think you’re sexy. Yes, you think you know it all. However, we all know; you’re not funny, nor sexy, and most of all, we all know you know next to nothing! Shut up please!
2. When talking EQ to your friends, do so in private tells!!! Quit trying to impress everyone with your great intellect! All you are really doing is spamming up the text screen with your useless BS!
3. If your name is Bulldogtician, just STFU, you’re an idiot, punk, etc… you can dish out crap to noobs but not man enough to take it yourself!

ASKING FOR REZ, INVIS, SOW, ETC…

1. If you want SOW, or anything, from a fellow player, Hail the player by name, then state what you want! Do not run up to them and just Hail, Hail, Hail! Or worse, run up to them and just BOW, or WAVE. The person you want something from is not psychic!!! Beside, it’s just bad form, and shows just how little manners you have!
2. Do not expect a player to stop everything he is doing just to SOW you! You are not that important! Really! You’re not!
3. Say thank you for what ever you just got.

DYING, DEATH, DEAD

1. When your group get their butts handed to them by a mob, and the mob is now coming after you, and you know you are going to die…. Just die! Do not run to the nearest group in hopes that they will peel it off of you and save you! They may not be ready, and if not6, guess what, not only are you going to die, you may shared your death with an innocent other(s)! Bad Bad Bad form! Take your death like a man, and die!
2. Debt at low level is nothing! NOTHING! Get back to camp and kill a FEW mobs and guess what? Yep debt gone! So stop getting mad about dying and getting debt at low levels!
3. Debt at higher levels sucks, we know that. If, you can get a REZ to ease the debt level, and you can do it fast, then do so, just don’t make your group wait forever while your precious self gets a REZ! Besides, if you just get back to your group and XP, you’ll XP that debt away a lot faster!
4. You have a Sha or Dru in your group. You die. You say, ‘I am leaving group to get a better REZ’! Bad Form! Yep! The difference in debt aint all that much. But go ahead, make your group WAIT, hassle the group leader to reinvite you! How selfish of an act!
5. If you’re dying, and you know it, clap your hands! Hehe, Ok, if you are dying, look around fast and try to die where you can be REZ’d without needing INVIS. You should plan ahead. When you get to a camp, study it for a good place to die!
6. Here is a helpful utility for Healers who has Invis. If you want to REZ yourself back to where you died with INVIS, you can! Have your REZ and INVIS abilities on your tool belt close together. REZ yourself and then start clicking on you INVIS very fast. When the popup comes up asking you if you want to Invis, do not click on it right away, wait till the INVIS takes affect, once in does click on yes to REZ. Now you’ll REZ back to where you died, with INVIS!
7. To REZ someone back to where they died; Be in same group, and hide behind a building, even if the health bar is still visible, because there is no line of sight the recently deceased will go back to where they died. TY Onyxia.
8. To Spot-REZ someone, that is, to REZ someone without sending them back to where they died; invite them into group, REZ them while you can see their health bar!

QUESTS

1. Do all of your start up quests, that is, quests 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, and 15. Some of these give you abilities and gear!
2. The primary quests to do are the ones, which give you abilities and path choices. 20, 23, 25, 27, 30, 33, 35, 37, 40, 43, 45, 47, 49. These quests, you should never skip. Also, some of these levels has multiple quests, example; the 23s. The only part of the multiple quest of the 23s you need to do is the ability part, the rest you can skip, unless you need the gear and experience that they will give you!

ODSS AND ENDS

1. Do carry extra Food and Drinks (ither, lower or higher level than your current level)! If you are somewhere, where there’s no bank and just merchants, and you need money, you can sell for same price as you buy them and there is almost always a merchant nearby to sell when you need a little tunar. TY Zata.

AUCTIONS

1. If you’re unsure about how much a rare would sell for on the auction. On the start menu, hit auction and type in the item you have or are looking for and a list will come up. If, it isn't on the list, then do a search on the closed auctions. TY Thigthethug.

ML=MasterLooting

1. When you ML, do not destroy junk or gems until you ask if anyone wants them!
2. You may want your ML’er to be a pet caster because the pet will be fighting, thereby adding damage while the caster is looting. This is especially helpful when the tank is chainpulling. TY Kastigir.
3. When the group is heading out to the camp to grind, do ask your DDs if they have room for loot! Slow your XP down if no one has room to loot! TY Crazydavis!

Perfect!

Couldn't have said it better myself.

At times I think the whole server is being overrun by 5 year olds!

My shaman gets hailed ALL the time! I usually just cast a SOW by reflex.

Once a friend on an Alt hailed me...So I SOWed him. He got a laugh, cause he was a druid.

So from now on no more SOWs on Hails...let then ASK for it...

I'll add more to each catagory as I can... for example the coachs... newbies has troubles getting to new coachs at lowbie levels! I am always running newbies for coachs, or telling peeps how to get to one.

There are catagories I want to add too, Gems, auction, Gear.

I want to add helpful hints, stuff that we veterns take for granite but is not apparent to newbies!

Example.... do not carry money on ye, if you die you'll lose half of what you're carrying.

I just want to say "bravo". A few reminders now and then can be a beautiful thing. Let's just hope the less mannered people read the forums ;)

OK ... dont carry tunar on you....
But do carry max Food and Drinks!
They sell for same price as you buy them and there is almost always a merchant nearby to sell when you need a little tunar.

If you are unsure about how much a rare would go for on auction, or is going for. On the start menu, hit auction and type in the item you have or are looking for and a list will come up. If it isn't on the list, then seach the closed auctions.

Gems can usually be sold on auction for 1200-1500 tunar a piece.
The rare gems need to be known! No selling Black Sapphires on auction for 1500, those all go to Thigthethug! For 1000 tunar!

#9 May 31 2005 at 4:38 PM Rating: Decent
Ah drats!

Wish you had told me that sooner Thig!

I went and sold a black sapphire for 350k on auction...and I could have sold it to you for 1000 Tunar....darn!

Can I sell you a rose of renewal for 1000 Tunar?

Sing the only thing to fix is the LOS rez. Even if you can't see some one's health bar, if there is a clear line of sight to them they will still rez right in front of the rez'er. On POS this is how people "warp" planes even though the person isn't visible let alone the health bar.

All you need to do is hide behind a building, even if the health bar is still visible, because there is no line of sight the recently deceased will go back to where they died.

When heading out for a grind, non takns need to be sure they have room to loot. Most melles are good about this because they usually take care of it. In cases where you grab 2 mages and a cleric and they all think someone else is looting, they sometimes show up with full or near full inventories. This leaves the job of looting on the tank who may already be caring 2 sets of armor and weps.
#14 Jun 01 2005 at 2:18 PM Rating: Excellent
I try to keep room for looting incase I am the ML, but it is hard in pick up groups some times. I have to carry atleast 4 weapons, two sets of gear, incase the tank is a bad one and I need my solo gear to survive. So my inventory is as full as a tank's. In a friend group I dont have this problem, but I would rather change armour then die in a pickup group.

On the subject of ML, I prefer it to be a pet caster. Simply because the pet will start fighting first, thereby adding damage until the caster is finished looting. This is especially helpful when the tank is chainpulling.

I got a feeling I'm going to neeed to break the guidlines up in sections!

What I really need is someone who has a website who can publish all of this stuff. I can do all the text work, research, and you publish it to your site. Then we can just issue the link to peeps who need the info. I can email text files as I go.

I would ask a few of me old pirate buddies, but they would laugh at me if they knew I was playing on a PS2! Hehe! Plus, I'm tryin to stay away from that scene.

I tried to do my own website, but it is hard for me from work. Plus I was using FREEBIE sites without my own publishing tools, thiers sucked!

So....

I am going to let everyone see my website.... please don't laugh it! Hehe! Or at least, do it behind me back!

You forgot

Forming a group:

Do NOT send out waves of blind invites to everyone of any relatively close lvl on the lfg list or in the nearby vicinity. send a tell BEFORE they decline telling them your current group makeup and planned xp location. This will help reduce the chance of the resulting inclusion of 2 or more tanks, batteries or healers in your group.

After someone declines your blind invite, and you send them a tell saying "PL" and they send one back saying "BANK CHARACTER" do NOT ask them if they want to PL it, then ask them if they can make a wiz in that town for the sole purpose of joining you after they say that they don't engage in PLs.
(Sorry, had to be said. I was actually asked if I would stop everything I was doing on my bank character, apparently with the idea that I would delete one of my toons, just to create a wizard to do something I don't do with someone I'd never heard of... Some people don't PL... accept it)

And one suggestion, a melee is far more suited to MLing than a pet caster, as they are always going to be within loot range of the mob and it is very easy for them to open loot window, take a quick glance, then loot well before the mob hits the ground many times (In the off chance that you are in a camp that has known no trade drops, advise them not to speed loot.) much less the time it takes for them to finish the quad they were on and be able to start the next. A petter who is looting isn't controlling his pet, which can lead to adds in a crowded camp, and most times are lower in overall hp/ac and as a result tend to be back from the main fighting, forcing them to come forward each time, then back off again when they could already be targeted on the next mob and nuking away. Otherwise, very nicely put Sing.
#23 Jun 03 2005 at 6:30 AM Rating: Excellent
Actually pet casters in my group tend to stay close, they cant get their power fix if they are not close. They also have less need for extra gear in their inv, and it is not hard to control pets in the seconds it takes to loot, or atleast not for me. It is actually easier for them to loot since I am more likly to have buffs to cast and need to be central to the group.

awesome post Sing.. completely awesome

only thing we needa get now is ppl to read thru it all, and actually join up on alla site so we can help them be better players

I agree and disagree. I agree that you shouldn't send blind invites to people in the vicinity. If, however, they're on the LFG tool, they're wanting a group. When I'm LFG, I'll take all the blind invites I can get.

Yes, but by simply sending a tell first you can avoid simple things like sending someone a gp invite when they're in a situation where it might kill them (lot of people like myself aren't content with standing around in FP or another town for an hour and a half waiting for an invite when we do register) and the afore mentioned problem of getting 2 healers/tanks/batteries who accept invites, leaving you either stuck with multiples and forcing you to get rid of them. Also, it saves them the problem of having to stop and ask for the lvl and class of every person in grp as well as the camp to find out if it's a regular group or a PL, if it's a camp they can or can't get to, or (in the case of say, an EG group) aren't prepared for, and lets them know that it's a valid invite. And then they don't get knocked off the lfg list and your group isn't full while everyone figures out if they'll stick around. Let's the grp keep checking the lfg list and the person recieving the invite remains vsible as lfg to other groups if hedeclines. Will save you the ever annoying 10 minute pause before the person just drops from group or says "I don't have Frontiers".

Personally I stopped accepting blind invites after about the 1,000th time that any of my 30+ characters got an invite, accepted, and found the grp to actually consist of a couple lvl 5s looking for quest help or a PL... Just gets annoying sometimes, so unless I'm desperate for a group the best you'll get from me is a decline and then maybe a return tell asking you what the group is.

Oh, could always add:

When you are group leader

KNOW the camp you are going to be xping at so that you can create the appropriate group. Mobs power tap, grab a battery. Mobs are highly resistant to magic, grab two melees. And please take the level of the camp into account when inviting. True, it helps the tank to be a couple levels higher than the dds sometimes simply because the damage dealers won't hit quite as hard, but nothing makes a melee feel more worthless than getting an invitation to a group where everyone is 6 or 7 lvls higher than him and the mobs are 13 or 15 lvls above him, causing him to quad for a whopping 30 or 40 dmg a hit (trust me, I know) or a nuker to hit for 25% dmg every time.
